Is there any detail anywhere on what the Radeon Pro 555X is?

Does the X just denote the 4GB VRAM in all tiers now, and the chip is largely unchanged from the 555? That's what it sounds like, I'm surprised there's no Vega though. The 555 in turn was the same as the 455, so the GPU itself is largely unchanged from the 2016 mid tier model.

Why non touchbar got no update?

starting 1799 ?? you kidding me?

waiting on the new macbook that was rumored...

Price is absolutely retarded. Still got the weird port selection and the useless touchbar. Yargh.

Still rocking that 2011 MBP. Getting real annoyed with these crappy offerings now. I want MacOS, but I don't want these mediocre (relative to the price) machines.

I bet six core + 32 gb will cost over €5000 which is awkward if you think the crappy, almost useless GPU you will carry around. So always keep in mind that a €1200 for akitio for flashed nvidia 1080 is a must have. Yeah. Around €6000-6500. for no hdmi port and LOTS of emojis in the place where function keys supposed to be. Amusing.

On the Touch Bar, I think Apple should have nothing or should have a touch screen.

It seems to me almost like the one button mouse :).
The touchbar strikes me more as a more versatile set of function row keys than a touchscreen replacement.

The more I read this forum, the more I think how people misunderstand the way Apple (and some other tech companies work).

Apple has clearly invested YEARS of research and development into the touchbar - they are committed to it being a core part of the Mac OS experience. This isn't like tacking on an iris scanner or second speaker. The Touchbar is baked into the Apple ecosystem. IF Apple backpedals on the TB, it will take several generations and will be a commitment unto itself.

It's easy to think that someone comes up with the idea, then a few months later they build it into the Macbook Pro and then start manufacturing. This sort of thing requires extensive testing, security architecture, analysis and the Macbook Pro would need to be designed with this integrated in mind - battery life, ergonomics, placement etc. The Touchbar was likely conceived years ago considering the processes required to bring it to life and ensure its proper functioning, extensibility and quality.

The roadmap for this sort of addition also needs to be carefully planned out - future Mac apps need to add TB integration, TB integration tools made available to their party developers, hardware made to match (such as future magic keyboards etc.)

The TB won't be going away. Even if there's a massive backlash about it, it will be around for another few generations at the very least.

Looks like they are no longer selling the 2015 MBPs now, and you only get the new stuff on the TouchBar models. The 13" non-TouchBar is still being held on the previous generation chips.

Excellent, my still-under-Applecare 2015 value just went up :D

Wow, cried yesterday for the a MacMini rumor, sobbing now for a MacbookPro update. Thank you Apple.

Hmmm, 13" quad core, maybe this means a new Mini QC (in the past, the Mini has occasionally "borrowed" the 13" internals).

According to John Gruber the issue with the keyboards had to do with supplier sourcing of a specific metal part that wasn’t up to standard. Supposedly that has been fixed. He didn’t get this first hand so he said take with a grain of salt of course.

That's true about Gruber, but I've seen in a few other sites, same thing, not the design itself, but a component issue.

No computer with integrated Intel Iris Garbage deserves to be called PRO.

What if I'm a PROfessional author using it to write my next best selling novel, or a PROfessional Project Manager handling a multi-million dollar development effort?

I think it's probably more accurate to consider price vs. graphic subsystem, but not usage :)

Just did the math on our Apple Store (they just have the taxes) and the cheapest MBP 13 2,3 Ghz should be priced at 2097 euros (probably 99 when ofifcial).

That is just ridiculous. You can buy 2 or 3 better specced common laptops at that price point.

Nothing justifies this level of price gouging. Not MacOS X, trackpad or whatever. And you have to discount the cheap keyboard.

Yep, that’s new. Which is odd because Apple said they couldn’t use it since it’d be a battery killer. I guess Intel’s lack of LPDDR4 forced Apple’s hand here.

Will be interesting to see the battery hit.
Battery size on the 15" increased from 76 Wh to 86.6 Wh and on the 13" from 49.2 Wh to 58 Wh. That's an increase of 14 and 18%, respectively.

They actually claim they improved the keyboard a little:
I see techies on Twitter making snarky comments about this but I remember seeing plenty of complaints that the keyboard was too loud. Obviously whatever issues Apple was having with the keyboards isn’t going to be featured in a press release or on their website. They’ll just fix the issue and not talk about it.

Display card is really bad comparing with 2500 USD Gaming PC Notebook which normally equipped with GTX1070 8GB.
According to geekbench - open cl benchmark, GTX1070 is 138% faster than RX560 which also mean GTX1070 has more than double performance to RX560......Macbook "PRO"..its not real "PRO"

I know a lot of Mac users in the office, none of them have been waiting for or care about the Touch Bar.

Like for me, Magsafe and ports are much more important.
That's why I got the 2015 with dual graphics, MagSafe, and replaceable drive when when it last came up on the refurb store. Maybe TB3 will be more stable and affordable by the time I get another one, and maybe the touch bar will be gone.

Is it worth upgrading my 2017 MacBook Pro if I’ve had no issues ?
Quieter keyboard would be nice but doubt it’s worth the money I would lose selling my current one.
I have a 2017 15" and I would not do it, personally I don't find the keyboard loud. But I can't wait to go down to my local Apple pusher and see the new display, have always been an important factor for me when using electronics

Yeah, they did say its quieter but does that mean the mechanisms were changed to be more resilient to debris?
No, but they laptops now come with a slip of paper in the box highlighting that keyboard issues are covered for four years.

After having purchased near maxed 2017 mbp tb 13 a few months ago this is a little disappointing. 32gb ram and 2tb ssd sounds nice but probably significantly more expensive than what we paid I assume. Oh well. We are happy with our laptops (wife and I).

Edit: No 32GB for 13' model. 2TB SSD is $1200. Ok. Not disappointed anymore. :p

Are you a time-traveller from 2008? Because you are about 10 years late with that complaint. MacBook Pro has always had integrated graphics.
I know about it, just that it's wrong.
It all comes down to the fact that Intel Iris is crap, and putting it into a computer labeled "Pro" with a "Pro" price tag is just wrong and stupid.
Bundle it with the regular MacBook, but not with the MacBook Pro.
