Apple today introduced the sixth-generation iPod touch with a 4-inch display, 64-bit A8 chip and M8 coprocessor, 8-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera and new colors: blue, pink, silver, space gray, gold and red. 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models are available through the Apple Online Store starting today for $199, $249 and $299 respectively, while a new larger 128GB model was introduced for $399.

Apple also updated the iPod shuffle and iPod nano with a matching lineup of colors.iPods have become an increasingly minor business for Apple over the past several years, with only 2.6 million units sold in Q4 2014, the last quarter when Apple reported iPod sales. Beyond new colors and storage capacities, Apple had last updated the iPod touch and nano in October 2012 and the iPod shuffle in September 2010.

I don't really see the value of owning an Ipod when people already have iphones.

Love it! With the iPad Mini gen 1 also gone, the Apple tv is all that stands in the way of the death of the A5. It's great that they went with the latest and greatest:)

Nice A8, this is specifically targeted for kids/ pre teens who have no phone yet. No wonder apple is highlighting the games as one of the main features.

I only have two questions:

Does it have 1GB RAM?
Does it work with the Apple watch?

If so, they have a sale! :)

With an A8 chip pushing less pixels (4 inch screen). This is even more powerful than the iPhone 6....nice!

'Equally as powerful'.

I find the CPU matching to be strange. The iPad Mini 3 got an A7 with TouchID. Now we have a Touch with an A8 but no Touch ID. Not to mention the A8 is massively overpowered for such a device. Guess developers will have to devote some time to 4" screen for the next few years at least.

lol 16 for 200 bucks?? haha man what a disucsting thing. anyone who buys this will be disapointed within week ,realising what no more space left to downlod one app? what an idiot thing 16gb man u serious there it coest 30 bucks at the grossery to buy a 64 gb usb stick common enough with that joke

Pretty nice update to the iPod touch which isn't exactly a flagship product. Shame there's no TouchID though.

As for the Shuffle and Nano, nothing more than a small token update. It's a shame they couldn't even update a few icons on the Nano to match the iOS 7 style! The Shuffle could also do with a price drop or an increase in capacity.
