CONFIRMED: I cancelled my old reservation and the Plus models available showed up as in stock. I had to change the store and time for my reservation, but I was able to get the model I initially wanted for a Friday pick up.

Thanks to MacRumors forums, yet again!

I did this as well. I had a Gold 7+ 128GB reserved. I canceled my reservation and was able to reserve a Black 7+ 128GB. Kind of nerve-racking canceling my reservation...but I'm glad it worked out!

I cannot get myself to cancel my reservation. I don't wanna take the risk. All I wanna do is switch the model I have reserved from silver to black. So I'll just hope they can do it in person when I go.

Cancelled my 128GB 7+ Gold and went to reserve a new one, and only Rose Gold and Silver in 256 (or 32) were available. Beware.

This. While I was able to find the model I wanted, there were a lot that were unavailable. It's a risk, for sure.

Yikes here goes nothing.

Sounds like those who just want to show up on Friday to their local Apple store will be out of luck. Cause Apple will be allocating most of their stock to existing Apple upgrade customers.

In the Apple store app in the account section you should see "my reservations" go into the "see details" for the reservation you want to cancel and at the bottom you will see "cancel reservation"

Thank you...

I have a backup reservation now for a 7. If I go check stock it only shows 7s available in all apple stores in my area (I'm in NJ). Are we saying that if I cancel the reservation, that is will now also show 7 plus avail?

Yes, but there is no guarantee that what you want is in stock. You can only see the additional stock if you don't currently have a reservation. I did this all last night before it went super public so I don't know what things look like today. I'm guessing it would be rather easy to reserve another 7 though if it fails...

Also FYI I have a 7+ reserved right now. When I go to the site I see only 7s available. So I don't believe that cancelling my existing reservation will magically make 7+'s available.

So I just tried it and it worked! Actually I had 2 backup reservations. A regular 7 at 2 different stores. I cancelled 1 of the reservations, went and checked stock and now was able to get what I wanted: 7plus black 128gb ATT.

Thank you macrumors community!

Clearly some disconnect in the software. I did the same, I had a Gold 7+ 128GB reserved. I REALLY want a Jet Black, but I was able to cancel my reservation and reserved a regular Black 7+ 128GB. Still hoping the IUP program will present a Jet Black one for me.

It doesn't matter what model you have reserved, if you have a reservation at all you can't see the additional stock. With that being said, there's still no guarantee that what you're looking for is in stock, but if you cancel the reservation you will see everything available and once you make a new reservation the extra stock will once again disappear. I thought I was being trolled last night when someone told me i need to cancel my reservation. But it worked for me.

Are these phones set aside specifically for annual upgrade program users?

Are people not in the program still able to reserve for the first day? Doesn't affect me Aby longer just curious

Problem for me isn't color choice on the 7+, it's that there is no 256gb models available for pickup in any Dallas area store.

At the moment they are only appearing for current IUP members who don't have an upgrade reservation... some are speculating that this is the stock being sent to stores for walk ins on release day... no one really knows though, it just magically appeared and you have to risk canceling any existing reservations to see whats really available.

Couldn't find any information regarding this, but if I reserved a Verizon iPhone via the IUP, would I be able to use it with T-Mobile?

I am a current member, and have an existing reservation, but for my second choice device. So I was checking to see if they got any of my first choice in.
unfortunately you have to cancel an existing reservation in order to see the new stock. sounds scary I know, and there's still no guarantee you'll get what you're looking for. Worked for me last night. If your backup is common you can always re-reserve it.

I was not too concerned or upset, because I just felt it would work out. Now reading everyone's success in their area with the new stock and them sending me 3 emails today with signs of hope, I am starting to get upset with Apple. There was no change in the stock in my area. I just want a 256 or 128 Plus with in some sort of black finish.

If anyone wants to check my stores with a upgrade that you know exposes new stock in your area, feel free to report back. Tennessee - Cool Springs or Green Hills store. Verizon.

Why would I have to cancel to see new stock? I'm able to access the portal by putting in my serial number and last 4 of my IMEI. I get the pop-up saying congratulations you are eligible and then it takes me to the website where I select state, store, model, color.

Called the number when they first made that changed and they said they would contact me within 72 hours... been over 48 still not heard anything back. I got an email saying they added more reservations and to check my local store... No changes in WI, 7+ still not available, and I have 2 stores within a 10 minute drive from each other. I did not see an option to fill out a form if I am still not able to reserve a phone with my iPhone Upgrade Program.
