I agree. I've owned far more Android phones than iPhones in the past. So, you know what they say about assumptions... ;)

They're generally a useful tool on an Apple forum? JK :p

And so ? Who cares ? It still runs Android....

Yes, it still runs Android, the most popular and functional mobile operating system on earth. Indeed, it actually has real multi-tasking and a file system! Do you enjoy not being able to attach files to your emails unless they're on some cloud bs?

Reality check: EVERY other flagship in 2016 offers 32gb of storage as a base model and many offer expandable storage with dirt cheap microsd. I'm glad you're not the CEO of every other company competing in this space; I wouldn't want to be gouged!

Of course people have choices, that is fine, and the competition between Apple, Samsung and other manufacturers has yielded some excellent devices. But, let's call a spade a spade and realize that Samsung has leapfrogged Apple in terms of innovation and value by delivering cutting edge designs with consumer friendly features, which is exemplified in the S7 Edge. It is nauseauting to see the persistent rejection of reality with Apple fans; it's as if any move Apple makes as a company (even releasing a 3 year old design with a basic CPU upgrade... still using a 640p screen) is the right move and all competitors are idiots until Apple uses their ideas, then they become the innovator of said ideas and of course do a much better job implementing it than the company they stole it from. Surely, this will be the fanboy case for why Apple using a curved screen and AMOLED display is finally worthwhile; Samsung are just a bunch of barbarians who couldn't implement it properly and had the audacity to offer the design with expandable storage, foolishly not forcing consumers to waste cash on superfluous tiered storage pricing.

Honestly? I'm less than thrilled with the slow motion slide into mediocrity since the untimely demise of Steve Jobs, but they're still the best tech solution for me, speaking only for myself.

Curved screen is a gimmick to me. I'm not a fan of huge phones, I have an iPad for larger screen applications. I question Tim Cook's appointment as CEO, he may be good as an accounting wizard and be morally exceptional, but I don't think he's the visionary Steve Jobs was. iTunes is bloated, the multi-billion dollar Apple purchase of Beats music and headphones was a poor business decision and I mourn the loss of Apple radio. Having said all that, Apple still is the most tightly integrated ecosystem, and I'm well invested, owning a proliferation of Macs, iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs, Apple Watch and AirPort Wi Fi. iOS and OS X remain high quality standard operating systems.

I've been an Apple customer since 2000 when I got rid of a six month old Hewlett Packard desktop running Windows 98 that crashed, froze, blue screened or 'fatal error' messaged several times a day requiring multiple daily reboots. Apple "just worked" as the ad campaign of the era promised and I haven't looked back.

Time will tell if Apple can regain their footing, but no, I'm not the sort of mindless fanboy you seem to believe.

What makes you laugh about SD cards? They are extremely fast today (100mb/s write speed for mine), and tiny, and convient, and the phone is still waterproof with them. I guess you're laughing because you don't have the option. At worst, the GS7/Edge have 8gb of bloat on them, leaving you with 24gb free space + expandable, 1.5 times that of the basic iPhone.
Even if it was true (and it isn't) should I have to be impressed ?

SO basically you are telling me the S7 writes on the SD faster than on its internal NAND, lol.
And the SD cards on the S7 are sooooo useful: Samsung crippled SD card support compared to vanilla Android. So nice Samsung...

Why are you so bent on defending Apple for its beyond normal greedy profit margins. Asking for a 32GB base model isn't unreasonable. Apple has made more money than anyone else. All the more reason now for them to offer a base 32GB model. You are a consumer, you should be always be asking more for your money. Are you so understanding with your gas prices, phone bill, cable bill, other utility bills, grocery prices, etc... How about the price of a new car? Do you just go in and pay MSRP and then say thank you to the manufacturer and dealership that just gouged you with the MSRP? Did you pay list price for your house, or did you expect a better price than list? I'm guessing more than not, in every one of those cases, you didn't expect to pay asking price. For some reason, you're totally fine with Apple charging what it does, and happily pay it, then proudly tell of how much money they are making as if it's you making those billions. Smh

What is it with so much fascination for Apple's old designs? Have Apple fans lost faith in the company to develop something truly new and innovative? It's an odd phenomenon to me to see people essentially begging a company to re-release something it's already released rather than truly deliver something nascent. I know, Apple's designs were so great they couldn't possibly be topped; that's a rather pessimistic perspective on the most magical company on earth :p

Do you understand the concept of personal response for specific aesthetics? No? Let me explain.

