If you have 10.5.8 you have to get to 10.6.8 first by using a snow leopard DVD. Then you can jump straight to ML.

I have a 2008? Macbook (black 250gb model right before they went to the unibody). I upgraded to Snow Leopard then Lion, but I feel like the benefits are diminishing, especially for features that take advantage of the multi-touch trackpad. Granted, it's only 20 bucks, but what benefits will I see? Does Apple outline this anywhere?
Yeah, I have 10.5.8 on my 2009 MBP.
Dug around and found the OS install disk that came with the iMac.
Disk says OS version 10.6.1.
So if I wanted to proceed, I'd install 10.6.1 on my MBP, then update to 10.6.8, then I could install ML?
Does that sound about right?
For those of you that know more than me, is all this hassle worth it to install on my 09 MBP?
Pleasantly surprised by the UK price...£13.99, was expecting £20+ Fast download too...So far, so good.![]()
Trust, you're not the only one.![]()
I'm in the same boat. It sounds like if you don't get an email within 20 minutes or so you're going to be waiting for a while. Has anyone who has waited for over an hour actually gotten a code?
mhhh..waiting 6 hours now, still no code![]()
I have been waiting a good 5 or 6 hours now and no code. I resubmitted my claim about 2 hours ago as well. -_- come on apple it's only a code.
I'm using Mountain right now.
Everything is working perfectly thus far.
Airplay is damn near flawless. I am streaming 1080p video from YouTube and it looks great.
Safari is awesome!!!!
New gestures!
I tried to resubmit and an error came up saying that the serial number was already in the system. Shouldn't be too long......or at least that's what i'm telling myself.
anyone have any idea how long it takes for the code to be submitted through email? im so desperate every time i get an email I'm![]()

Friendly advice from a former IBM big iron systems programmer: check with your oem software vendors (microsoft, adobe, etc) to see if they have any issues with or updates for their apps related to compatibility with the new operating system BEFORE you put it on your system.
It's looking like Apple have messed this up
I submitted my claim when the update site temporarily went live the other day, but never received my e-mails.
Today, still no e-mails so I tried re-submitting but the site said that this serial number had already been submitted. So I rang Apple and after doing battle with that stupid Siri-like natural language voice system I finally got to speak to someone.
He said he could see my submitted claim and said he would re-send the e-mails - an hour later there's still no sign of them.
He did however give me the website address where I should report this - expresslane.apple.com then All Products & Services -> iTunes -> iTunes Store -> Purchases, Billing & Redemption -> The topic is not listed, then enter a Subject in the box that appears, click Continue, and you'll get a page to e-mail them the details - include the serial number of your Mac. The chap I spoke to said they would process it ASAP and that they are working flat out.
I'll give it another half-hour then do that.
