Same here. I gave 3 bars but data won’t work. It’s like it’s clogged up and can’t move. Progress bar stays stuck at 20 percent mark in safari. iPhone 7 on same AT&T network, same location has no problem. iPhone XS cellular is terrible.
How many phones are impacted? Oh that’s right, you don’t know.Don't worry that $1500+ you forked out for your phone will still make it a nice paperweight.
Anyone having connectivity ( LTE ) issues with TMobile ? Occasionally, opening a webpage or even logging into an App takes a while, or just hangs.
Also, on WiFi, while the speedtest shows downstream/upstream speeds very similar to other devices, sometimes webpages take forever to open.
I will be calling Apple about this, just wondering if any other TMobile users are facing a similar issue.
Hi I’m new here, I’ve been lurking since purchasing my first iPhone X’s max on Tmobile network. Like most of you I had lte issues, I tried everything from airplane mode to network reset. I even got a new SIM card but nothing helped, I ended up returning the phone to Tmobile due to the 14 day policy. Last night I visited apple an decided to try my luck so I repurchased the device, this time I got the sim unlock one. I’m seeing a day and night different with connectivity. At home I was only getting one bar of lte, with the new device I’m getting 3 bars. I definitely think it’s a hardware issue because I’m on the same firmware/ modem as the one I returned.
That happens with lots of phones. Network conditions can vary.I just had this happen to me; was stuck on "4G" for a long time until the phone spontaneously decided to find LTE again.

Have you checked your signal strength (numeric value) ?
Open phone app
Goto the keypad and enter *3001#12345#*
Press the green dial (phone) button
From the Main Menu that opens up, press LTE, press ‘Serving Cell Meas’ and the negative value against ‘rsrp0’ is your numeric signal strength
The range for this is -50 to -120, iirc
The lower the number, the better your signal strength.. So, -105 is bad while -70 is excellent
Mine hovers between -105 to -116 inside the house...that’s pretty bad
However, it’s the same on my Note 9 (using the LTE Discovery app)..and here’s the kicker.. even with such low signal strength the Note 9 pulls way...way ahead of the XS in speedtest and practical usage ( web browsing, logging into apps like Chase, AMEX etc..) on LTE for me
WiFi speeds are very similar on both devices, per speedtest, but the Note 9 renders faster on WiFi as well!
Very interesting..did you run a speedtest with the previous device (lte only, wifi off) inside your home so you can compare with the new one ? Bars really dont tell the whole story..
I assume you meant higher and not lower?Mine inside is -101 right now, but I'll check again on the street later.
For those that are on 12.1 beta x, how is the reception? (Since that has a modem baseband update)
So if this is hardware related, then what happens?
I'm pretty sure I'm going to just get the iPhone Xr. Hopefully next year Apple can workout the antenna issues.
I'm going based on FCC documents also.Wonder if it is the Intel modem that has the problem...and if so will the XR be any better ?

Did they do that with the iPhone 4? Or was the death grip something else entirely? I didn't jump into the iPhone pool till the 5 so I don't really remember what happened with that whole deal.Well I would think Apple will issue a recall and exchange everyone’s defective device or return for a refund.
