That's nice. I'm not a power laptop/computer user and with so much you can do on a smartphone the days of me spending $2+k on a laptop are a thing of the past. Apple really needs an entry level laptop for casual users that just want a really nice screen and lower processing specs.

EDIT:

So I don't continually get flamed with quotes on how much MB and MBP's cost. I don't live in AMURRICA.

A MB or MBP both start at $1729 plus at least 12% sales tax. Over $1900. A lot of money for a casual computer user.

MBA I guess is supposed to be that but hasn't been updated in forever and the screens are garbage.

This dell xps is 3199$ with an i7-8505g cpu (which is slower than the one in the mac, 10344 passmark)
This Mac is 3233$ CDN comes with a i7-8750h (12519 passmark score)

For 33$, you faster cpu, faster storage, hardware encryption (via t2), truetone, p3 colorspace display and more.
I don't see any Apple tax in this! Unless you want a computer with a different ecosystem than your phone.

How DARE you insert logic and reason into this thread so users can't complain about the price anymore. That's taking away the fun from a lot of posters here! <cough /sarcasm cough>. :)

I know when I bought my 2017 MBP TB 13, I had people left and right floored I would pay the prices I did. Set up something similar with Dell XPS or other, and it was almost the same price. I get that Apple is expensive but people really love to drama up that "tax" issue. I guess it gets likes?

My brother bought a $2k+ Dell XPS 13 this year. He really enjoys how it shuts off all the time when it gets hot. A laptop cooler helps a little but he's resorted to using his old desktop for gaming.

? You can get a Macbook on sale for ~$800?

Still the biggest reason I stay with Apple is customer service. I recently purchased a Razorblade Stealth and decided to return it. Took them almost three weeks to credit my credit card after they received it back. I cringe at the idea of having to send in my laptop for repairs and then having to wait days or weeks to get it back.

I think you'll find that's a standard duration for credit reversals. It's the policy of banks, likely for security (fraud) reasons and there's nothing the retailer can do about it. I was recently quoted 21 days to refund something as measly as on online CD purchase. In the past I know I've waited a couple of weeks for Apple to refund the iPhone I sent back as well. Pretty sure the same would apply if you requested a refund in an Apple store.

I do agree Apple's service is worth paying extra for however.

Apple would call that an iPad Pro with a keyboard, wouldn't they?

It's called the MacBook.

You know the one without Pro on it.

Ordered mine. 15" 2.2Ghz Processor. 32GB of RAM, 512GB SSD. I am working on my Master's degree while I'm also an independent software developer. That gave me a free pair of wireless Beats and a decent discount (Also, 20% off of AppleCare). So all together I was out of the door for $3,355.76 (includes tax). That is a lot -- it would be more without the EDU discount. But I don't intend to pay for another Mac for a long time.

I'm not 100% happy with the purchase. I've made peace with the lack of USB-A. However, the keyboard and the touchbar make me less than enthused in putting all of that money down. Right now I'm typing on a Surface Book 2 and I love the keyboard (but am less than enthused with its trackpad). I suspect that when I get the Mac, it will be the opposite problem. Lol.

I will say this -- I walked into the Apple store (Stonebriar in Texas) and they were a bit confused -- they just heard about it this AM right before the store opened. Also, very disappointed in the Trade In program for Macs. At least at this store, they couldn't take a trade there -- I have to go through a third party service and wait for an Apple gift card for a future purchase! However, they will take iPhones and iPads in for trade at the store. This showed me another frustrating lack of attention to Mac purchasers. I might have done a trade because of the fewer hassles it will be for reselling my 12" Macbook. Oh well, will sell it private party.

Mixed bag today. But glad to finally have a new dev Mac (on order).

Unexpected, but a nice surprise to be sure. Though for the high price they're charging, will I take a chance on the keyboard. By all reports, the keyboard did undergo some slight modifications, but will a spec a debris still break the keyboard?
It's "quieter." I wonder if muffling the keyboard helps or hurts its capacity to work without jamming.

The fact we have to ask this question is troubling enough. I don't think I'd spend the $2K today if I was in the market. I'd pick up a refurbished 2015. I'm fortunate enough that my workflow does not require much horsepower. I pray my 2017 holds...

