Apple Launches OS X Mountain Lion via Mac App Store for $19.99

You can't use that disk, grey disks are machine specific. You need a retail of SL or Lion thumb.

Thanks for the heads up!

So aside going out to buy the retail version of SL or Lion thumb, there really is no other way of upgrading then, huh?

How are some of you submitting a second time? When I get the page with my serial number and click continue it says: "This is an already claimed serial number."

Also, when I entered my info I purchased from a reseller and it didn't ask me for any proof of purchase. Hmmm....

Although I agree with what you say, if you can't handle this forum, perhaps you could not read it? Just a thought... ;)

the serial was different on my receipt then when i check thru about my apple and then more info.

So i will see what happens when i check my email tomorrow

Geez, to all the whiners about not getting their claim numbers within a second.

Can you just chill out and learn how to wait?

Use your head and figure that millions of people are upgrading and the download highway is full of cars going to the same destination.

Just a logical traffic jam!

A few days ago everybody was waiting for the date when ML was going to be available, so you had to wait then.

Besides that you knew that ML was coming, maybe buy new MACs after the release would have been a better idea?

Is all your current stuff working?

Yes? Then just stop whining and wait!

Yes, here: I down vote myself already for ranting , but this instant gratification entitlement generation that can't wait for one thing is unnerving!

I'm sorry but what gets me is the incompetence of it all.
A stupid way to handle this.
Why were these redemption codes necessary?
Surely Apple ID plus machine serial numbers should be enough.
It annoys me that we have to jump through all these hoops and Apple can't even get the forms correct!

When I try to buy a new MacBook Pro from Apple's online store (the 2.3 GHz with 15" Retina display to be exact), my "online cart" still shows that the MacBook will come bundled with OS X Lion.

Does anybody know when they'll update the online store to start selling MacBooks bundled with Mountain Lion?

In about 72 hours when the Apple factory gets their redemption codes to d/l the update :p

I am not a tech or Apple genius, so don't pounce on me if what I'm saying is illogical, but maybe they are bottle-necking the upgrade process for redemption codes in order to moderate the load their servers are taking on with all the downloads? Their online store nearly explodes every time an iPhone or other model is released and everyone attempts to order it, I imagine things could be even worse if everyone was downloading Mountain Lion at the same time?

Is anyone else having issues with Time Machine? I did a clean install of mountain lion and went to "browse other backup disks" to do a restore of a few folders and the list of disks is blank. I've checked the time machine backup drive and the backup file is there and everything is correct. Any ideas?

When ever they use up the stock with the ones with lion pre installed dont worry you will be able to upgrade to mountain lion for free if you get one.

didn't think about that! it make sense!!

Mine is 3 1/2 hours in and only half way complete. Such is the joy of living miles away from the exchange. BT Infiity coming soon though, bye bye 1.7mb hello 50mb
Hi Jan, well I'm just around the corner in sunny Wakefield!

Just finished downloading and installed, now installing a bunch of apps which have Updates for ML.

yes, Infinity is due here in September hopefully :)

I've successfully downloaded ML but am having trouble downloading the updates for the iWork suite off the App Store. Is anyone else having these problems?

Not my point. As a frustrated teacher at heart I like to point out when people are unreasonable and don't think.

Complaining about an avalanche of requests which in this case needs to be verified is unreasonable in my book.

OMG , having to wait 72 hours for a code for something they lived their entire life without.................

The world is coming to an end, screw what is going on in Syria and other parts of the world, I need ML now!!!!!!

(don't get me started again:)

You need the MAS to upgrade..it's a $50 upgrade for you, so give it some thought, it'll be here through 10.9 or 11 or whatever comes next..Leopard/Snow Leopard are really just GREAT.

16 hours to finish still, i've been going for 4 hours already with this download.

First world problems, I know. I want to get a move on with this fresh install!

I'm sorry, as I have said it's the basic incompetence of the process that annoys me. The code claim process is unnecessary. Apple ID plus serial number should be enough. Also silly mistakes in the form itself - not giving the MacBook Air as a choice, a US specific address format. These are problems which should have been spotted earlier.

Mine is at 8 hours 2 minutes to go. Took about 3 hours to go down 20 minutes. The download bar is indeed moving but the clock doesn't' seem to be. LOL

Seriously folks... Where can I see how much is already downloaded and how long it will approximately download? I only got the icon on launchpad:confused:

Thanks for your help!
