seriously. half the comments here. makes it obvious that you couldn't even be bothered to read this VERY short article. i mean, the masthead graphic and the title... did you even make it to the first paragraph? 🙄

To be completely honest, I didn’t read the article at all. I just come to the comment section for drama.

Always have. Always will. :lights cigar:

I only have Apple Music for myself and 200 GB storage for my family and i'm paying 10 euros. I don't need any bundles. People subcribe to **** they don't need thinking they are getting a good deal. You don't, unless you have nothing to do but to play Apple arcade while watching AppleTV+ and Siri reading you Apple News+ all day.

Translating into a table:

BasicSecondThirdHigher-End
Apple ArcadeYesYesYes
Apple MusicYesYesYesYes
Apple News+YesYes
Apple TV+YesYesYesYes
iCloudYes

My speculations:
  • Basic will be $2 cheaper, or $12.99, same as Netflix Standard.
  • Second will be $4 cheaper, or $15.99, same as Netflix Premium.
  • Third will be $6 cheaper, or $23.99.
  • These 3 tiers include standard Apple Music individual plan. Apple Music family plan can be added for $5 more, $4 if Apple is feeling generous.
  • Higher-End will include Apple Music family and 200GB iCloud plans,. It will be discounted by $8, or $29.99. 2TB iCloud can be added for $7 more, $5 if Apple is feeling generous.

Good table, but your pricing is way off. First, you are assuming Music is retailing at $10/mo. It’s $15.

Tier 1 will be $18/mo. Next, all sources confirm savings between $2-5 on range.
Therefore, Tier 2 will be $3 savings, putting it at $22/mo, Tier 3 will be $4 savings, at $31/mo, and Tier 4 will be $5 savings at a flat $45/mo for all Apple services.

The $45 number has also been circulated by other sources. Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, this isn’t going to be the deal of the year.

Bottom line if I want A B and C, and a bundle including those three is the same or cheaper than what I would pay standalone total, I'm taking it no matter what else is included.

forgot about icloud storage. That's a great idea!

That's a good deal. I don't use Arcade. I'd take:

Apple Music Subscription, Apple TV+, 50 GB iCloud Storage = $12.99/mo ($15.98 normally)

Maybe Apple News+ for $19.99 but can't see myself using it.

Huh, I'm paying $9.99/month for Apple Music Subscription (Individual). I thought that was the common price?

That's a good chart. Checking it out, I wonder if Apple will allow a la cart service bundles yet that would require changing the price points for anything but individual service plans.

Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade are $4.99/month
Apple Music varies from $4.99/mo (Student) to $14.99 (Family)
iCloud Storage from $.99 - $9.99
Apple News+ $9.99/mo.

I suppose Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade could be interchangeable as they're the same price. Apple Music Individual and Apple News+ could be interchangeable at $9.99. iCloud Storage would vary.

For individual plans, there could be a "build your own bundle", similar to "triple play" subscriptions:

- Apple Arcade or Apple TV+
- Apple Music or Apple News+
- iCloud Storage - 50 GB Plan free, 200 GB Plan $.99, 2TB Plan $4.99 when bundled with any of the above

I would definitely go with Apple TV+, Apple Music, and 200GB iCloud Storage for $14.99/mo., normally $17.97.

I'd also include 50 GB iCloud Storage for free with all plans.

Wonder how they will do it If you get a bundle with something you already get free or discounted through another service. Like with Disney, if you get the D+ H E+ bundle, and get D+ free through Verizon, they deduct the price of D+ from the bundle. Verizon also gives AM free, so will Apple discount $9.99 from any bundle you get that includes AM?

iCloud storage bump, iCloud storage bump, iCloud storage bump... 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I wrote on my list of speculations that Apple will probably offer Apple Music family as an upgrade, at least on the lower tiers. I think Apple would love to offer family as a standard feature to Apple Music but can't due to licensing agreements.

Hoping for a family variant of the tiers. Other than Apple Music, all of the individual subscriptions can be shared via Family Sharing.

My own current household Appe subscriptions. Give me them all at less than the individual costs and I’m in. Include Arcade if the difference is only a pound or so difference.

  • Apple Music Family Membership £14.99
  • News+ £9.99 (cheaper than seperate subscriptions to BBC Music, The Atlantic & Time)
  • TV+ £4.99 (currently free, £4.99 come November, will maintain the subscription)
  • iCloud storage 2TB £6.99

As far as I know, the free year is a one-time/Apple ID deal, so you can't have Apple TV+ free ad vitam aeternam

Right. I guess we just don't use separate Apple ID logins for our Apple TV, and that's the only place where we watch TV shows. Again, that's just my situation, others may vary.

This just makes one think that you're leveraging a couple of services to help prop up the number of subscribers on something you're trying to market badly. If I had to guess its Apple TV +

This way they could declare they have more subscribers by tying it to Apple Music.

These bundles are not designed to help you save money. They are designed to make Apple more money = and make consumers spend more I.e by paying for services they don’t originally want just because it looks cheaper.

2.99 for 200Gb is absurd

Agree. Perhaps most (maybe only) essential Apple service but leaves the worst taste having to pay for it.

That aside these bundles are garbage. You want one or prime? Pay an annual fee. Get Apple care plus on all your devices (ok up to 3. Phone iPad and watch) plus all the crappy services.

Plus they’re Apple. Provide some meaningless perks for Apple one customers. It’s all in the marketing.

I'm glad the highest tier just includes News as that's the only one I don't subscribe too.

I think a headline tier feature alongside Apple Music should be 1Tb iCloud storage for 'free'. Currently 2Tb costs £6.99 a month in the UK but you can bet that not everyone will use that much so cost wise it's not going to reach that for most users. Far better to let people fill iCloud up with their content rather than hit a (low) ceiling of 50Gb or 250Gb on a lower tier.

It will also remove a negative comparison with Microsoft if Apple were to go straight to 1Tb for Apple One.

Microsoft already do that with their Office 365 (now renamed Microsoft 365) software - each user gets 1Tb storage and not everyone will get anywhere near filling it. Certainly in an era where base storage on Apple devices is pushing past 64Gb and towards 128Gb SSD the 50Gb tier is already looking anaemic so why look like they are nickel and diming users?

Apple can certainly push the angle of the free iWork apps and cross compatibility. They have hired engineers to improve the service, which I think needs more granular control.

If they made this granular control (for example a Sync Now button amongst other features that One Drive users take for granted) and called this iCloud Pro - that would make it a very interesting proposition on a 2Tb tier for extra (bundle or not).

The other big tier feature is Apple Music, which they probably can't discount too much because they don't own the music.

It's just a question of what they can include after this to get people to buy in. It would certainly be a controversial thing if they emulated cable TV pyramid style packages where if you want one feature you have to buy others.

Apple Arcade and Apple News+ will have their fans and haters while AppleTV+ is currently free for many users who have recently bought an Apple device of some sort - so it should be thrown in regardless of bundle at all times if one of Arcade and News+ are selected.

I would still contend that Apple are better off throwing it all in for one price, and having a mechanism where they will pay the content source if a user actually uses the service even once during a year. By service I mean anyone who runs ANY Apple Arcade game, or reads ANY News+ service.

And perhaps offer a discount to the bundle if a user purchases a new Apple device once per year and registers it to their Apple ID - this could be equivalent to the $5 a month that Apple offers for free AppleTV+ when people buy an Apple device.
