I hope his optimism is correct but in the advent of subscriptions and such computers are going back to this modern version of what we had before personal computers where all the software was a kind of subscription from servers and your desks just had a terminal sigh

i believe we will see similar price increases as the new iPhone lineup is announced in Sept. I suspect iPhone 18 Pro will increase by $200 or more.
 
You have to wonder how this is going to play out. The problem with greed is once the genie is out of the bottle it's not going to want to go back in. People will quickly acclimate to this, and accept it as the norm. So prices will go down but in a way to make Apple look generous.

This M5 Max is currently $4099 on the Apple website. Amazon has it for $3299. Does anyone know of any other stores that has it cheaper than this?

With watching the price increases from the Windows and Android based companies this year I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner and wasn't an even bigger jump in prices. I expect more price increases from Apple on the other products as well as the products that got hit today. Its supposed to get REALLY REALLY bad over the next two-ish years, this is just the start.

For a windows computer for example, we bought our son a new Asus laptop for college last year in August for $900. Today it sells for $1,600.

Anybody that is holding out buying an iphone to see what the 18's have to offer and their pricing, I don't know who you are kidding other than yourself.

The only thing I am surprised about is how many people are shocked that this happened now and by how much prices went up. Have those people been living under a rock somewhere, totally cut off from the world? LOL, I mean they are members of this site clearly as they are posting, haven't they been reading the articles on this site and other tech sites???

Yeah, I’m sticking with my 2nd-gen Apple TV 4K until it dies, which probably won’t be for another five years at least.

Same with my AWU2. It’s still doing everything I need it to do.

The only thing I’ll likely buy is the OLED iPad Mini, because I’ve never owned one before. Other than that, Apple isn’t getting another cent from me anytime soon.

I was just about the buy a Neo. Guess I'll stick with my current Mac for a bit longer.

Edit: Costco still has them at the original prices minus $10 -- $689 and $589.

Thanks, I see microcenter has it for $60 less but that’s a wash if I have to spend time driving there. Now the question is if B&H would price match Amazon’s $3299 price so I could save tax with payboo. B&H currently has all MBP’s out of stock while they update pricing
 
Welp, I’m loving the fact that I just upgraded our phones to 17 pros for $78(taxes) out of pocket. 24 months bill credits and didn’t have to change my plan.
