13-Inch MacBook Pro Highlights
Quad-core Intel Core i5 and i7 processors up to 2.7 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 4.5 GHz and double the eDRAM
....

This was the part to me that had me *slow clapping*.

13", Quad Core with HT, 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage is $2,199.
(Based on the base quad core i5 8259U (Info))
That's actually a decent price.

If this is our MacBook Pro for the next 18 months, I'm certainly happy.

  • 6-Core CPU that's actually modern
  • 32GB of RAM
  • Improved Keyboard

Not so good:
  • Higher ssd prices than I would personally like so I'll just go 1 terabyte since I Have an iMac at home with a lot more storage and RAM
  • GPU is unchanged from last generation and not too great so 4K Transcoding will still suffer (AMD not NVIDIA)
  • Still a 720P FaceTime Camera

I've grown used to the dongle lifestyle or at least more accepting of it. Time to sell my 2013 MacBook Pro 2.6Ghz i7 w/ 16GB of RAM and say hello to the future.

Display card is really bad comparing with 2500 USD Gaming PC Notebook which normally equipped with GTX1070 8GB.
According to geekbench - open cl benchmark, GTX1070 is 138% faster than RX560 which also mean GTX1070 has more than double performance to RX560......Macbook "PRO"..its not real "PRO"

Pro in this case does not mean Professional gamer. Developers, writers, enterprise users (for the most part) don't need a GTX1070 eating their battery when integrated graphics do just fine. If you need that kind of GPU, buy it and plug it in to TB3.

Gosh you guys are to quick in deleting. I edited the post as you deleted (made a mistake posted it instead of deleting the quote o_O

Anyways now I am lazy to rewrite my post...

Well sum it up check the prices of the 32GB/4TBSSS and i) config: CHF 7,416.10 (roughly same amount in US $). And it still has that crappy Radon Gfx card in it. The nVida Crads are better and have lower power consumption. Will buy myseld the MSi Lapto with a MSI GTX 1070 Gfx in it. Fraction of the price CHF 1'800.--

The Marketing guys at Apple are either still high on the last batch of weed or just down right greedy.:confused:

They obviously made this before the complaints regarding the keyboard. Same but quieter? That’s going to pi$$ a lot of people off. Same lack of ports? That’s going to pi$$ a lot of people off. 32GB RAM is nice but at the additional cost of £399.

So basically people will be still pi$$ed because Apple didn’t listen to their main complaints, just specced it up without addressing them.

Maybe, but right now apple is fighting a negative perception and without a major change that's an uphill battle.

I would be real skeptical to think this negative perception is widespread. The average person doesn't check sites like this or read tech blogs, so the degree to which the keyboard issue is known by the public at large is probably very limited.

The people they are fighting an uphill battle with are a very small (but loud) segment of the market. If you need a powerful laptop and want a Mac, this is your option. People can cross their arms and stomp their feet over to Windows land if they like, but sales and marketshare numbers don't appear to show that happening with any sort of large numbers.

My guess...these will sell fine. Just like the 2017 model did. Just like the 2016 model did. I have the latter and have been using it all day every day since December 2016 and (*knock on wood*) no signs of any issue with the keyboard. Hopefully Gruber's assessment of the situation is accurate and this is, by and large, a non-issue for the vast majority of users. And for those that are having problems.....Apple has you covered.

Good that the 13 inch has finally gone quad core. Shame there is no dedicated graphics option.

Shame they've stuck with that stupid keyboard.

Also a shame you can't buy the thing without the Touch Bar, and MagSafe continues to be absent.

MagSafe is history. Never coming back and the TouchBar isn’t going anywhere. I’m not sure why people are surprised. They weren’t going to abandon their plans because of a bunch of complainers online.

There is a distinct difference between "expensive" (2012-2015 Retina MBPs) and "over-priced" (2016+ MBPs).
You are getting more features than a Retina 2015 MBP and you called that one expensive and the new overpriced?...

£2199 for the 13" with 16GB and 512GB SSD, that is crazy talk!

Dell XPS 13 with i7-8550U, 16GB and 512GB SSD and 4K screen is £1599, £600 cheaper! Stick with a 1080p screen and it's £850 cheaper!

£850 is what I paid for my 2015 2.9GHZ 512GB 13"MBP and it's plenty fast for what people use a 13" laptop for!
