How does profit equals quality? I mean monster cable charged thousands of dollars for HDMI cable, was that HDMI cable a testament of super quality cable?

I never understood the logic behind the reasoning that Apple makes the most profit that means Apple's stuff must be good.

They could build a smaller version of the Pencil that slots into the iPhone Plus like the Galaxy Note.

All the talk is Apple doing away with headphone jack and you're suggesting they replace the headphone jack with a Pencil slot ... that's hilarious. I guess the Apple fanboys would accept that cause Apple would make the slot better / nicer than Samsung has, huh?

Sounds like the usual ******** to try and push the stocks of the OLED manufacturers up.

Good job Apple, welcome to where Samsung was at several years ago. Maybe you could even go beyond the pathetic 16GB base model some time in the 2020's. But then again, why leave 2011 when you don't have to?

Yeah, they are gonna roll out **** pen tile phones with inefficient operating systems. Get away ye troll

Iris scanning doesn't work when the lights are off (if we're talking about using the front facing camera), and I would hardly consider blinding someone with the "front facing flash" a convenient approach to unlocking your phone ;)
[doublepost=1459125856][/doublepost]

I think these rumors are all talking about what would be considered the iPhone 8.

Near infra red can be used as a light source with no bright flash needed. But, as indicated in my post, I can't see them scrapping Touch ID and moving to something else.

Would be very surprised to see Apple go back to glass on both sides again. But having the choice of metals - like Apple Watch - that would be sweet.

Infrared light. My Surface Pro 4 has an IR front facing camera that works great for Skype as a "regular" camera, but can also unlock the device by facial recognition in total darkness. No flash. It's the most Apple-ish thing I've seen on a MS product... Mainly because it is damn magical, and it works instantaneously 95% of the time. I'd say TouchID works first time on my iphone6 about 80% of the time.

It's truly like that feeling you got the first time you used TouchID, only TouchID truly does get worse over time... Mostly because the lens always gets dirty, or maybe the sapphire once had an oleophobic coating on it that has worn away.

All that said... It seems FAR less useful on a phone, as I often unlock my phone far away from my face, with the camera pointed toward the sky. You do t typically stare at a small screen dead on.

Personal - Private data. Whatever that may be is up to the user. Who the hell are you to judge what personal private information can be stored on a smartphone vs a computer vs on paper? Digital information kept is better than paper version without all the hassles of securing paper copies. IN case of fire, theft, etc., digitally kept information is better. Not everyone shoots selfies and even if you do that is your own private data to keep.

You seem mad android isn't safe at all. Which is a fact but of course the grass can't be greener on iOS side when you compare to android. Android - more features (without one single thought about the repercussions of having such an open access features). You are free to store all your info on android all you like. I will never trust android platform, period.
[doublepost=1459122953][/doublepost]

Google nexus devices are known to have first dibs on security updates, OS updates, all that good stuff. The problem I have with google nexus devices in general is the hardware - especially from that China state-owned company called Huawei. That and ZTE.

Samsung hardware is just superior but of course we all know how bad touchwiz bloat is. But without Samsung software features you don't get all that cool stuff to play with. Just compare the camera of a Samsung device vs Google nexus. The latter is beyond bad.

There are good and bad with each OS - but iOS in general is much more stable, timely security updates released, and basically a good platform if you want sandboxed security. Of course power users and tinkerers love any platform that allows them to do anything they want hence why android is so popular. I have both and I just prefer to trust my data with Apple's iOS more so than any android OS, period.
I will never own a Huawei device for the exact reason you mentioned. I own a 2014 Nexus 6 made by Motorola and will have to see if HTC will be manufacturing the 2016 version as some rumors are suggesting, before making a new purchase. I guess in terms of security it comes down to personal preference. Google has been pushing monthly security updates since summer. This has been a welcome perk since the Stagefright virus made its rounds. In terms of risking perdonal security, the most sensitive thing I handle on Android is email and personal banking through the Bank of America app. I obviously monitor these regularly, so I'm not concerned.

You couldn't be more right about the cameras. Samsung blows all other Android competition away. The Motorola Nexus 6 camera is a complete joke and it's not even close.

For all the expert opinions I've read so far....

I have a 16GB iPhone 5 (not 5s) and have been using it for a few years. It's fine. I still have 6GB of free space available (unused).

Sure, it would be "nice" to have a 32GB phone to store more crap, but it's hardly necessary. Anyone shooting 4K video on a freaking phone (on the new models) is kinda clueless anyway. Phones with more than 16GB of storage are for people who have hoarding problems or are youngsters that grew up in the terabyte era.

Does anyone here remember when a 2GB HD was the max size available for several years?

A 4GB drive was deemed "Pro".

12-megapixel photos from the iPhone 6S take up more space than those from the 8-megapixel iPhone 5. So your opinion is valid for old iphones, not new ones.

I also remember when floppy disks were thought to have a generous amount of data. Times change.

