You know what I think's going to happen. I think that every week one source will say that they will come out the next week. This will go on until the macbooks come out. Simple as that. The speculation will never stop. The article next week will read "Thinksecret reports that macbooks will not come out until the 23 of May". But hey, that's just my two cents.

I'm staying positive. One more week to get a good price for my iBook if its true! Then I can get one of these whenever they come!

why do you guys keep talking about e3? unless i missed something, e3 is for the video game industry, and last i heard, apple isn't attending. it seems almost as likely that apple would show up at my colleges' graduation and announce immediate availability of the powermac g6.

I think that student union promo was to get rid of the ipod minis.. not saying there won't be a promo, but I don't know if I would expect a free ipod.
Nah they had a similar promo the year before, buy a mac and get 200 off of an ipod...compared with 179 last year!

The only reason E3 is a factor is because there are tons of announcements, and the tech press is already saturated.

Apple wants this release to get attention, doing it in the middle of E3 (especially when the machine won't be a standout for gaming) would just cause them to get lost in the shuffle. A week that has less going on would be a much better choice.

Meanwhile, the most recent updates to the MacBook rumor claims it will come in Black and White configurations, a slightly higher price point and a thinner form factor than current iBooks.

I think this will go over well (if it's true). Unless this is referring to some sort of monstrosity zebra-Macbook, in which case the introduction of black would be a horrendous idea. The first laptop to induce epilepsy by viewing the case...a sort of yellow sign of computers. :D *shudders*

The most important thing isn't whether it comes out tomorrow, next week or a bit later. We know it's out very soon. Most important thing is that it's a good product (no combo drive, etc.) & it's readily affordable to non-power-user switchers & iBook replacers (MacBook Pro too expensive for most users).

With laptops flying off the shelves everywhere & outselling desktops, if Apple gets this right it'll expand its user-base no end. Cock it up & all the ads in the world won't entice potential switchers. The importance of this Macbook/iBook computer can't be underestimated. As far as reaching a large new customer-base goes, I'm convinced this could be the MOST important launch for Apple in years! Even more so than intel iMac or Macbook Pro. Hope it rocks.

May, 19

He guys,

I'm new to the Apple world and I'm waiting for a MacBook.
But I really see Steve presenting the MacBook at the opening of Apple's new store in NYC. Also known as the Big Apple!!!

Lately Appleinsider hasn't been able to tell the difference between intestinal gas and a foot up their ass. They need "sources" to tell them the MacBook hasn't been released earlier in the year. I mean come on now. They've been coming off as just a little deedeedee wouldn't you say?

They're referring to this:

http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0605briefly2.html

...which says near the end:

"While hardware release dates are often subject to last-minute change, sources' reports of an announcement Tuesday suggest that the long-awaited 13.3-inch widescreen MacBook is finally ready to ship. The release was first slated for January, then March, then April or May."

They're you-know-what-ing on the competition.

now there is only one thing left to do, i send an email to steve (steve.jobs@apple.com) and tell him that he has to release the macbook with a core 2 @ 3.33 GHz, radeon 1800 (256MB), 250GB HD, dual link dvi, Ax2, and 4GB ram immediately

edit: i just went crazy, even if i knew all this was possible to happen, i still hoped that the macbook gets introduced tomorrow

Actually, I would just be happy if Apple included an ExpressCard 34 slot in the MB so that I could put a semi-permanent modem on it without carrying around a dongle.

So the crowds wanna know...do we have PowerBooks G5 TOMORROW or NOT?

The PowerBook G5 joke got old a long, long time ago.

I can't put my finger on it, but something has me thinking there's a LOT of pent-up demand for an Intel iBook/MacBook :)

Watch: when it does come, people will howl about how it's not a revolution because it doesn't do more than the MacBook Pro. And about how it's thinner but still in Apple's minimalist style, instead of some hypothetical "awesome NEW style." And about how the specs (especially speed) are massively boosted, yet some particular spec is not, making the new machines magically "worse" than the old. And about the price, of course, despite being an obvious better value than the old.

The aforementioned howling will be accompanied by numerous negative votes, lots of threats to switch to Windows where the laptops DO offer time travel and eternal youth, and many of these:

All of the above will be accompanied by unprecedented massive sales, happy owners, and good reviews.

This isn't my first Apple product intro :)
