G5 Powerbooks joke equals pathetic.. quit it.

About the horrific MacBook deal.. SOOOOOOOOOO PISSSSSSSEDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!! Honestly!?

Its going to be pretty dumb if they can't make a consumer laptop under $1,000. With so many intel chips to choose from I would be shocked if they only put the most expensive ones in there. It's not like they are going to be faster than the Macbook Pros anyway.
If adding a camera keeps them from having a sub $1,000 laptop then they need to take the thing out. Now, if it cost more because they put a decent graphics card that wont be put to shame by similarly priced PC laptops when playing games now we have a good reason. Only less than a month to find out I guess.

Wow

I can't put my finger on it, but something has me thinking there's a LOT of pent-up demand for an Intel iBook/MacBook :)

And I'm certain Apple will take advantage of this by keeping the price high enough that they don't sell faster than they can be made. In other words expect the sub-kilobuck notebooks to sell for $1,200 at least at first. Later they will offer a $950 iBook but not at first.

Wait.. Whhahahaa..????? You can EMAIL Steve Jobs???

Does he respond??????

You can e-mail a Steve Jobs address, but there's no telling if it actually gets through all eight levels of screeners. And even if he does read it, the reply will come from someone else.

So the answer would be no.

sooo curious!

I won't be in the market for a new ibook (or whatever the H they call it, i frankly do not give a poo) until at least the applecare runs our on my old one (jan). I just got the HD replaced, so it should be good for a while yet. BUt im not going to screw myself by putting tiger on an 800mhz 'book, so im probably going to have to upgrade when leopard comes out so as to not be 2 OS's behind the times. i already feel left out :( anywho....

BUT im freaking curious as all heck to see what actually comes out! there are so many rumors flying about. I MUST KNOW THE TRUTH!!
im not one to care overly about graphics, but i do care about form factor, price, the camera, cpu speeds....so much up in the air!

and i want a black one:)

Slightly higher price point? Meh!

Seriously, there better be a $999 model. That looks good to a lot of people in the market for a Mac laptop.

I wonder if I could limit myself to checking these rumor sites once a day at maximum? It'll be like giving up smoking. Need willpower, and a MacBook.

They should sell them as cheap as possible as soon as possible, even delay launch if that's what it takes to meet expected demand. If Apple are serious about attracting switchers, they have to.

I mean, frustrated young PC dude (he's sick & tired of Vista delays, viruses, crashes, etc.) walks into Apple store after hearing good things about Apple computers, knowing now he can run Windows on them. He wants something comparable to an average PC laptop in price. He sees a high price on Macbook/iBook & he'll swallow all his frustrations, walk out & head for the nearest PC store. Who'd blame him?

I really want to get one soon, so I hope they come out tomorrow. Plus, I am curious to see if they come in colors and if so, which colors?

I agree, they could use an old Pentium M/Celeron M (still a decent chip, they're related to Yonah not to Netburst) and leave out the camera/remote/whatever, to come under that important $1000 mark. It would be a perfectly good machine, and would avoid the high starting prices of Core Solo.

But the other way they could come under $1000 is NOT to go that low in specs, but simply to wait for Core to get cheaper. Which it will, so I think Apple will choose the latter method. That means temporarily there may be nothing sub-$1000, but then that will change in the Fall or sometime. Just my guess.

Apple has some skeletons in its design closet, for sure!
That's not an actual Apple design, it's a joke. And IMO, the lone "A" button is pure gold :D
