Finder gets updated when you kill it via the Terminal.
Type in killall Finder and the Finder relaunches itself. Or if you have quicksilver you can do it with that.
Was almost in, but after I signed in I was redirected to apple.com/mobileme and mac.com still has that annoying maintenance message.

Re-launch the Finder by typing "killall Finder" into a Terminal window. It's faster than rebooting and the only time you should have to reboot is for kernel updates (10.x.x updates which update the kernel as well).

You're lucky, I'm surprised there isn't already a liam@mac.com
am I the only one with the spinning circle of boredom?
Hence why I said "re-launch Finder".
I'd say it'll be easier for people to hold down option and right click on the Finder icon in the dock, then click Relaunch.

You can just click the apple logo (top left) - force quit - select the finder - Relaunch!
