Almost like if Google, Facebook, Amazon and basically all others were not shutting down features, failed acquisitions and entire social networks on a daily basis.

The whole thing didn’t offer enough value to me. Did they ever develop it after launch?

I thought Connect was supposed to offer behind-the-scenes extras and insights but, like many platforms, it just ended up being self promotion where it was used at all.

It’s a shame because I think it could have been expanded into quite a useful feature. Why isn’t Apple Music telling me when my favourite artists are releasing new songs or albums? Why not tell me when they’re playing in my local area and sell me tickets using my iTunes account? I know other services already do this, but evolving Connect into an Apple Music Hub mightn’t have been such a bad idea.

I remember, few weeks ago, while I was setting up my new iPhone 8, I checked out the Connect section on the Music App, and even though I have plenty of bands, none was seeming to use it except Coldplay, and not much.

I hope Apple wont kill iTunes Match because that’s literally how I listen to all my music.

No one wants a social media for music. No one even wants to stay in music app while they’re listening for that matter. They want to hit play, listen in the background, and do their daily tasks. That’s why both services failed, they didn’t realize that.
Never truer words spoken. You'll probably still be branded a hater by the ADL though.

How would I go about becoming an Apple Music Artist? I have a bunch of music on iTunes already.

Edit: Nevermind, Found a sign up page on the web

Well you have to admit Ping was a little racist...

Can we get an effects visualiser built in to the music app on iOS instead of Music Connect, I’d probably use that more than a social network built within the music app!

It failed because Apple didn’t develop it any further or promoted it. They think because they slap the Apple brand on it, it will automatically be a success. They should have continuously invested and updated it.

It had some glaring omissions and they never bothered. It was too isolated. And you couldn’t click on an artists post and go to its page. Very annoying.

And why did they remove the "New music from artists you own" section from the iTunes store a while back? I cant see how this benefits anyone.

Hold on a moment! I can't be the only one that loves to collect Album art and view it when listening to music right? Ever since Apple killed the Music App, I had to resort to 3rd party apps like TapTunes to view the Album Art covers.

The social media crap I don't care for but give me a better media player interface.

Laughable. This was doomed from the start. Another failure for Eddy the Dancing Fool:D

Nice attempt at obfuscation but irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Yes, this is not the move I thought Apple was going to take when they are looking to expand their services. Why not do all the things you listed, plus disrupt the concert market by competing with Ticketmaster for selling tickets?

Rather than trying to compete with established social platforms, Apple should instead give artists the ability to connect their Instagram and Twitter content directly into Apple Music. So when visiting an artist’s page, you’d see their new music, most popular songs and album catalogue at the top and recent IG/Twitter activity below that. I would also love to see upcoming concerts in this profile. Nobody else does this. It’s an opportunity for Apple Music. Fans want to be able to see their artists live.

I had always expected them to buy or partner with last.fm at some point. But I guess that isn't Apple's style. At this point, last.fm's moment may have passed as well.
