There's quite some chatter on the inter webs about Apple possibly holding back on same major new features in the iOS GM. As mentioned, 5C's are already assembled and on US Soil, although Apple has not released a GM to devs. With the talk of slomo camera features, finger print scanning software, etc. this theory is pretty much validated.

The latest conspiracy is Apple may be changing App Icons to circles. Whispers that the grey circles could be the new home button image, and all app icons become circles to match. Macrumors did mention this in an article ran a few months ago (anyone wanna dig that one up?) I attached a picture for some further explanation.

Think, Circle app icons sure would be interesting. Dial screen, Lock screen, and Safari/iTunes/App Store icons all lend credence to the conspiracy theory. Also, for Apple's new icon design template, the geometry sure is circular.

Now before you throw this out the window and damn me in future posts, just give it some thought. Apple has a GM (on the 5C) but not publicly available to devs - yet. There's always those tidbits that are saved until the hardware release, I don't think we will see one until the 10th after everything is announced. There is definitely features we do not know about, and aren't supposed to know until September 10th.
iOS 7 changed the icon shape already, they aren't going to change to a round icon, there are just a lot of them used in the UI (for contact pictures for instance).

I hope the event will be shown live via Apple TV/Macs/iDevices, similar to WWDC Keynote

iPhone 5C - 16GB - $0 on contract, $399 Retail
iPhone 5 - 16GB - $99 on contract, $549 Retail

iPhone 5S - 32GB - $199 on contract, $649 Retail--My Choice(upgrade from 4S)
iPhone 5S - 64GB - $299 on contract, $749 Retail
iPhone 5S - 128GB - $399 on contract, $849 Retail

I don't think they will keep the 5, if they do I don't feel as it would be for very long.

I'm not hopeful for anything exciting coming out on the 10th to begin with, and this announcement makes me even less so. Fingerprint sensor 5s, slight spec bumps and gold.....plastic 5's in lots of colors....iOS 7. Even though I think the iPhone is a great phone and doesn't need a lot of improvement, I think the tech community and media are going to have an absolute field day blasting this "announcement". I sold all of my Apple stock today after buying in at $395. Will buy it back after the announcement dust settles and the reactions take place.

Having had it since it's beta launch I can assure you that you'll not only get a significant increase in the sheer speed of the OS, it clearly makes your phone literally all new like...

It's blazingly fast... And very smooth...

Thanks for the feedback. Should be good for another year, then! Woohoo!

Oh.... ma'..... gawd! The clear bubbles mean the iPhone I'm going to buy is invisible!

The circles are probably referring to the Home button....which is going to have a fingerprint scanner :p

I thought since wwdc 2013, we've learnt not to read into these banner designs... Cuz they end up giving false hopes

I already knew this, but thought it may still be a good one to run across your minds. Still a possibility they are keeping this from us. Just like the colored wallpapers we see on the packaging, pre installed??

As much as I wish this was true, the icons on these leaked images of the 5C packaging suggest otherwise:

What's the logic in keeping the 5 around?

5C is essentially a 5 no?

I would imagine Apple wants more physical differentiation between 'lower-end' and the flagship. With the 5C the 5 is neither here nor there.

It just seems very odd to me to ditch the flagship iphone 5 for the plastic version if they have essentially the same internals. I don't see how this is going to work. Who would want to trade their iphone 5 for plastic?

Looking forward to the event as I will finally be able to decide whether to stick with an iPhone or try my first android.

My 3GS is close the death so this is coming just at the right time :)

If I go android, it will be primarily for the bigger screen. Hopefully the iPhone 6 will have a larger screen as there is definitely a market for it.

I don't think Apple's invites have ever been totally clear. They're always a bit of a fun guessing game, reading beneath the print. Last year's iPhone event was a bit more obvious though with its giant '5'.

I'm still a little bitter that the 6th iPhone was branded with a 5!

Can I Still Get My Free Bumper?

I am begining to think more and more that a 5S is becomming less and less likely. Regardless, still a great way to blow off work for a few hours.

yikes you people are a tough crowd. all we can do is wait until they are unveiled, and i bet half of you will take back what you have said when you get the device in your unappreciative hands. :apple::rolleyes:
