But there were no url leaks for iPad. Makes me think Apple might have another event in October for iPad and Mac.
I'm just guessing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It could very well be iPhone/Apple Watch only

The 38 and 42 mm case sizes given were the height of the watch, not the width. So the new sizes should also be the height of 40 and 44 mm. with the same in width as previous watches. making all bands compatible.

So will be 38 mm bands work on 38 and 40 mm watches and 42 mm bands will work on 42 and 44 mm watches.

I'm sure it will all work out.

Until I see a 44mm SS model listed on an apple product page, i’m operating under the assumption that leaked list is complete. If that makes me dumb and I should kill myself, well....so be it.

You're operating under the assumption that a list that visibly extends beyond what is shown in the screenshot is complete?

Arg, 42 was the perfect size for me. Forcing me to go smaller or larger is going to be frustrating either way.

Yeah I was hovering on getting the 38 but the 42 is ok now. 44 might be just that little bit too much.

Seems odd to make it bigger - not worth it just for screen size, so I hope they have good data to back up the change, or are putting extra goodness inside.

I hope you arent serious.
The watch is the same the edging of the glass is just pushed out further.

They wouldn't make all watch bands obsolete over the last 4 years...
This article says the case of the watch is 2mm bigger for each size. It’s not the same dimension as the old watch, at least in the vertical dimension. So it’s either longer than the old Apple Watch, or it’s bigger in both demensions (which I assume means old bands won’t work). Hopefully it’s just longer.

im sure we'll all be fine. it just wont happen they wont work. 100% chance all bands will fit

2mm really doesn't seem like all that much bigger than my 42mm series 3 edition the new features are going to have to knock it out of the park for me to upgrade just have to see it after it's been released .

I was down to get the 42mm but I’m concerned that the 44mm might be too big, and I’ll be forced to get the smaller 40mm one.

:(

The physical case will likely not change - it is the screen size that is larger. As such, you should still be fine purchasing a 44mm as the physical case is the same size as the 42mm.

Looks like the case has increased radii so current bands work.

They might not work. Apple is selling 40mm and 44mm watch bands in addition to 38mm and 42mm ones.

I believe the latest leaks suggest that the physical case will be getting larger by 2mm for both models.

When the 6S came out, physical apple stores near me still sold the iphone 6 cases alongside the 6S ones without repackaging them. Apple isn't going to be in a hurry to recall all of it's 38mm bands and stick a 40mm label on them to make them into a new SKU.

I am not sure where the speculation comes that the 38mm and 42mm refer to the casing, but on Apple's own comparison page it refers to the displays sizes as 38mm and 42mm. https://www.apple.com/watch/compare/

So my assumption would be that the casing remains the same, the reduced bezels allow for the additional 2mm.

I stand corrected, per a previous post. And, yes, I'm an idiot, and should put a gun in a my mouth, pull the trigger, and commit suicide. I profusely apologize to everyone in the MR forums for ever being born.

You are better than me, and I'm a loser, and don't deserve to live. You win.

There really are a lot of sanctimonious asshats on this site. I'm glad you guys are so hyper-fing-perfect and never make mistakes. You're really lucky, I guess! Jesus h christ.

I'm hoping you're right. It'd suck if my watch band collection is suddenly incompatible with the new Apple Watches.
