Oh look. They improved the camera each generation. Must be because of some camera bug users were complaining about. Same for the screen. And processor. Etc. etc.....

They improve phones to make them better. Not because of some inherent guilt you think they have...

I am really tired of all these excuses from Apple apologists.

Until recently, iPhones shipped with no so decent cameras, but that didn't prevent the phone from being used as intended.

Blind. Blind. That’s what you are.
I used to work for a large manufacturer and I can absolutely promise you without a shadow of a doubt that improvements are made to products from design flaws that they know about and keep silent.
It happens with both hardware and software.
If you seriously belive that only the OEM knows what they are doing with a product and can assess a design flaw you are wilfully ignorant.
To add to that, Samsung produces the chips and probably screens in the iPhone. Apple did NOT, they merely assembled. By your logic only Samsung will know about any failures and Apple will have to take their word for it?

Agree, the "Apple movement" post that you were responding to might possibly be the most asinine and tragic ever posted on MR. It's certainly a contender. Absolute buffoonery!!!
If we posted a top 10 of the most rediculous posts ever on MR, I'm pretty sure which posters name would be along side them . The most tragic thing though Is that I honestly believe he's serious when he posts stuff.

Just because Apple is playing around with ideas of a car and tesla working on some next gen product you think the 2 industries are the same?! no comments then I suppose.
I think you completely missed the point here or even what an analogy is intended to convey.

my question is...what is the "repair process"

They replace the screen and outer shell generally and If a hardware issue found then they replace the faulty part along with the outer shell.

Give you someone else's old iPhone 6 Plus that have had the Touch ICs resoldered.

Considering that in the past Apple's refurbishment QC has shipped out touch diseased phones...

Apple will give you a new screen, outer shell, and battery, and ... someone else's touch diseased circuit board.

My 6+ has so far been fine. I hope there are some that are solid and mine's randomly one of those.

Admittedly it does have the camera crescent thing but that makes no practical difference, it behaves as normal.

Just curious, but what is the camera crescent issue? Is it an artifact that shows up in pictures? Thanks.

It's the same thing when someone says I'm proud to be American or British or anything else. Ha ha ha.
The UK is run by Apple.......taxes only ever go up, anything goes wrong and it's never the governments fault, most of the ministers (execs) are rich but incompetent, the infrastructure nevers gets updates....

Can confirm from a friend that works at the Apple Store that this repair program is a phone swap. I don't have much confidence in the replacement phone and only having a 90 warranty. I would gladly pay $150 if Apple swapped it for a 6s+.

So Apple claiming this problem occurs by dropping the phone multiple times without any evidence is enough for you to believe them, but multiple thread posts have mentioned this is has been an out-of-the-box issue and you want evidence to back it up? Kind of a double standard, huh?

Yes I am far more likely to believe a major company with a long history of reliability over random people yelling on the internet. I'm frankly shocked people think that's surprising.

Making me more likely to no believe these same people yelling on the internet are the way they attack anyone who doesn't immediately agree with them that Apple is a terrible monster.

If you want someone to believe what you say, attacking them when they express doubt is not a good strategy.

And I'm really tired of people acting like their viewpoint is the only one that's possibly true and those of us who don't jump on board are blind Apple apologists.

LOL. Just LOL. A corporation makes an ambiguous statement with no back up and you believe it flat out. Unreal and tragic at the same time.
You know vending machines, fruit machines and sometimes shipping boxes have shock sensors. iPhones have accelerometers, (that know what has happened to the phones). What they could have done is maybe along the lines of, “We’ve examined data from the handset hardware logs and we conclude categorically that there is a trend where X has happened……….”. At least there may then be some substance to their assertions.

Every time you sync your phone iTunes will down load crash and technical logs from your device. Why not put the case forward properly if the evidence is there?

It's where the lens assembly of the FaceTime camera shifts slightly to one side, so the surround is visible through the little hole, looking like a crescent moon.. Some users got it so badly the camera's was affected, but in my case it's just cosmetic.. so far. It mostly happened to people with space grey iP6 (not plus) but apparently 6+ gets it too. :(

(Not my photo, just found it w/google, but it's exactly what mine looks like)

What happens if that phone does the same thing after 90 days? Is that another 150 bucks to replace?

History of reliability? What history of reliability?

This is a company that has for years denied responsibility and only offered free repairs after class action lawsuits.

Case in point: Apple didn't launch the "Repair Extension Program" for the 2011 MacBook Pro until 2015 after denying the issue for years.

this is why im dropping apple. im no longer buying apple products. Apple has turned into a sales gimmick instead of treating their customers as fans. the $300 book put the nail in that coffin. totally ridiculous. screw apple.

It isn't because customers drop them. Here's a video:

It's a manufacturing error, and not the customer's fault. To ask people to fork up $150 for their own mistakes is a joke. Stop sucking up to Apple.
[doublepost=1479576970][/doublepost]ya im gonna give android another try. probably go with the samsung note.

Unbelievable! 2017 will be the year to try other ecosystems.
[doublepost=1479577095][/doublepost]whats your proof that the flying spaghetti monster isn't the creator of the universe and Ctuhlu is the almighty lord of the planet earth? huh? wheres your proof its not?

see cant really prove a negative.

what's your proof that they didn't drop them? posts on a rumors site? riiiight.

Let me explain the real issue here.

Lets say an iPhone costs $150 to make.

100 000 000 (one hundred million) x $150 = $15 Billion is lost costs. In perspective The Note 7 Disaster is about $2 billion.

So lets get the suckers to pay for their own replacement so it costs apple nothing....... Apple will do anything....anything not to admit faults in iPhones , cause the replacement costs become huge based on units sold.

This is my exact opinion on why they wouldn't admit it's a design flaw.

Let's not forget the MacBook Pros Peel Gate where the screens anti reflective coating was peeling off. Took a while for them to acknowledge this

its 2 years old. how is that "so old" do you buy a new tv every 2 years? a new car evey 2 years? wtgrape is wrong with you?
Yep, some people do. Part of everything that's wrong with the world.
I have a 16 year old espresso machine, 10 year old boots, 8year old Plasma TV all in great working condition.

I used to receive new phones every 6 months (for free) while working in that industry, but now buy them with a horizon to keep them for 3 years and possibly longer if Apple keeps disappointing me.

It's called different industries and expected lifetime. By this logic, how many houses do people buy in their entire life?! Might as well expect everything in this world to last for over 100 years then eh?

Interesting time - had my iPhone 6 Plus checked out for a faulty lightning port connector so charging and synching was intermittent and could cause data loss. It was over 2 years old. Did not have this screen issue however the AASP advised they cannot fix the fault despite everything they did. I advised Apple of this possible issue with the screens and this is why I was reluctant to accept an iPhone 6S Plus as an exchange. I contacted Apple Executive Relations and arranged to get an iPhone 7 Plus 128GB and just pay the upgrade price of AU$190. Im now very happy I chose the iPhone 7 plus and avoiding the 6 series.

What a joke. I swapped my 6 plus out a year ago because of this. Had never been dropped and was in an otter box case. The first replacement they tried to give me was infected as well as soon as the "genius" opened the box.
