Good that the 13 inch has finally gone quad core. Shame there is no dedicated graphics option.

Shame they've stuck with that stupid keyboard.

Also a shame you can't buy the thing without the Touch Bar, and MagSafe continues to be absent.

That might be for the 2017 models, but given that this was just announced we have no idea if the 2018 model will be covered. There's also the fact that if it does fail, I'll lose time due to repair turn around. So while it may not cost my any money, I'll be without a laptop for at least a week. That's not something I want to consider when I'm spending almost 3k for a premium computer.
I was joking. By pointing out the absurdity of releasing a new model that would need to come with a waiver that the keyboard might break, I wanted to underline that Apple must have improved things (or at least that they applied changes that they think will improve reliability, whether it will actually be more reliable is another questions).

Thanks for dropping the ball yet again Apple. Not updating the nTB with quad core means you won't get my money.
Not for nothing, but apple creates its lineup to meet the majority of consumers, they can't please everyone. I wouldn't qualify that as dropping the ball. They want to promote the TB and so offering a nTB with the same power goes against their business plan

Oh, I really thought they were doing that

Price of a car for a laptop totally crazy!

That's the reason why you would buy a MacBook or MacBook Air instead.
Older MacBook Pro's had both an Integrated and "Pro"GPUs that could be used depending on the needs. It was supposed to be a "Revolutionary Feature". What happened to that?

This was back when integrated graphics were good only for basic 2D. That just isn’t the case today. Iris is good enough for 13” machine. Those who want performance wouldn’t look at anything but the 15”.

Maybe, but right now apple is fighting a negative perception and without a major change that's an uphill battle.
How would we know what the major change was without Apple specifically saying? Some are just assuming the issue was the butterfly design itself when we have no evidence to support it. Also it seems some want to use this specific issue to complain about a design they never liked in the first place.

Yeah, they did say its quieter but does that mean the mechanisms were changed to be more resilient to debris?
Well it wasn't changed for resilience since they started this last year before there were major complaints about durability.

Yeah 4TB NVMe. That’s why. Only real professionals need it. It would be nice to have but that’s a hell of a lot more than laptops ever had with mechanical drives.

What if I'm a PROfessional author using it to write my next best selling novel, or a PROfessional Project Manager handling a multi-million dollar development effort?

I think it's probably more accurate to consider price vs. graphic subsystem, but not usage :)
Why don't you use a $150 chromebook? It does absolutely all the "professional" task you need and screen is as rubbish as macbook air.