No progress with the size of the bezels continues to be a disappointment.
Please, no feedback about where to put the camera. They can keep it on top and still reduce the bezel size.

Best of all: it’s still 720p!!

I have no problem with either Amd nor NVIDIA, what i miss is a modern UpToDate graphicschip, not the old version from 2 1/2 years.
Yea all chip manufacturers are slowing their roll including intel.

but people forget that nvidia and amd were rebranding like nobody's business in the past as well.

Okay Apple. It's time to say goodbye. Whilst I like the iPhone, the new MBP prices are fn ridiculous! Been a Macbook user since 2011 (MBP 15'' Early 2011) and last year, bought the MBP 13'' base model with 256 GB SSD for 1,700 EUR. Touch bar is dog s**t and a gimmick that I do not like and I hate Apple forcing us to use it by putting it on every single damn MBP in 2K18, upping MBP prices in US to $1,799 for the entry model. How much is it going to cost in EU? 2,000 EUR for a frickin' base MBP 13'' with integrated graphics? C'mon! It's 2018!

Why would I need to lift my fingers from the keyboard to use the touch bar when I simply can CMD+T to open up a new tab in Safari? Yeah...

Lies about "upping". It was also $1799 in 2017. Same price, but more to offer.

Those prices are crazy. A loaded 2017 27 inch iMac with a 1TB SSD was less than that

As an apple fanboy, I will readily say, I hate the touchbar. TouchID? Cool. Touchbar? Please get rid of this piece of crap.

The only theory I have is that Apple does not currently have the supply chain processes to include TouchID on the normal function rows. Maybe Apple is just waiting it out until FACEID and avoid touchid all together.

I know, same here. I was being sarcastic. ;) Love Apple, but stuff like this annoys the hell out of me.
Thanks for clarifying, I couldn't tell. I like Apple products too and wish the 32gb RAM and 4TB SSD were available on the 13 inch MacBook Pro. Has Apple said why they're only available on the 15 inch?

As soon as the 32GB option is available in the 13", I'm buying (this 2012 model is starting to show is age).

Imma check on this becaue EI want that 32GB RAM and 1TB option.

Well that just came out of nowhere. Updated on a Thursday? What is the world coming to?

Hex-core CPUs? YAY!

Radeon Pro 560X? Booo!

Actually the previous cards were more advanced than the NVidia GTX 1080s but those didn’t get much gaming support. Metal API is going to really shine soon!!

Hey the Back to School Promo started today too.

Sweeet sweeet! Discount education pricing here I come!

Holy ****. I'm floored.

Ay caramba! You, me and about a few million ppl!

The rumors were true! Thank god. Now I await tomorrow for my big pay cheque to come in to purchase one!!

But quad-core in a 13" is the news, not the Touch Bar.... if you want that new config, then you have no choice

Damn straight! I’ve been waiting praying to the GODS for a quad core config 13” MBP since well the AluBook 12” PowerBook! Yes that long!!

They caved to Dave2d's pressure. He did it, the absolute madman! /s

I know right?! Goes to show what a professional soft voice with respect can do to push more value.

I was really looking forward to this update (why the heck it couldn't be released with WWDC or even earlier who knows), but now that its here... Ugh...

1. nTB 13MBP's just don't get an upgrade, shafting and upselling people who don't need it (me).
2. 8GB of ram still standard even on the "high end" 13" MBP configuration (biggest bottleneck on my 2016 model)
3. 16GB of ram a $200 upgrade (Nickle and diming as always)
4. Storage upgrade prices are crazy as always (same old same old)
5. Same old Intel Integrated Graphics (with Intel/AMD now having more interesting integrated/semi-integrated GPU solutions this is disappointing if not unexpected)

$1800 starting price for a 4C/8T 13" laptop with 8GB of ram and 256GB of storage in 2018, and it's 6 months late to market. This just feels wrong. When I look at the competition I feel sick :/

Silver lining is you can pawn the headphones for roughly the cost of the ram upgrade if you're a student but still.
