some of those products were in the design line before Jobs died though.

The mini came out in what 2012? Didn't jobs say anything smaller than 9.7 was wrong?

The 6/6 plus came out in 2014. I doubt either of these had jobs design , more like ive.

If the iPad pro comes with a 12 inch screen is that gonna be jobs design too? I don't think so.

Poor design is correct. Obviously not "designed in California and made in China" rather "designed and made in China"... I Purchased a pair that failed, good luck getting support. Call apple, no call beats, no call apple. $45 ebay knock offs sound just as good I hate to say it. Apple earbuds that come with your iPhone are far superior in sound quality.

Ya know, Apple could still buy out some small sexy boutique headphone company for their patents and expertise, and then use that to make beats headphones that aren't junk.

Amusingly, Hifiman headphones are highly respected among audiophiles and they're made by a chinese company.

The problem with Beats by Dre headphones (and a lot of Apple products as well) is that someone needs to pay for their huge marketing budget, and it's you. Beats focuses less on audio quality and more on aesthetics and name recognition, which is why they drop huge amounts of money to run ads and convince celebrities to wear their headphones out in public.

This is pretty common for cell phone manufacturers (Apple, LG, Samsung, etc.); their phones cost about the same to make and sell for a similar price. But for headphones, Beats is pretty much the only one that spends tens of millions of dollars on advertising and endorsements. I do own a pair of Beats headphones but got them at a price 60% off retail which I think is much closer to what they should be priced at given their audio quality.

So Apple bought a company that financially rules the luxury headphone market, incorporated its 2 core members who have decades of music experience as well as connections all over the world, yet their making a big mistake? Yeah ok.

Yeah it's pricey but it's the best wireless headphones I've used

Those who cry about it being overpriced but then buy Apple products like they don't markup the price 500%

What's wrong with the bluebirds?
That they don't stay in my ears during a workout (despite using memory foam tips which take several minutes to push them into my ears), and the quality of a phone call reminds me of playing with cans connected with a string when I was a kid.

I've heard great things about these, but I was waiting for a Powerbeats 3 refresh. 6 hours of battery is a little low

Beats headphones aren't bad, but you should know that there are $100 headphones that will outperform them.
Well, which ones? Which $100 wireless earphones outperform them?

It's not a rethorical question, because I am seriously considering replacing my Jaybird Bluebuds with the Powerbeats2 in hope for a better fit, so if there are better ones for a lower price, then I would like to know.

I have a pair that is the best running/workout/skiing earbuds I've owned, but the lag is still there so you can't use them to watch videos. Too bad, because when I fly on airplanes I'd much rather wear those than the over ear headphones they usually provide you on the plane.

I was thinking about buying them but that's quite a problem... Maybe they've solved it with this little hardware update.

Wut? Everything above 3 hours is already amazing to me. Where is a longer battery runtime going to come from with such a small battery? It's not like there are huge advancements in battery technology, and I don't think there are wireless headphones which perform significantly better. My Jaybirds sure as heck don't.

These are $92 and have good reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-B...4317087&sr=8-69&keywords=bluetooth+headphones

I don't have personal experience with these, but there are reviews from people who have used these and the Powerbeats 2 headphones. Among them:
I am a tech geek and a bicyclist and was looking for the best sound without being dangerously closed to outside noise. I tried almost every set above the $70 mark over the last 10 weeks. I even purchased the power beats for $200. I also spin indoors now and watch movies while spinning on my iPad. These are by a great margin the best sounding, longest range and no worries about them falling out. The beats were good not great but the deal breaker for them is when it comes to movies. The sound was delayed a second and a half after the words were seen spoken. Can't believe they charge so much for junk. These shine in every category. They even have a app to check and update firmware. You won't be sorry!
You can also look at reviews for the Powerbeats 2 as well. Many of them compare the headphones directly with the Plantronics, and from what I can tell, the only advantage for the Beats is that they get a little louder.

This is the only question needing an answer. Have they fixed this in the latest version?

Unfortunately no.

EDIT: Actually it is fixed! I had no idea there was a firmware update (1.1.1) that fixes this. Just did it, working like a charm.

I've tried them and imo they're very capable for their intended use: playing music while training, basically, and also traveling in my case. I don't know what you do but I don't use hi-fi music, even less in those situations, and it's quite a snob and absurd thing considering the size both the source and the headphones would have if you do that, not to talk about the noisy environment, to use huge headphones with cable because their sound is more accurate.

Considering that, they're in addition one of the very few sport bluetooth headphones with the bluebirds, and those use to fall off, nothing less, which is a much bigger fault, for their intended use again, than having rich bass,. In this case at least, I think the bad opinions are simply by inertia or by absurd reasoning, I have professional Sennheisers at home but you've to know when and where to use each tool.

I mean, maybe abstractedly a Ferrari 488 GTB is a much better car than a VW Golf. But if you use both for shopping, I don't think so.

Your Jaybirds are rated at 8 hours. If a small company can accomplish that then I expect Apple to pull off 8-10

I don't understand all the hate. I have the Beats one and I like them. They aren't top of the line and sound like $100 headphones, but I only paid $100 and they do the job well.

I can honestly say Powerbeats2 are the best earphones I have ever owned. My music has never sounded better. I highly recommend them to everyone. They are well worth the money.

GOD those are some ugly headphones and terrible sound qualities why is Apple trying to be Hipster and Apple Music is also crap since no benefit for iTunes Match customers. People if you are going to spend $200 already save your money and just get a nice Bose headphone.

You can get a better fit replacing the tips with decibulz moulded tips ($25 roughly)

I wonder how many people would really appreciate the sound quality difference - especially listening to them on a train, bus or plane. If not then they become part of a style package - no different to a t-shirt or a pair of shoes.

Do Bose have wireless in ear headphones?

Denon Exercise Freak earbuds are my favorite. I've had a couple sets over the years and love them.
I tried the Jaybirds and have never liked them. I use them as a backup if I forget to charge the Denons.
I personally have no interest in buying anything Beats. Never really heard anything good about the sound quality.

its called great marketing. tell people what you want them to believe. then have plans set up for the future years in advance to change their minds into buying it. jobs had everything planned up until the watch.

While I agree that Beats headphones are pretty damn terrible consumer products, Bose headphones aren't that great either. Sennheiser, AKG, Audio-Technica, those make good cans. The HD598/M50x, for example, are both excellent studio monitors.
