If you have 10.5.8 you have to get to 10.6.8 first by using a snow leopard DVD. Then you can jump straight to ML.

Yeah, I have 10.5.8 on my 2009 MBP.

Dug around and found the OS install disk that came with the iMac.
Disk says OS version 10.6.1.

So if I wanted to proceed, I'd install 10.6.1 on my MBP, then update to 10.6.8, then I could install ML?

Does that sound about right?

For those of you that know more than me, is all this hassle worth it to install on my 09 MBP?

I have a 2008? Macbook (black 250gb model right before they went to the unibody). I upgraded to Snow Leopard then Lion, but I feel like the benefits are diminishing, especially for features that take advantage of the multi-touch trackpad. Granted, it's only 20 bucks, but what benefits will I see? Does Apple outline this anywhere?

Your macbook is not on the upgrade list. I have the same model (white) and feel bummed about it but not surprised.

You can't use that disk, grey disks are machine specific. You need a retail of SL or Lion thumb.

gonna let the whole rush drama slide, will be till next week before i update:cool:

Thanks to my awesome internet:( its gonna take a week to complete the download:mad:

Woke up at 5:35 am to download, went back to sleep. At 9:20 I woke up and started the install process. It just finished, logging in!

Ive applied for 4 machines, got a code for the second one I tired but "its been used", havent gotten codes for the other 3 machines one of which was placed before the one I got, strange....

I have been waiting a good 5 or 6 hours now and no code. I resubmitted my claim about 2 hours ago as well. -_- come on apple it's only a code.

I tried to resubmit and an error came up saying that the serial number was already in the system. Shouldn't be too long......or at least that's what i'm telling myself.

anyone have any idea how long it takes for the code to be submitted through email? im so desperate every time i get an email I'm

I'm using Mountain right now.

Everything is working perfectly thus far.

Airplay is damn near flawless. I am streaming 1080p video from YouTube and it looks great.

Safari is awesome!!!!

New gestures!

Anyone know if Amazon Video streams will work via AirPlay?

Friendly advice from a former IBM big iron systems programmer: check with your oem software vendors (microsoft, adobe, etc) to see if they have any issues with or updates for their apps related to compatibility with the new operating system BEFORE you put it on your system.

Good advice. Unlikely that many will heed it, then they will come on here to rant!

It's looking like Apple have messed this up

I submitted my claim when the update site temporarily went live the other day, but never received my e-mails.

Today, still no e-mails so I tried re-submitting but the site said that this serial number had already been submitted. So I rang Apple and after doing battle with that stupid Siri-like natural language voice system I finally got to speak to someone.

He said he could see my submitted claim and said he would re-send the e-mails - an hour later there's still no sign of them.

He did however give me the website address where I should report this - expresslane.apple.com then All Products & Services -> iTunes -> iTunes Store -> Purchases, Billing & Redemption -> The topic is not listed, then enter a Subject in the box that appears, click Continue, and you'll get a page to e-mail them the details - include the serial number of your Mac. The chap I spoke to said they would process it ASAP and that they are working flat out.

I'll give it another half-hour then do that.

The one upside of us taking ages to get our codes will be that there will be less strain on the servers now so we should get a bit of a faster download :p

I just called AppleCare here in Denmark and asked why it could take so long for sending a code for me when i placed my "order" at 14.50 and haven't got any here at 19.40. And she would send the email one more time.. Hope it goes faster.. Im really thinking of buying it !
