This deflated my excitement a little bit. I have small wrists and the 38mm already looks chunky. Hopefully this means they are somewhat thinner.
This is a problem for me, too. It’s is one of the reasons I don’t fully switch over to Android, which I also like. Android wearables look like I strapped a hockey puck to my wrist.

However, I think I’ll barely squeeze by with the series 4. My guess is that they did make it thinner but had to expand somewhere to accommodate the required battery size.

why not? these are the heights

Indeed - I know Apple like to hack people off at times (headphone jack removal, etc.) but they know that not making existing bands compatible will be a barrier to some people upgrading to the 4 - especially if they've invested in a large and expensive collection of bands.

So I'm pretty convinced that the negligible width increase in the new Watch casings won't result in our existing bands not being compatible...

I'd be really sad if the older bands are not compatible.

I'm not sure how people expect they CAN be compatible, unless they bevel the top and bottom of the case which won't happen.

Plus, bands are Apple's new dongles. Too many non-apple bands currently on the market, lets make them not compatible.

The iPad and Mac refreshes are coming in the October event, which is late October and it would be very surprising if they make them available right after or before Halloween.

Can you elaborate on the October event? I have not seen any discussions/announcements of said event.

Thanks!

you will have SS in space grey, silver and new gold

maybe you meant no ceramic?

they are aluminium colours, note the word aluminium next to each of them. they are not varieties of SS watch.

Compatibility is dependent on width of case. The measurements leaked here are height, with no confirmation that width is changed. Hopefully that points you in the right direction.

Have some common sense o_O

Why on earth would there not be a 44mm version of the more premium option. Genuinely shocking that someone could draw such a conclusion.

Based on the leaked XML list. No SS.

Well, for the past years they've almost always made a late October event for Macs and iPads and if they did release all of them on today's event, everything will get too saturated and they won't actually have time for all of the products. The main topics today are Apple Watch and iPhones (not to mention iOS 12 too).

We've already seen some iPad leaks and it's normal to not hear anything about the upcoming Macs lineup, but I'm sure we will do pretty sure.

Totally agree, not really that excited about the iPhone anymore, I know its a long way off but can't wait for the glasses to become a reality as well.

Pleased that midnight blue is making a return, especially as there's some uncertainty now that the previous bands may not fit the new case sizes. Personally I'm guessing old ones will fit, but still, just throwing out a pointless guess.

Also pleased about the new case sizes.

There was me always thinking 38 too small and 42 too big for my tiny wrist. 40 might hit the sweet spot.

If this affects band sizes, I'm going to be super annoyed. And never buying expensive AW bands anymore, nor the more expensive casings

I stay corrected. Watches are measured bu wrist size and not display. Was thinking of Appe only changing the display size. I have around 7 Apple watch bands and hope they won't become useless. Will find out in 5 hours time.
Nope, you are right - they are measured by height. The 42mm AW is 35.9mmX42mm. The question is whether they made it only 2mm taller or if they also increased the width by a smidge.

If you look at that image closely, you'll notice that the width is the same. Since the watch band are reusable, that sets the limits of the watch. The current apple watch width is exactly the same as the band connection width. That increase in watch size is purely in the length, which probably isn't a bad thing.

What are the odds we will simply see a larger screen in the same watch size? Meaning older bands remain compatible. Else, I see youtubers like iJustine crying (have you seen her watch band collection?!?).

And wasn't there an earlier leak that said the resolution and aspect ratio would be different?

So this may be true: taller in length, but same width.

Only a few hours to go... :p

Ok, thanks! I do recall the events but I thought there was a single event in the Fall. I'm hoping they don't drag their feet on the iMac refresh...I'm looking to buy a 27" with (hopefully) a newer and the fastest i7 chip (that Apple offers) but need the machine before Thanksgiving. If I see some great $400-$600 iMac 2017 discounts I might just go with the older model.

Thanks again.

I love this site. it's my Home page and I visit multiple times a day.. but sometimes I feel like the surprise factor of an announcement is taken away, like this post.
I know that is what we are here for but knowing almost everything 3 hours before the announcement... well...

Common sense is no longer common anymore, sad times we live in...

Until I see a 44mm SS model listed on an apple product page, i’m operating under the assumption that leaked list is complete. If that makes me dumb and I should kill myself, well....so be it.
