Looking forward to using the app, though I am surprised it is not available on macOS yet so it will be interesting to see how they handle this.
That's just silly trolling. You know, if you don't like classical music, there are other threads.Because the classical people think they're better than the rest of us, and mustn't let their ears accidentally be sullied by our vulgar music.
I'm actually surprised that they'd even stoop so low as an app, lest the digital bits sully their pristine ears unlike their purest and warmest analog vinyl.
This is about as exciting as wet paint.
It shall to the barber's, with your beard. Prithee, say on: he's for a jig or a tale of bawdry, or he sleeps. This is about as exciting as wet paint.
The internet is good at getting ignorant people to parade their ignorance.Because the classical people think they're better than the rest of us, and mustn't let their ears accidentally be sullied by our vulgar music.

You have a point. When I play app generated playlists I often have to skip songs. There are songs I really like, and then there are those that are outright offensive to my ears. And this happens even with playlists that I made myself, because some songs are not right for every mood. But although classical pieces are not among my very top choices, I can think of none that I must stop what I am doing to skip. (And there are some that I would stop what I am doing to listen.) So I am excited about having a classical music app that I can use all the time whether I am paying attention or using as background music that I don't have to skip all the time."There are simply two kinds of music, good music and the other kind..." – Duke Ellington. There is bad music in the 'classical' industry, but it's a very low percentage. Bad music elsewhere is the norm.
Exactly! You should download a digitised score of Beethoven's Ninth and play it yourself....music that is free since classical music is public domain...
This is about as exciting as wet paint.
It's the internet PLUS classical music. For some people, attacking anything intimidating – successful women, immunologists, black historians, environmentalists – is what the internet is for. It's a shame to see it in this forum, but Apple tech has always been "for the rest of us".I am surprised at the amount of negativity (I guess I shouldn't it is the internet)
So apple can later charge for it.Why does this need to be a separate app? It's all just music... 🤷♂️
Don't want it? Then don't download it.
You do know this app isn’t required? You can safely ignore it if you want.
Relax. You don't need to download it. Classical music should still be in the Music app.
It's an optional app that you can simply choose not to download, if you don't need it. How is that more bloat than an additional, mandatory tab in the main app?
So your concern isn't about what Apple's doing, but what you're adamantly certain they will do later, something you seem quite certain of even down to the deletability of the as-yet-unreleased years-in-the-future version of the as-yet-unreleased initial version?Well, how long before Apple starts bundling it in iOS 17 as mandatory app taking up user’s space and it can’t be deleted, meaning it can only be hidden. Don’t want that. It should’ve been just be bundled into Music app as separate tab. Simple as that.
Oddly enough, I've got a CD of Weird Al doing a revised version of "Carnival of the Animals" composed and performed by Wendy Carlos. Issued by Sony Classical, I'm pretty sure.
I went into this asking "why?" too but several of the top comments had excellent explanations. It's rare to see a company the size of Apple do so much for a small niche audience, but not a bad thing, maybe they could also refresh the Mac Pro on a semi-regular basis... oh well.I am surprised at the amount of negativity (I guess I shouldn't it is the internet) about this app. If you don't like classical music then don't download the app. Apple is not forcing anybody to listen to classical music you can continue to listen to whatever genre you wish. As clearly spelt out by many people classical music has different search and payment methods.
There are about 1.8 million apps in the app store. If you don't like them, don't download or complain about the person who doesn't download the app you wish for.
Paired with a revised "Peter and the Wolf." Just checked Amazon -- that sucker's going for ninety bucks now. This is misleading. Weird Al and Wendy Carlos never performed Carnival of the Animals.
They created Carnival of the Animals - Part II. And Bruce the Duck is the best.

Isn't that nuts? You can get a copy for just $70 on Discogs. Bargain!Paired with a revised "Peter and the Wolf." Just checked Amazon -- that sucker's going for ninety bucks now.
Because all the complainers will complain the Music app is a bloated piece of crap and why didn't they make a separate classical music app.Not sure why it can't just be a part of the music app and needs a whole separate app.