Sounds to me like you dont really need a smart phone, more likely an old feature phone would suit better. If you're going to pay hundreds of dollars on a phone you need to do more than just use it to make calls and texts.

Are you saying the only reason to have a smart phone is to take lots of pictures and 4K video? It seems to me you are the one who needs an old feature phone. And a nice camera.

So because someone shoots 4K with their phone and you don't they are clueless? And because 16GB is enough for you it is enough for everyone? I think you misdirected the term clueless.

You have an 8mp camera. iPhone 6s has a 12mp, 50% more pixels. If you take any decent amount of photos, your storage is quickly eaten up.

Anyone shooting 4K video on a freaking phone (on the new models) is kinda clueless anyway. Phones with more than 16GB of storage are for people who have hoarding problems or are youngsters that grew up in the terabyte era.
We shoot high quality spots for TV and web, we use iPhones for second or third cameras, or tight spaces. So I guess when we have a client that needs a 4k video to showcase their product, we should just tell them they are clueless?

I remember when 500MB HDs & SyQuest 44s were "Pro," what's your point?

I remember my first hard drive. 55 megabytes. I remember backing it up to floppies. "Please remove the disk from the drive and insert a new, unformatted disk. Label the removed disk 'Disk 7 of 32'."

No, I'm saying if you've got a 16gb phone and you've got 6gb left after using it for a couple of years, you're not using it like a smart phone youre using it like a cheap feature phone.

No doubt they are upset.
I'm pretty sure they've been upset since Sammy started making phones larger than 3.5 inches.

You beat me, mine was only 50mbs.

So basically Apple is making a Samsung Note 5 Edge. And Calling it the iPhone Pro.
In that case I already Own an iPhone Pro its just called a Note 5 Lets see.

#1. 4GB DDR4 RAM
#2. Fast Charging
#3. 8 Core CPU at 2.3Ghz
#4. 1440p 5.7 inch OLED Display
#5. Thinner and lighter and physically smaller than the iPhone 6s Plus (samsung uses thinner bezels)
#6. Stylus for Hand writting note taking drawing
#7. Camera and LED are heart Rate Sensor
#8. aptX for HD Bluetooth Audio
#9. Wireless charging
#10. Multitasking 2 apps open at once

I humbly present the iPhone Pro go buy one today. Mind you if Apple had created these features theyd want a Nobel Prize.

Wait, so basically you're telling me the budget iPhone SE now beats the crap out of an octa-core phabletship?

Geekbench 3.3
iPhone SE = 2538 single-core · 4421 multi-core (2 @ 1.85 GHz)
Note 5 = 1467 single-core · 4787 multi-core (8 @ 2.3 GHz)
iPhone 5s = 1394 single-core · 2510 multi-core (2 @ 1.3 GHz)

Incredible! No wonder Apple kept the 5s around since September 2013. Even running at 1.300 MHz it's still super competitive in single-core speed.

This post was written on an:
iPad Air 2 = 1809 single-core · 4527 multi-core (3 @ 1.5 GHz)

A totaly black iPhone with a seamless OLED screen? Please, take my money! Cant wait to see a moving wallpaper on a device like that!

Edit:
I couldn't resist to make a quick mock-up about my idea of a totaly black OLED iPhone. Would love to see it blacker than black.

iPhone_OLED_thumb2.jpg

Edit 2: Attempt #2
iPhone_OLED_thumb3.jpg
^THIS...This is SO FRIGGIN SEXY. I have really loved the black design since the 6 was introduced and they curved the glass around (prior to that, I was all about the white/silver designs with both the 4 and 5 design) Apple...give us this and I give you a blank check...put any number on it. An OLED display with perfect blacks indistinguishable from the coverglass/faceplate. NEED IT. Great mock-up.

I would agree with you if I was an Apple shareholder or from what the market is telling Apple -- purely based on the fact that 16Gb phones are a reason to upsell consumers to larger capacity phones with high profit margins. As a fan of the Apple brand and based on personal anecdotal experience, including B4U, however, 16 Gb is no longer "enough" storage for a premium phone, but it's close enough to "enough" that some people will continue to buy 16Gb phones and they'll hate them. Resent them. Regret their decision. I say take a risk, and open the floodgates to 32, 64, 128, and 256 Gb phones. Kill the 16Gb phone. Replace it with 32 Gb. Make loyal Apple customers happy and don't give us reason to switch; tell B4U's company it can buy any new top-of-the line Apple phone in existence and it will meet his minimum requirements, a 64Gb phone would suit B4U even even better but a new premium Apple iphone will get the job done.
If the whole point of the device is to upsell people, then why are they coming home with a phone they can't use? We could probably go back and forth on this for a while but the fact is that any device at any price will have people wishing it was different and cheaper but the only way to know what people really want is what they're willing to pay for. As long as people buy the device, Apple will sell it and the argument that consumers are stupid and shouldn't be trusted with their own decisions only goes so far. The good news is that eventually they'll stop, and then you can say you were right all along!
