For how long do you want me to mess around with their crappy up-to-date program? Hours? Days? Weeks? Do you want to know what I earn for one hour in my job? I'll tell you: A multiple of 20 bucks.

Just out of interest, what apps were you needing to use for your work that you could only run under Mountain Lion? I assume that's the reason you needed to upgrade so urgently...

Apple support have said that they will be sending all people who applied a few days ago a new code by email as the codes were invalid that they gave out. all you have to do is wait. although you could keep trying that one to see if that works. Others who got their code today have been having that problem and apple have said they are also looking into fixing that problem. While others are still waiting to receive their codes. Its a busy day at apple HQ :L

thanks!

sorry for being a noob, i just found the post detailing what you just said xD

Wait and work.

Look I filled out their forms three times until it seemed to work. They wanted a image copy of my bill although my rMBP was an online purchase. Had to make a PNG screenshot of a PDF and upload it!!! Still uncertain if it will be accepted because my phone number has another format than the format in the form (comletely messed up), and my home country was USA and not Austria in the overview confirmation page.

I called Apple service (15 min) and they couldn't help. I told them that I'll buy now ML for the regular price. The guy said that he will look if he can arrange something for compensation. I didn't even ask for it. So I said in my OP: "maybe".

And now sorry. The update is pronto on the other machine. Download and install on rMBP less than 30 min.

Believe it or not, you don't have the inherent right to get something, especially software, the moment it comes out. Generally, launch days for anything are somewhat hectic, not just new OS's. Therefore, knowing this, if you were willing to spend your time to try and install the OS, and furthermore, ask others to fix your mistakes for you, then that's up to you. That just shows how much installing ML is worth to you in terms of your time and the opportunity cost. You aren't entitled to any compensation.

Currently doing this thread on my iPhone 4 while my Mountain Lion is on the downloading screen. Got 30 mins to wait but I am so excited! How's everyone's ML experience so far?? =]

now it looks like the Up to Date submission page is down. I was trying to get a code for my sister's computer and its returning an error.

Im going to look at the bright side though, now Ive got a day to catch up on all the other stuff that I need to do

Does it make sense to update older Macs?

I have a 2008? Macbook (black 250gb model right before they went to the unibody). I upgraded to Snow Leopard then Lion, but I feel like the benefits are diminishing, especially for features that take advantage of the multi-touch trackpad. Granted, it's only 20 bucks, but what benefits will I see? Does Apple outline this anywhere?

Well... S***. Since Apple will never update the iMac (Sarcasm). I guess its time to get Snow Lepord.... Then Lion... Then Cougar. I mean Mountain Lion.

I am still rocking Leporard because I was expecting a new iMac by now... WRONG. I got played by Apple.

Anyone else with a recently purchased mac still waiting on their download code? I requested mine with my serial number a few hours ago and haven't heard anything back.

I requested my redeem code an hour ago and haven't heard anything back. Those who are waiting, know you are not alone.

Well that was quick

I won't to demonize it (it is normal in Windows world, but most of windows users have AV software installed like MSE). I think it is always good to know that there is always some risk under OS X also. Hackers use always human weakest points like ignorance.

Launch of first trojan called Crisis or Morcut dedicated for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion:

"... and it doesn’t seem likely that it will run on the new OS X Mountain Lion due out today."

Just read this article till the end.

Just got a new redemption code! I reentered all my details on the up to date site and got a new code! although the site told me that my serial number was already in use...

FIX - Weird 52.25MB stuck issue

For those experiencing the weird case where the download stays stuck at 53.25MB, I've had that issue before, it seems like the ISP or something in the network is causing it to happen. I downloaded HotSpot Shield and after running it, the OS X download goes to full size.

same still waiting. like i said a bit ago i think they have stopped giving them out while they sort out the code already been used problem in the app store. should receive them soon i hope :)

This is not true. My girlfriend submitted a request for one a little while ago and just got it about 30 mins ago. The new code doesn't work just like the rest of them.

It's pretty messed up that they are still issuing invalid codes. It's been three hours now. How long does it take to reset the database fields and reissue the codes? Hint: less than three hours.

To be honest, if I had a pre-aluminum MacBook, I wouldn't bother with anything beyond Snow Leopard. Multi-touch is the primary benefit for me.

Is that even compatible with Mountain Lion? I believe you need the AL macbook or 2009~later to make it work.

I"m thinking about upgrading from Snow Leopard to ML on my iMac.

Is is possible to upgrade from 10.5.8 (Leopard?) straight to ML or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks

Downloaded the installer in 12 minutes and am installing the 'update'. Apple took care of their servers, downloading Lion on launch day took more time.
