I just want to say one thing: I expected iOS 10 beta 2 would be released along with public beta 1. Anything could happen.
But then I need to find a way to recover my message history manually. Don't even know if it is possible.

Beta 2 is not ready for public use.

Hey devs! How buggy is it? May I ask... which bugs are the most serious ones? Like ones you would report in Feedback in the following categories:

1. "The issue prevents me from using iOS 10 at all"
2. "The issue makes it very difficult for me to use iOS 10"

Doesn't seem to have dropped yet. Mac App Store only offering my El Capitan beta 5 and no Sierra is showing up yet, although I'm signed up and enrolled.

Just a piece of advice: I'd recommend running this on a SECONDARY device for the time being, so an old iPhone, iPad, or iPod would do the job nicely. If you install it on your primary device, some things may not work, so you have been warned!

Well, you know what they say: if you're not totally embarrassed with the first [second, in this case] version of your product, you've released too late.

Beta 2 is adequate for public beta. It's not terribly embarrassing but it needs more usage so beta 3 can end up being way better.

It's not terrible, it's just that the public tend to be less forgiving and will expect beta software to work as well as release. There's lots of quirkinesses and slow downs, battery draining and glitches I've noticed which are still present in beta 2. Certain things just not working properly. Something I've noticed today is that I'm being forced to the bottom of a webpage whenever I enter text on a webpage and hit either backspace or return keys. Also Messages notifications sometimes appear blank when viewing the thread within the notifications.

Like I said, it's not terrible things but stuff the public will moan about.

The real question we need answered is if Pokémon Go is compatible with iOS 10 or not. I'm running the latest PB 9.3.3 and it works fine, but if I have to choose between the two, it is Pokémon FTW.

It is not, but that game is terrible anyway. It has more bugs than iOS 10.

You may have to go to the official Apple Beta Program website and then it will allow you to set up a provision profile to allow OTAs. I don't think they distribute the Public Betas through the App Store.

Edit: You need the beta profile, plus I don't think the beta has dropped yet. I'm thinking 10 AM Pacific.

There are no bugs like that in iOS 10 b2. It's mostly minor annoyances. Hence why it's going public.

WOW... I dont think iOS 10 Beta 2 is ready for public testing... Its going to be a nice upgrade but when facebook crashes pretty consistently and it seems like battery life is taking a hit. Im guessing the average "public" tester isnt going to handle that very well. Im not complaining its a beta its all part of the process. But I know friends who would try this beta because its public beta. Must be good enough... Im thinking they should wait for beta 4.

I'd call that a feature.

Oh great, 6 months of news mongering about iOS beta version updates followed by iOS 10 official release which will be full of flaws and security holes.

I don't know why Apple bothers with a public beta because their beta programs have NOT improved release quality at all. This is just for a bunch of fanbois rushing out to be the first to use iOS 10 and none of them ever report one issue back to Apple, or they only use 4 apps and never fully test the full features of iOS. Apple needs to improve internal testing greatly instead of relying on public feedback, pushing betas to sycophants is never a valid Q/A cycle.

Also, if these early betas are for app developers it is also a fail because many apps still don't work properly for weeks after an official iOS release. Either Apple is slow to release updated apps on their store, or developers simply wait to see what new nightmare Apple has introduced in their official iOS release.

Also its 2016, I should not have to modify an existing app to work on a new version of the OS. I haven't had to do that on Windows for over 10 years, a 10 year old properly written app works on Windows 10 and will continue to work, period.
If it didn't improve the public release they wouldn't do it. Kind of hard for you to say no one submits feedback either, especially since you don't work for Apple. Me and everyone I work with that is on public betas have at least 10-20 bug reports per beta. Can't argue the internal testing though, they're initial public release could be much better.

I was so excited for the game, but after the gameplay was revealed, it looked like poop. I'll skip for now.

It's very disappointing, but then again, Niantic made the game and not Nintendo so I wasn't expecting much. The AR sucks (Pokemon jump around the camera interface, disappear and reappear randomly), the game eats up all your battery in 1 hour, and the game wants you to buy IAP.

WARNING: If you plan to install this on any device (primary or secondary) ensure that Two-Factor authentication is DISABLED and for the mean time use Two-Step authentication as some users are reporting that they have been locked out of their Apple account and Apple themselves can do nothing about it.

The security methods above are different and NOT the same!

I've tried this in case the problem is existing in the public beta too, but if you signed out from TFA you have to wait 3 days to signup for TSA. I'm using the security questions now, no other way as to wait 3 days to signup for TSA.

Windows and iOS both move forward in different ways when it comes to app functionality. Apple makes small API additions and changes every year, and some of those changes cause apps to break until they're updated. Microsoft stayed on Win32 for decades, and now they're trying to transition everyone to UWP. Microsoft's method is good for compatibility purposes, but there is little incentive for many developers to write UWP apps right now (this would be different if people actually bought Windows phones). Apple's method causes a little bit of heartburn once a year, but allows new functionality to propagate to developers and their apps in a timely manner.

It's a weird comparison, but there you go.

I think the public beta is a good thing, just not this early in the process. Maybe once four hits. Now there are going to be complaints from many stating that their favorite app doesn't work, or a process they are used to doesn't work.

Question: How stable is the macOS beta, and how stable is the iOS beta?

Sierra will be more stable than iOS. Beta 2 is, historically, the worst of all of them. I'd wait until beta 4 to run it.

Beta 1 and 2 both worked pretty well for me, I've had a few random resprings, that's about the extent of the bugs I saw. These beta's are very solid for such an early release.

I wish there were a public beta for WatchOS 3. The existing WatchOS 2 is worse than a beta anyway so anything would be an improvement.

I suspect they will wait to be sure it works. Remember - no way to restore the watch. Even if this only happened to a few thousand devices, that's a lot of out-of-warranty watch service. Honestly (and I am a paid enterprise developer, AND have Applecare+ on my way), I would recommend staying away for a few more weeks.
