so if i buy two macs to do get two ipods?

Or is it a one per customer stipulation? I don't see anywhere where it says that

Actually, they won't. My question is why do Nanos only get $199 off while Touches get $299? If a college student gets this deal just to sell the iPod on eBay/Craigslist, they can get the iPod Touch and get $100 more or whatever. Or maybe just make the rebate $199 for any kind of iPod (nano, classic, touch).

Even if the kids are selling them on ebay or craigslist, Apple is still getting more Touches into the market, creating demand for development for the Touch/iPhone OS Applications.

Do you have proof of this? I purchased mine on the 24th.

I spoke to someone this morning at the 800 number and that is what they told me.

Plus, apples policy on purchases is you have 14 days to return the item. Since the receipt has to be dated from the 3rd, you can return the item 14 days prior to the 3rd which is the 20th of May.

Not saying it's not a good deal because it is, but likely we will see new iPods soon.

I remember one year new iPods came out while the Back to School promotion was still on, you were unable to get the new iPods for free, instead you had to order an old one.

Still a great deal to get $299 off a iPod Touch, but if you want the latest and greatest, get the Touch free, sell it quickly and then buy the new model when it comes out!

To avoid a restocking fee, do not open the box when you get it. Arrange for a return, then once it's complete, repurchase.

If you ordered from Apple, assuming it wasn't a config to order, you can return it to an Apple retail store and they'll return and resell on the spot with the iPod.

When I purchased my MBP in March, that is what they did with me when I went back in to get the free printer.

"...may purchase an 8GB ($299), 16GB ($399), or 32GB ($499) iPod Touch to receive a $299 rebate. "

does that mean you pretty much get an 8GB ipod touch for free???

This is because not everyone wants a touch. Yes is is worth more so if you are going to sell it, the touch is the obvious choice. But if you want an iPod to take to the gym, or go one a run with, I'd much rather have the nano. Also, Apple is probably trying to change the face of the iPod from that silver and black block, to a slim and sleek touch surface. This is just one way of getting these out there.

As an earlier poster mentioned..your computer/iPod receipt has to be dated June 3rd or later to qualify, which is why you must return the computer and have them resell it to you creating a new receipt.

When's Apple going to update the Mac mini? That's the back to school special that I'd like to see. Boo Mr. Jobs!

... and the problem is?

I mean, suppose apple suddenly decided to replace the penryn with the montevina in July, DURING the BTS promotion, how mad/angry would students be? It would almost be like apple is using students as tools to offload old stock so that they can prepare to launch the new models!!!!
I may be wrong, but I would really hate apple for doing that!!!!!!!!

It's not like the MB's they buy over the next few months are going to cease working when the new ones come out. These are great machines with a great promo. Think about how much Apple privi's students. Discount hardware, applecare, promos, etc. It would take a lot more to upset the students.

yeah man. isn't that cool? but if you are getting an 3G iphone i guess the ipod touch is useless.

sorry i meant.. the way that it was stated..it sounds as though u can get the rebate when ure just buying the ipod touch (without the mac).. ..?
