Apple Media Event Announcement? iPod Updates Later...

I am with those that think this is for the phone and nothing else, but I do hold out hope for some other music related goodies. We'll see soon.

Some people mentioned price points of $299-$399...that seems a bit pricey to me for what is essentially an existing phone with iTunes "integration". How much do phones with mp3 players go for these days?

anyone think if u download tunes on the rokr over the air it'll need to be 3G?

if so, wouldnt it make sense to include iChat in there too? maybe being able to video chat with ur iChat buddies? its def possible

Don't know about where you are but pretty much every 3G phone in the UK has video chat already. It's one of the things that they added to try to persuade us that fast networks are useful outside of just the geeks that want fast mobile internet connections for their laptops. Nice gimmick but it's a bit expensive to video chat when all you get is a blocky picture of the person you usually know anyway.

However, if they added a Jabber compliant iChat client for phones that I could use to alert me of server problems without it costing a fortune to stay online, instead of SMS, I'm there. ;-)

The W800 Sony Walkman phone is completely FREE with most average contracts in the UK. And that's a nice phone, not a Motorola.

I don't know. Everything is in boxes and wrapped in some kind of black sheet or something. I saw this on the camara's from our control center. Some of my friends are walking around it so that nobody tries to open any of the boxes.

Hmm, I'm not sure what to expect to be honest.

I'm not in the market to purchase anything, although if a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse was unveiled today I would buy that. I'm not bothered about a video iPod or a phone.

As I say, not expecting much but I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

I think this might just carry weight. I don't know about a bunch of people walking the streets looking down at this device and getting hit and killed by city busses however if done correctly and includes an HDMI or component out connector and WiFi I think I just might be enticed to look at this at least two times. Who knows, this might even warrant a trip to an Apple store for a 3rd look.

Yes. That's how we knew almost immediately that nothing was coming at WWDC in June: the store never went down.
