"Jet" white is not a color!!!
Jet Black is so named, because the color of jet (a hard, dense coal) is black.
You just think you know everything....don't you? Well did you know that the sun is hot to the touch? Huh? Didn't think so.

And 8 is a very lucky number in parts of Asia, I hear. A gold 8 iPhone? A doubly lucky phone! Think it will improve sales?but but but it's suppose to be the iPhone 8 for the tenth anniversary.
There can only ever be one company that provides more colour choice than any other company.Glad apple is the only company that provides more color choice than any other company (nice looking color)

But how about white glass? Remember when Apple had huge troubles figuring how to make a proper white glass display bezel? They solved it, and with the next phone rumored to be all glass...There is no such thing as white anodizing, so to create a white iPhone 7, one of two things has to happen:
Given that the white Apple Watch is a premium-priced product, I can't see option 2 happening, and option 1 is a bit of a crap-shoot.
- The body will remain aluminum, but will have some other kind of durable coating, perhaps a ceramic glaze or paint; or
- The body will no longer be aluminum, but will be solid ceramic, like the white Apple Watch Edition.
Having seen the polished and matte black side-by-side, I cannot understand why anyone would want the glossy one. It's a magnet for greasy fingerprints and scratches. The matte looks way more "stealth".
I didn’t say they were the only ones and usually you get vilified on here for car comparisons. Also, look here…….Have you looked at the official colors of cars?
You can get the 2017 Accord in Crystal Black, or Orchid White.
Or you can get the BMW 5 Series in "JET BLACK".
You can get the Prius in "moonglow" or "sun fusion" or my favorite "Tangerine Splash Pearl".
Calm down, jeez. Also I must apologise that the forum police have mandated that you must clearly indicate when sarcsam is used. /sOh, I'm sorry.... am I speaking with the one netizen unaware of how Poe's Law works??!
Unless you know that guy personally or closely follow his post history, you (like everyone else) have ZERO idea of whether or not his straightforward statement is actually sarcasm.
That is why we have smileys, the term "jk", & the /sarcasm tag.
You always have to be extra careful when you call other people ignorant. The dictionary definitions make it clear that the most common use is to indicate an intense black, not the gemstone use
They better not . That wouldn't be fair bc I would like to have that color
Don't mistake factual with with negativity. New iphone colors are ALWAYS out of stock because they are in high demand. Do you remember when the Gold color was first introduced? It was out of stock for months. Do you remember the Rose Gold color? It was also out of stock for months. Have you read how hard it has been to get a Jet Black iphone? The Jet white will be the same....not negative...but factual.Wow. Doesn't that constant negative view on everything in life get tiresome? It's never too late to change your outlook; you'll be amazed how much better it feels to have a positive take on most things.
This!! They launched about 60 days ago and still do not have a single 7+ in stock here in Arizona at least ar any of the Apple stores and if you want to order it online it's anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks, unreal.
ya well this is america, the term jet in america means really really fast. maybe you think my face is jet black ?
I am extra careful. And I'm right. The origin of the term jet black does indeed stem from the gemstone jet. I have a degree in Art & Design, so you may want to try again.
Jet White. I reckon Apple has a whole department for coming up with lame names.
The point was whether people were "ignorant" as you called them for using "jet" to mean intense, as in "jet black" "jet blue" and yes "jet white." No one disputes and it doesn't matter where it originated from, it's how it is used in common parlance. You were calling people ignorant when their use of "jet" as meaning "intense" is used vastly more than your obscure reference to some gemstone that few have ever heard of.