I like the look of the square edges and the metal band in the iPhone. It's the same reason why I like stainless steel kitchen appliances. Gives off a cleaner look. There is actually a company that makes stainless steel kitchen cupboards. I saw it and I wish I could do it at home. I like the industrial look. Following this, when I do my bathroom rennovation, I will go for clean uncluttered black and white tile flooring and stainless steel hardware with clean glass around the shower stall. Get the idea? I like clean, stainless steel, industrial design. The only thing I won't do is live in a loft because I now have a family. If I had been rich when I was single I would have lived in a loft in the city. Get the idea?

If I were fascinated with old Apple designs I would be clamoring for the original iPhone design. Or the second. Or the 3GS. Instead, I like the look of the squared off edges and the metal band. I like the chamfered edges.

I don't know what you're on about talking about other than being yet another Apple detractor. We've got loads here. Must be sad living in the world these days.

If you're so into new designs and something unusual, I'm sure you're carrying a BlackBerry Passport. Certainly a new look. Certainly a more unusual design than anything Samsung has come up with. I'm assuming that's what you carry, given your worship of innovative design.

The SD card is rated at 100 MB/S and can transfer data that fast in some readers; the rates on the phone are more than acceptable for daily usage. I'm wondering if the iPhone 6s Plus in this test is running with full disk encryption (FDE) as the GS7 is-- notice that they make a point to say the S7 is in the graph, but don't for the iPhone. I read the article and it wasn't clearly specified. Samsung actually produces a large majority of the NAND for the iPhone, so it seems unlikely their storage would be much inferior; also, when you look at smaller 4K writes, the S7 is twice as fast.

I suppose I never thought of integrating the design of my phone with kitchen appliances; but kudos to Apple, inspiration from square "Al- you-min-eee-um" toasters and panini presses with banded edges is quite elegant. I carry the design Apple wants to release in 2017; a Galaxy S7 edge.

By the fact that curved glass phones aren't worth one iota more than plain glass phones.

You don't think it cost more to manufacture a curved screen from a flat screen. Ok, how about a cutting edge 2K flexible AMOLED display over a 1080P old tech flat LCD, 4 GB over 2Gb of Ram, or 32Gb over 16GB bar storage? How about the cost comparison of those FACTS? That in itself has worth.

I've just said that there still is a market for 16 Gb model and people's needs are different.
And I added that I wouldn't buy a Samsung phone even for $100 because of Samsung and because of Android.

5.8" now? Jesus H. Christ Apple, stop constantly changing the display size! You're screwing over app developers who now need to change the ratios and optimizations every two years or so. At least Steve Jobs stuck by the 3.5" display and his statements regarding such, unlike Tim Cook who keeps changing the perfect display size narrative to chase profits. For example: in 2012, 4" was the ideal size but then in 2014, 4.7" and 5.5" were the best and now in 2016, we're back to 4" being the perfect iPhone display size. Which is it, Apple? This is same type of fragmentation that people on this forum would rail against Android phones for but Apple is becoming increasingly guiltier of the same thing but Apple gets a pass because, well they're Apple...

This argument is absurd from top to bottom.

Apple is unable to charge above normal profit margins-- if they did, their product wouldn't sell. If the product is selling, then they've priced it correctly. That is the why tracking Apple profits is relevant-- not because we're making that money but because it's an indication that they are selling at the correct price for the market. That is simply a fact of business.

This Socialist idea that Apple has been successful in the market and should give free NAND to the people for the betterment of society is not how the world works aside from a few, small, failing countries.

Cars and houses aside, what other products you listed do you negotiate? More over, how many of those product did you successfully negotiate down by arguing with people who have no control over the price? You mention grocery prices-- have you successfully changed the price of milk by complaining over and over on some BovineRumors.com site? Do you spend your days complaining that one brand sells a 16 slice loaf of bread when their competitor doesn't offer anything less that twice that number?

I can't speak for others, but personally I'm tired of having these forums hijacked with constant complaints-- especially when it is the same complaint no matter what the subject is meant to be. This was an article about a potential curved glass AMOLED display, and it's gone on for pages and pages about whether Apple should be selling something you don't want to buy.

It's not about defending Apple, it's about being tired of the same conversation thread after thread with all the same lack of information. Complaining to me isn't going to change Apple's product offering. I'm tired of hearing it. I don't want a 16GB phone, but I don't see a reason they shouldn't sell one. You like your Samsung-- great, more power to you. I'm glad you have a device that fits your needs. For everything you say about what's wrong with Apple and what's great about Samsung, however, you have to view it in the context that Samsung is doing everything they can to stay alive in a market that Apple is dominating-- that's not a point of pride, that's a fact of the market.

All the talk is Apple doing away with headphone jack and you're suggesting they replace the headphone jack with a Pencil slot ... that's hilarious. I guess the Apple fanboys would accept that cause Apple would make the slot better / nicer than Samsung has, huh?
I think this Samsung fanboy needs to learn sarcasm...too much seriousness with suing each other has left him a very sad panda indeed.

