The current watches require separate band sizes for 38mm and 42mm

How so? When you bought a watch band you had to select the size.

I stay corrected. Watches are measured bu wrist size and not display. Was thinking of Appe only changing the display size. I have around 7 Apple watch bands and hope they won't become useless. Will find out in 5 hours time.

I'm sure the conference is centered around the Watch...but I would really like to hear about the iMac and iPad Pro models being refreshed and hopefully both available before Halloween.

The iPad and Mac refreshes are coming in the October event, which is late October and it would be very surprising if they make them available right after or before Halloween.

unfortunately there's no indications that new iPads or Macs will be discussed today.

In all likelihood, this event is for iOS, so we'll see the iPhone, watch and probably iPad. The Macs will will not make an appearance, imo.

I have 10 bands for the 42mm, and it fits perfectly. If the new watch is 44mm its going to overlap my wrist :|
