I managed to get rid of the mouldy look by using very fine sandpaper on the case, followed by car leather conditioner. Case now has a suede feel which I really like. Only negative is that the Apple logo is almost invisible now, but I can live with that.

so my saddle brown shown on the #2 reply has served me well. everyday use from that day on. Just today i put on a brand new Charcoal Gray which was my second choice when i originally wanted a leather case. the saddle brown is now very dark brown - almost black when you look at it. the charcoal gray is also very dark but looks nice in the light.

Nice.

What does the saddle brown look like now then?

This thread made me buy a saddle brown.

Your saddle brown in post 2 definitely has the most even patina I’ve ever seen -looks great! Did you just make sure to expose all sides of it to your hands, table, etc?

nope. never thought about it. just used it normally.

i forgot how slick these cases are new out of the box. the saddle brown had a good grip on it after a while. now a new charcoal gray and i have to really grab it to make sure I don't drop it.

Current saddle brown situation, about 9 or 10 months old by now. It has dents and scratches and marks, but thats what it's a case for. Compare the color of the button and the leather in the last pic with a new one. It has really darkened. I don't use any oils or products on the case.

edit: here you go, the old situation:
Edit: better photo's. First photo's made it all look real dark brown, while in real life it's much more a dark tan color:

All,

I'm curious to see the patina on those Apple Leather cases. This one is my Pink Fuchsia - 3 weeks of use. Let's see yours!

Here’s the patina on my taupe one. Got it for christmas! It’s now August so about 8 months of wear. With flash and without. Just got a new midnight blue one today

It does, but (see my post) it will get much darker. I would have loved the saddle brown even more if it stayed the tan color it had 6 months ago, but alas.

I saw that, that’s way too dark! Almost black from use. I would have to change the case at that point.

This is exactly what mine looked like before I tried to clean it etc.

Hello friends.

I have an issue occurred on my midnight blue leather case. I recently went on a vacation by the sea and some of the salt from the water affected the leather on certain areas. I can literally see the salt. What should i do? Should I try wiping it off with a non-alcohol wet wipe? If so should I use some leather conditioner after that?

I had been between the Apple Leather and the Nomad cases for a while. I stumbled upon this forum and after seeing the pictures of how good it looks and people saying they have had no issues with protection from the case I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Picked up a saddle brown. Let's see how this goes.

Here is my Saddle Brown iPhone X after exactly 1 month. Comes out evenly so far. Only thing I find annoying is that it scratches so easily, especially with fingernails. I usually run out the scratches with a cloth. I use a Weiman leather cleaner/conditioner wipe every week

I find mine gets little pit marks and indents. Annoying but part of the process I suppose. I am guessing this is normal?

I bought the original case from  but I didn't liked it. The original case of  looked too artificial to me and therefore I treated the case with sandpaper and then natural waxes. Now she has a nice patina, looks used and finally feels like leather!

I normally don't prefer the look of "doctored" leather cases but that looks great.

Here's Midnight Blue after nine months and three weeks. The shot of the inside is really the only indicator that it's blue anymore.
