Apple Launches Free iPhone 4 Case Program

Got my email confirmation about a couple hours after placing the order. Says my case will ship 8/27 and get here around 9/1. It's also showing up in my account page in the Apple store.
What do you search for in the iTunes App store from an actual iPhone to bring up this app? I can't seem to locate it in the App store from my iPhone 4.
Yes, I've had the order confirmation email come through.
Shipped by 27 Aug, arriving on or before 31 Aug.
i ordered an hour ago i still didnt get a email confirmation.. but after i ordered through the app "An order has already been received. when it ships we'll send you a ship notification email"
I went with the Speck Fitted Case. While I think it's the most ugly of all the bunch, it's a two piece case with fabric lining so I think it should offer a little more protection than the one piece cases
I don't think it shows up in search yet. You have to navigate to a web page on mobile Safari that has a direct link to the app.

You have to download the app to each phone and order them on both devices. The app uses you IMEI # unique to your phone so you'll be fine
It shows up in the Apple Store as soon as you order it, the email comes a little while later.
Interestingly the order numbers are of a different format to usual:
e.g.
WR000140000
If they're sequential, it's a fair guess that 140,000 odd have been ordered already.

Not likely to happen. With Apple I assume all they are making are black bumpers right now because it is cheaper and faster to just make a single color. I doubt this will change anytime soon.

Let me see if I can explain this...
Given:
1) You were already having trouble producing something fast enough to keep them in stock *before* you started giving them away for free.
2) You don't know, in advance, what colors are going to be popular or unpopular.
3) You'll now need two orders of magnitude *more* of the item than you did before.
Do you:
A) Dedicate the entire production line to one neutral color so you can get people the product as quickly as possible.
or
B) Slow the process down by producing your best-guess estimate for each color and risk being stuck with thousands extra of an unpopular color while running short on a popular color.
If you've got even the slightest business sense, you choose option A. Or maybe you just don't remember the production and stocking hassles with the original iMacs, where certain colors sold out almost instantly, and other colors practically couldn't be given away. (I had the pleasure of working at a CompUSA when the iMac was originally released. Purple and blue sold well, orange and lime? Not so much.)

No, SJ implied that you would be able to choose any of Apple's bumpers or a third party case. He never said that you could only choose the black one.
You may have extrapolated that you could get any color of Apple's bumpers, but what 'SJ' *said* is that you would be able to choose one of their bumpers, or a selection of cases from other manufacturers.
Find the quote from the press conference where he said you'd be able to choose any color. Oh wait, you can't.
Not really no. Apple is doing something to help people resolve a functional issue. You're complaining that it doesn't fit your particular *style* wishes. They're *not* doing this half-assed. If they want to understand, read the top part of this post.

I'm ashamed and embarrassed to know that so many iPhone users are a bunch of cry baby tool bags.
Of course they know. the bumpers had already been on the market for a while before they pulled them. They have plenty of stats to determine which were selling well and which were not.
They have more than one facility producing these bumpers. It would not be difficult to do what they were already doing. they could even pick two or three colors and dedicate each facility to that color. If you've got even the slightest business sense you would choose to do what you know will make your customers happy instead of doing something that will upset many who are already upset.
Hmm... I always through the external antenna a little odd. I didn't like the look or feel. Not as sexy. Now the antenna is back inside where it belongs and the iPhone 4 will fee right. It will also be a tiny bit bigger and the bumper will make it a bit more rugged. The latter is good.
if you care so much about what color your FREE bumper/case is, you don't deserve an iPhone. what's next, complaining that you can only have the iPhone in black or white. geez ppl get a grip.
Personally, i do not care as I have no reception issues with my phone and will probably continue to use it naked, however, since when did you have to prove yourself to be a certain type of person before you were entitled to own a phone? What is this deserving crap? If you have the money to buy it then you can buy it. Last time I checked there were no tests you had to pass before your were graced with the privilege of owning one.
Just got an email from apple that my free case won't ship till august 27 for September 1 delivery. That is real slow don't cha think!?
