Screenshots of LP/Extras in 3.0 Menu?

Could someone post screenshots of what the LP/Extras should look like in the 3.0 menu system? I'm reading in other forums where I'm not the only one having this problem. 9.0.2 enables the sync feature (which is ridiculous that you should have to sync, they should just stream like everything else), but multiple reports now of no access to the content through 3.0.

Screenshots please? :)

How is the new interface better than the old one? It looks terrible to me. So much wasted space at the bottom. Very un-Apple like. I'll wait to see what those who actually download it think, but my initial impression from the sample screen shots is that I might stick with the existing software, as the existing interface looks so much better.

What is with all of this "Un-Apple like" craziness. You guys put Apple on this pedestal that they have to be so perfect or it's not "Apple-Like". That might appear to be that way in YOUR eyes, not everyones. :p

HD YouTube?

The apple website mentions that YouTube videos are now in HD - anyone confirm this? This would really be a great bonus as crappy quality YouTube videos before were an embarrassment. Can't wait to check out new UI tonight.

hope this helps some of you

Reserve judgement

Slightly underwhelming update. Glad they haven't discontinued the Apple TV, but this is a clear sign they don't currently have big plans for it (unless some big new product is too far off, may be this is an interim measure).

I'm just hoping it fixes all the bugs I've had with the previous versions, especially the blank screens that require a restart on an almost daily basis.

He has a point tho.
High resolution makes not much sense without accordingly high bitrate.

The supported bitrate is currently very limited due to the slow hardware.

The only problem though with the connection is that bitrate is variable. As encoders and compressionist get better the subjective of a quality of the video can stay the same and the bitrate drops.

In fact I'm amazed that today's DVDs look better at an avg bitrate of 4-5Mbps than my oldest DVD which took about 7-8Mbps to achieve the same quality.

I'm glad they finally included the streaming radio channels they have been offering on iTunes forever.

I'm just surprised they haven't gotten around to offer this internet radio streaming on the iphone.

Oh noes, you mean the ATV won't play my torrented movies? What am I to do....?

People, stop dreaming of more native codec support for the ATV. It's not going to happen. Ever.

Yeah, because none of us have ripped our DVD collections using Handbrake for easier access

Thanks for bringing your misanthropy to the discussion.

I think the reason you can't see the iTunes LP stuff on the AppleTV yet is because Apple is in the middle of changing some stuff in the store.

I have two movies to try and neither works.

I'm trying with Wall-E and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

iTunes Extras, iTunes LP: Further Details

Just downloaded Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs DIRECTLY FROM THE TV and the Extras work just fine. Automatically goes to Extras menu when you click on the Movie title. Also, clicking and holding select button on the movie title brings up options (did it do this in 2.4 and I just missed it?) to either Start the movie, Resume the movie, Mark as Watched, Play Extras, or Cancel.

HOWEVER... no extras or LPs are syncing from iTunes 9.0.2 to tv 3.0 at this point. Can anyone help?

True. However, with the best codecs available (H.264) you still need a decent bitrate because of the sheer increase in raw, uncompressed bitrate that HD conveys. 1080p video alone has almost 5X the raw bitrate of DVD video. And don't forget the additonal bitrate for the newer audio codecs.

So am I the only one who thinks they should build a dev kit for Apple TV like they did for iPhone and iPod Touch?

This is a really great idea. I actually wrote apple feedback this morning suggesting ATV App Store. Apple needs to really step in and change the way we watch TV -- and not just by adapting the itunes music store model to video. With an ATV App Store, Apple would sell way more ATVs.

Lets get going here future.

"Apple-like," to me, means that Apple's products typically have very good looking interfaces, with everything organized in a clear, logical way, and no wasted space. This new interface, in my view, doesn't live up to those standards. The mostly black bottom of the screen on the front menu is my biggest problem with it. I like the old interface much, much better.
