You weren’t around in 2010 I take it.
I’ve been around here longer than you have, lol. At the time that one was still kinda sketchy and people were doubting it for a while. Only reason I was thinking today was a big deal was because there were crystal clear leaks involving multiple product lines. The rumors during the iPhone story were that there were also photos of an Apple Watch and some videos. The Apple Watch one came true so I also combined what we had seen with potential demo videos. I haven’t seen them yet so maybe they don’t exist, but that’s what I was basing my comment on. If that had been the case then it was almost like the keynote itself leaked, which would have been a pretty big deal.

How do they know it will be called XS? Also, I could see the actual name being 10S, and the X just being used because it was special, and the future of iPhone, so they changed it. Now that we are back in our timeline, maybe just go back to numbers.

Maybe 9to5 only know it will be called “ten s” because a source told them, but none of the marketing has leaked to say it’s definitely XS.

Well you should have sold earlier, I sold my 256 X with no apple care + 2 weeks ago for 870 so there is still good resale values. You just need to sell earlier.
Ok? I don't need/want to have to juggle transferring to another phone for a few months before I am able to upgrade.

You do you. If it's worth it to you that's perfectly fine. I'm not giving anyone a universal scenario. I'm saying what's works for me, and resale values after a new phone goes out doesn't work for me. Selling my phone before I have a replacement isn't something I consider an option either.

Even in your scenario you're out about $300. You're laying about $25 a month in phone depreciation. You seem to have justified that. Perfectly fine. I'd rather not. The way I see it it would cost me less to add a tablet to my lte arsenal.

My girlfriend still has her 6S in good physical shape. We just went to the Apple Store to get her battery replaced for free under the 'random shutdown affecting a small number of iPhones' of which the offer was good for 3 years from purchase, and next month would hit the 3 year mark. She waited basically last minute, but will now have a newer feeling phone. She's happy and has no urgency to upgrade.

Meanwhile, I sold my 6S last year to get the iPhone 8. It was $300 less than the iPhone X, I thought I'd miss Touch ID, and whatever other justifications I had. I planned to just keep it for 2-3+ years. Here we are a year later, and kicking myself for that. I do have OLED envy, just how much nicer and functional no bezel is, and wanting the dual camera system. If I still had the 6s, easy decision to upgrade this year. Now it's a much more difficult decision to eat the cost of an iPhone 8 one-year rental.
Yeah my moms phone (she lives with us after her heart attack) is a 6s. We had her battery swapped for free about a year ago. Her phone is still solid. Granted she's not a power user but she does do a ton of social media and video watching especially on car rides (she and my four year old are silent, it's great lol).

My wife upgraded to an 8 from a 7 only because she was having random issues of reboots and such with the 7 (for most of its life honestly) thiguh Apple ran diagnostics twice and didn't find anything. Otherwise she'd have kept the 7, more than likely.

in short, if you want to show off the "champagne gold" back of the iPhone XS, better get a clear case. The iPhone XS is likely compatible with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case, the one I use on my iPhone X.

Wow! How does this happen?! Either way, that gold stainless steel looks gorgeous. Count me in for a gold iPhone XS and Series 4.
Agreed. The gold looks stunning. I wonder what it'll look like in person though, whether its more yellow than copper? I'd much prefer a yellow gold.

Someone leak the unveiling videos please!!!

Gold looks good but doesn’t match any of my other devices and is too flashy for my taste.

What if the 6.1 and 6.5 are completely new versions (with home button?) and will look nothing like last years iPhone X, and the leak is the second generation "X" with the all new 2nd gen SE? And now they're calling it the iPhone XS?

Well we all know which model will sell out the fastest.. not only a gold model but a Plus model too? Yeah, good luck with that one on pre-order day. Hope you all have lightning fingers because oh boy...

'XS' = Excess. Which I would interpret as the phone will cost a lot more $$$$$

Ironically they will be cheaper then last year. Or at least that's what it have been rumored and I believe it.

Crazy leak.

Terrible name - iPhone XS. Supposed to be pronounced “ten ess” but will inevitably be pronounced “ecs ess” and eventually just sound like ‘excess’.

Maybe that’s what they want with that solid gold look?

Guys around here pay far to much attention to these "irrelevant" things.
Meanwhile, regular customers (probably 99%) focus on the device itself and don't give a toss about the name.

nah, extra small.

Yes, clicking a virtual connect button once a day is much more of a nuisance than untangling and carrying a cable with you everywhere you go - all the time you might want music.

You're exaggerating. However, garbage sound quality, limited battery life, limited range and having to remember to charge batteries for HEADPHONES is a real problem.

I don't know how some of you put up with all of that.

you realize it's TEN right? X means 10. It's the iPhone 10s. Just like the 6s, 5s and 4s before it.

Noooooobody calls it the “ten” lmao.

I’m glad if they are calling both of them the XS, rather than using the “plus” for the larger one, which almost implies the standard XS is some midrange product, when the reality is the people who go for the 5.8 just don’t want to carry some huge brick around which won’t fit in your pockets
