In some countries, Apple Watch Aluminum (1st generation) parts (in all colors) may be substituted with Apple Watch Aluminum (Series 1) parts.

The naming of the Apple Watch models never made sense to me.

It reminds me of the Rambo movie titles.

I'd be super pissed if I paid for a stainless s0 and Apple said sorry, you get an aluminum series 1. I'd insist on a direct stainless swap. That's not an outrageous ask.

Mine was replaced just a month ago with a Series 1. Very nice! :)
Mine too! Cold + battery issues. It was a pre-order from the first batch.

Gold watch owners would be upset. That would be a huge downgrade for them.

What would be really nice is if they could just swap the internals, since it seems like the housing is mostly the same between Series 0 and Series 1. Although if you bought the Gold Edition you probably already got bored of it, got another watch, and gave your Gold one to your nephew or something.

May be a stupid question, but how do I tell if the watch I receive back from Apple is an original launch day one or a series 1?
Had to send my launch day watch in due to the back lid popping off and received a message today that I can pick up my replacement watch...

A little unrelated, but I feel like there haven't been any Apple Watch Series 3 rumors in a long time. Are those still coming this autumn or is Apple really on an 18 month cycle?

I hope they're released in September. Hopefully there have been no leaks because the Watch is relatively low volume.

Look how confused and conflicting the iPhone leaks have been, and that product will sell like crazy!

Before the Series 1/2 launched, there were very few rumors at all, with no physical leaks from what I recall. As a matter of fact, it was actually rumored Series 1/2 was to launch during WWDC 2016, and that never happened.

The only rumors thus far for the "Series 3" was a different Touch display and LTE. But there have been leaks. I don't think the Apple Watch carries the leaks the iPhone does, which likely why we don't see many part leaks.

I don't see the Apple Watch on an annual release. Series 2 is loaded with capabilities. I predict March 2018 through June 2018, near WWDC for the next major update.

I believe it will be an 18month cycle. A watch a year seems like a lot.

Even at 18 month cycle, it seems a lot.

The only imperfections with series 0 were exactly the GPS, CPU performance and water resistance. Apple solved everything with series 1.

And looking at the market, Apple has no competition whatsoever.

Completely agree. Im not sure what I even want from a Gen 3 Apple Watch.

Has anyone with a S0 Stainless Steel had their watches replaced with S1 Aluminium?

Quite frankly I would be distraught if mine was replaced with an Aluminium considering the premium I paid with the matching link bracelet.

Is that unreasonable?

Why would an SS be replaced with a Sport? Even the article states it only applies to Aluminum models.

I sent mine for downgrade and got back a Series 1. Definitely a nice speed improvement.
I had the exact same thing happen. Sent the serie 0 black aluminum’s watch in last Thursday and received a series 1 this Tuesday. I was prleasantly suprised. And no charge despite the fact that my Apple Care had expired on the original watch.

I wonder if they are doing free downgrades now. Because I remember last year that if you were out of warranty, it was the OOW fee to downgrade. Might be a reason to upgrade and then request a downgrade.

Kidding..Thats terrible and abuses the system.

"Original Apple Watch models are no longer covered by Apple's one-year warranty, but customers who purchased AppleCare for their watches are still eligible for no-cost repairs of manufacturing issues for two years from the date of purchase."

Not here in Holland, the EU gives buyers of these product a one year warranty, and Apple will need to obey these rules.

Ah I see, misread.

Got myself all worked up :D

Yeah, back when I saw this article I was wondering if there would be a chance for a series 1 replacement. However, for a simple repair like that it's unlikely to require a whole swap. But I can guarantee you that I'll be testing the durability of that adhesive on my series 0 until the extended warranty expires. Haha
When the back popped off my GF's they sent a replacement watch. I don't know if thats because we had AC+ so they offered an express replacement, or replacement is the only way to fix that issue.

Ha, no worries. I think there would be a lot of people PO'd paying for sapphire to get Ion-X.

I'm assuming you meant to say two years. But regardless, we are now over 2 years from launch day. Meaning even in EU, some devices are out of warranty.

i dont remember there being any series 2 rumors too, until it was announced on stage.
There was GPS leak, battery size leak, same casing leak. There were a few. Definitely more last year at the same time compared to this year.

I just sent my 1st generation Apple Watch in for repair hoping for a Series 1 upgrade and I was so happy they did! I absolutely noticed a speed difference and fluidity that was lagging before. AppleCare paid for itself in this situation!
