This is a good example how i can't buy the new MacBook Pro i need.
Too much money, no support.
I got 4 mac pros, a macbook pro and other apple stuff, can't upgrade anything from the past, can't upgrade in the future, if its broke, buy completely new. I know it'll be my fault in the eyes of Apple when their stuff breaks while using it.

Are they serious, $149?! Mine had it, it was never dropped, spent it's whole life in a case with a glass screen protector on. Ended up claiming on my insurance which cost a lot less than that and they replaced it with a refurbished one.

At least Samsung owned up to their mistake. Not saying they're perfect but they can admit a mistake when necessary. Apple on the other hand...

But only once it became a very 'burning' issue :)

But agree regarding Apple: Kind of admitting it is a design fault and charging 150 Bucks is a bit abusive. They should either charge a smaller fee or make it into some kind of upgrade program where people get a new / refurbished one for a good price. If by paying $149 people get a new phone, everybody is happy.

This is only a design flaw if failure is occurring that shouldn't under normal operating conditions. Otherwise its simply a design limitation, and design limitations exist in every product created or that will be created.

If its a design limitation and not a design flaw, then its entirely possible Apple came up with a different/better design that was less susceptible to this in the later 6s line. That doesn't mean the previous design was a flaw.

Those who are lambasting Apple about charging for a design "flaw" are putting the cart ahead of the horse, first you have to prove the design WAS flawed, that failures are occurring within normal usage Apple clearly believes thats not true, they are, in fact, offering a discounted price for fixing something that, at least according to their announced position, is due to user caused abuse of the device. You can believe its a flaw, you can present an argument that its a flaw but its not factually certain that it is, and acting as if anyone who disagrees with you has ignored your argument/is being a blind fanboy, makes you look worse, not them.

Provide your evidence, plead your case, and if Apple continues behaving in a way you disapprove of take your business elsewhere.

When you have $800 invested in a phone that doesn't work, and you didn't drop the thing?
A full refund first, then take your business elsewhere is more like it.

A "disease" that occurs more than a year later... And people are naive enough to pretend they never once dropped their phone or did anything to them to cause parts to loosen up? It's completely on the users, regardless of what click-seeking websites say.

Wrong and naive. The problem didn't occur for almost every complainer until a year after owning the 6. There's no way in the full year they never once dropped their phone or never did anything that could have damaged the internals. It's complete idiocy to think that the users did nothing to their phones that could cause this.

Charging for a design flaw is awesome if they get away with it. I love Apple but that sucks.

My friend dropped his week old Samsung s7 , took it to Samsung shop and paid full screen replacement as it was his fault. Cost was 50euro!
He was delighted. His warranty (including waterproofing) is intact also. He is very happy.

Watch the video in the article, for God's sake. They took out the metal shields that protected the component responsible for touch, and replaced it with a "sticker." They also upgraded the Aluminum from the 6+ to the 6s+ to a more sturdier one. These are all things that Apple is at fault at, not the customer.
That's bizarre. That's like saying your car manufacturer is at fault if you get into an accident, because they put seat belts and airbags into the car.

Multiple hard drops are the user's fault. If Apple improves products so that the user's fault doesn't cause damage to the user's phone, that's good news. If you drop the phone in the toilet it's your fault. If Apple makes the phone more water resistant to reduce the chance of damage, it's still your fault.

Yep their Customer Service hotline is not as friendly as they used to be either. A couple of weeks ago i had a question regarding my Apple Care+ and that lady literally forwarded me the terms of conditions and told me to look for the answer myself.

Last week i had to get my earphones replaced. Before they were very friendly and just sent me a new pair. Now they ask for my credit card info and that i should send back the old ones like ...

The headphone thing may just be simply due to change of their policies recently. They don't just replace devices either.

Not the similar situation though. Apples design make them compact and less prone to failure and most of the times the devices last so long that people just buy new when something fails. If you're really looking to get a MacBook I will always suggest taking Apple care.
 
You can't prove the reverse either - that every phone which exhibited the behaviour must have been dropped.
Let's look at how this is treated under EU consumer law.

After six months, the seller has to get the phone fixed if you can prove that the phone was faulty when you purchased it. In the first six months, the seller has to get the phone fixed unless the seller can prove that the phone wasn't faulty when you purchased it.

Seems clear to me.

Erm, I have never dropped my phone since the day of iPhone 4S. And yes I do take care of my phones as much. There's no way is a bold claim my man.

Apple has the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the industry precisely because they do care, and because they are obsessed with delighting all of us as loyal Apple customers.

I am proud to be an Apple customer. I could not say that I share the same pride about any other company I choose to buy products from. Could you?

I love Apple and I'm proud to be an Apple customer. That's why I'm a MR member and post on here. If you don't love Apple, what the hell are you doing on a site like this?
You do not need to "love" Apple to be here, even if you simply use their product can stay here, heck even if you don't use them.

Ford Admits X models suffer from specific Engine damage due to accidents hitting solid objects, and offers you a discounted replacement price for a new car....... 50% off.....

My first thought is.....yeah NO **** accidental damage leads to things breaking......But I have never Crashed my Ford and I have engine problems....so Do a lot of my friends.

If this was not apple, people would be horrified if a company treated them this way. Just reading this thread there are numerous people that Have experience this issue without dropping their phones.

The Absolute gem of this LAME excuse is that there is a very good chance that everyone at some point has dropped their phone....so lets blame a manufacturing defect on something that most probably has happened during the life cycle of ownership....though yet again, some users have received units with this issue without dropping.

Arrogant and insulting.

Let me explain the real issue here.

Lets say an iPhone costs $150 to make.

100 000 000 (one hundred million) x $150 = $15 Billion is lost costs. In perspective The Note 7 Disaster is about $2 billion.

So lets get the suckers to pay for their own replacement so it costs apple nothing....... Apple will do anything....anything not to admit faults in iPhones , cause the replacement costs become huge based on units sold.
 
It's not us.. it's you. Sorry - even though I'm not affected by this (thankfully) - I know people that have had this happen without having dropped their phone. But sure - blame the customer

Phones get dropped all the time. And there can be no outside damage showing, especially when the owner has their phone encased. This sounds like a manufacturing or design defect and Apple should step up.

My point is that they should take responsibility. The mac pro was designed to upgrade. However, after a while, it wasn't. The premium cost should go with premium service, not lies and discarding responsibility.
1100 days waiting for a new mac pro also is a kick in the nuts for companies relying on a ecosystem and where they invested in. You just can't count on Apple. Build quality is top notch, service not (anymore).

Maybe, but the 100% haters should get lost. I am literally sick to my stomach of all the crying and whining from haters who clearly show no loyalty or affinty towards the Apple movement.

I had a 6 plus that started showing these symptoms after having the phone for about 6-7 months. Took it to the Apple Store and they gave me a refurbished phone. A month later that same phone started doing the same thing. Phone was dropped or put in back pocket to bend. Some phones are just crap man. Why jump to a conclusion when you clearly don't know everyone's story?
