That's not even the worst part. Look at MacRumor's buyers guide: they're labeled "Buy now - Just updated". It's bad but comprehensible for a Company to lie about its' product. For MacRumors it's just shameful.
I don't think it's too dishonest, it's not like Apple are going to change the colours today and then do a spec bump next week. Disappointing or not, the line has been altered today, and therefore it's unlikely to change again for at least another year (or even 2/3 years in this particular case), so anyone who has been waiting for an update will be suitably informed when they check MR's guide, whether or not they feel that update has been sufficient to warrant a purchase or continue waiting is their own decision. I agree that "buy now" is a little much/misleading for this update (make no mistake, a colour update is still an update), but that's just the way MR set up the guide, it's almost certainly automatic and therefore deserving of being cut a little bit of slack in my book.

It's really sickening how Apple keeps selling the 16GB model... Literally thats such a joke. Same goes with the iPhone and iPad...

Not a bad deal at all for some people. If you have a huge library of music there's nothing out there you could put everything on anyway. Some of us don't mind refreshing the collection once in awhile. I keep some old favorites and some newer acquisitions on my mobile devices and switch them up periodically. Streaming cuts down on storage for more users now, too. Finally, its price almost certainly attracts some consumers who couldn't or wouldn't otherwise go for it.

If the 16GB configuration didn't sell at all, it wouldn't be for sale. And if you don't think the lowly iPod shuffle over the years hasn't served as the equivalent of a gateway drug, wake up! These things are pint-size, compared to the rest of their respective product lines, but they deliver the goods and they plant the brand.

I don't have any problem with the iPod touch still having a base 16GB config. For the 8 year old child that wants an i Device but is too young for an iPhone, they can get by just fine with a 16GB touch. And for those that want or need more, there are now 3 higher capacity configs that you can go with if needed.

I knew it was A8!!!! This is the closest the touch has been to the iPhone in specs since the touch 4.
Wait a few more weeks and as soon as 2GB of RAM land on the iPhone you'll see this status smashed into oblivion.

To make it all worse, the iPod is refreshed very irregularly and to think 1GB are here to stay for a prolonged period of time even though 1GB shouldn't have been in ANY iOS device in 2014 already (and one could argue before that as well)...

You just gave me an idea. Maybe I can use Siri to do automated trading. lol
You'll be lucky to have Siri do half of the things you can sensibly ask it to do for you instead of suggesting to search the web.

And would you really want an Apple online service handle your finances?
With all the problems they have in online services...

(in before people reporting that everything is ok on their end. Good for you, guys!)

Something else I'm curious about...why is there the black covering on the back opposite the camera and flash on the new iPod Touch?

As I recall from when I had a third-gen iPod Touch, that covering covered the area where the camera would have been. Now, the camera and flash are present on the iPod Touch and that covering has been moved to the other side on the back of the device. There doesn't appear to be anything in that spot on the iPhone 6 and 6+ so I'm not sure what they would be covering up on the iPod Touch. Any ideas?

That plastic cover has been there since the first iPod touch, and had nothing to do with the absence of a camera. Its sole purpose is to provide for better wireless connectivity in an otherwise closed aluminum back, as Bluetooth and WiFi antennas are located behind the plastic cover.

Only the 4th gen iPod touch didn't have such a plastic cover, and its wireless connectivity was significantly worse.

Was really hoping for a bigger screen like the iPhone. I'll just stick with my fifth generation. Still is pretty fast and works great with iOS 9. I find myself using my iPhone 5s more anymore though. And even iPhone is losing touch with me. I don't know, maybe I'm just becoming bored with iOS. But I am happy to see Apple continuing to support the iPod line up.

Are you serious? ALL they did was add new colors to the Nano and call it “NEW?” And it's STILL $149 according to Apple's site.

My thoughts exactly. 149 would be fine for the nano if it came with 64GB or something. It should be 99. I really want a small form factor iPod with a screen and don't want to jump up to the Touch, but it makes no sense money wise.

The 3rd gen touch's camera was going to be in the top-middle. The plastic is the radio-transparent window for WiFi.

I would have bought it today if it had two gigs of ram. Now I never will. I'm done with 1 gig or less iOS devices, period.

Yeah I know it will, however I'm simply remarking that the iPod Touch has not been so similar to iPhone specs since probably the Touch 3, as the Touch 4 had half the ram of the iPhone 4.

I think I'm going to pay Apple $70 to get a refurb 5th Gen to replace mine. The battery's shot, but I love the form factor and click wheel.

Finally have 128 GB model, great. But at this point 128 GB for $200 extra is price gouging. its time to get RAM more reasonably.

Also the Nano ought to have received a real re-fresh. Doesn't even work with new Apple music service.