Imagine an iPhone with no bezels
Not until Samsung does it and then three years go by after that.

Couldn't have said it better. Limitless and shameless greed. I'm done with Apple until they stop playing the storage game. 16->64GB first and now 32->128GB what a joke!! And don't forget the continuously dropping performance and quality of iOS.

Is that why Apple buys most of their parts from Samsung so it can make a decent phone. If you guys hate Samsung so much why do you buy Apple, it's basically a Samsung phone, I know, they're trying to break away, but they keep going back.
If you hate Samsung buy LG or Sony.
Yeah but the sad part is that Samsung sucks at it, and Apple is great at it with little problems on their phones...though they keep screwing up the iOSes they release.

The other problem to is that people don't see us Apple fans who are being sarcastic, but still like Apple. Yeah Apple is overpriced, but I still like Apple. I go holy **** when I see the costs of the Windows crap, but I am like ugh with Apple. But then again, look at my avatar, I am pretty much w/e with it all.
Well see....if someone is being sarcastic then that person opens himself/herself to a similar response. Then when that person gets that response, a funny thing happens....suddenly it's a call to insults and whatever else. Sarcasm is a passive aggressive tactic that is nothing more than an insult veiled in humour. Therefore it's going to be problematic in a discussion.
Personally, I hate passive aggressive cheap shots. And I don't hold back when a person hurls one my way.
If you tell me you don't like something...hey....no problem. But if you make passive aggressive sarcastic remarks and ridicule what I say.....oh lordy....INCOMING!!!!!!!!! D U C K!!!!!!!!!!!
I like my iPhones and my iPads. So because I like them I put money aside each paycheck and it's easy to get what I want.
See, I don't care about specs. Meh. Neither here nor there to me. I care about my experience with my devices. So I buy Apple.
I'm not an exclusive Apple user; I have all four NA platforms in play right now. But I'm Apple the vast majority of the time and my main device is my iPhone 6s Plus.
I won't argue with your preference or your opinions because you're as in your rights to prefer something as I am in my rights to prefer what I prefer.

I'm glad you aren't Apple's CEO...

reality check: EVERY manufacturer charges 80-100$ going from basic to upgraded storage.
Why would you be glad about that? You as a customer would benefit getting an awesome product under my management as CEO. You'd be one happy camper.
When did doing something the same as another manufacturer be the right decision? It never is. Having numerous storage options is stupid in today's world. Storage costs nothing, so include the best across the board and make it a non issue in the customer's purchasing decision. Customers getting 'storage full' errors have a negative experience from their product. This should be eliminated by the manufacturer not the user.
Apple can differentiate itself like this with no difference to its bottom line. Customers will be happy, not needing to think about storage options, storage errors, while Android and other users struggle with 32gb, 64gb, 128g and other such nonsense.

By eliminating the bezel, Apple can increase the screen sizes of the whole lineup by 0.3'' while maintaining the physical size of the device. I think that is probably why we have 5.8'' here, and the other two will be 4.3'' and 5.0''.

A totaly black iPhone with a seamless OLED screen? Please, take my money! Cant wait to see a moving wallpaper on a device like that!

Edit:
I couldn't resist to make a quick mock-up about my idea of a totaly black OLED iPhone. Would love to see it blacker than black.

What program did you use to make that concept?

And I added that I wouldn't buy a Samsung phone even for $100 because of Samsung and because of Android.

To beat a dead horse at this point, I personally feel like it's getting to where 16 Gb isn't enough anymore, but close enough to "enough" people will continue to buy 16Gb phones. Why? because they are all these consumers can afford and they will come to hate that they are stuck with what they chose.

Why should Apple replace the standard with 32Gb? Well the first ipad had a resolution of 1,024x768 and sold 300,000 the first day. As a tech innovator Apple evolved to retina displays.

Why was Apple one of the first tech companies to offer 5k iMacs?
Because as a tech innovator Apple offered what no one else could (in a surprisingly affordable way)

They didn't suddenly decide to be a charity. They adopted the superior tech because it offered a superior experience from 720p and no one else had the chutzpah to put out a 5k computer. That's why we love Apple, because they take risks and know what we want before we knew we did.

IMHO 16gb is no longer acceptable by today's standards, and I sincerely hope Apple establishes 32Gb as the baseline model starting with the iphone 7.

Slightly confused about this news... I have a regular 6 and am eagerly awaiting the 7 for an upgrade, but I can't figure out what news it will bring to the table if the one after the 7 (whatever it will be called) will have such improvements.

Not many improvements whatsoever
