Apple giving a clue?

At the end of the New Music Tuesday Podcast (from Apple) instead of listing what bands have new stuff next week, the host said "we have some new stuff that's gonna blow your mind ." A hint of videos? iTunes phones really wouldn't have an effect on the store.

i just heard that too, 5 minutes ago.

isnt roxie always exaggerating like this? maybe it´s just the 10.000th white stripes-exclusive track ;)

also, the new podcast will be released on tuesday, as always.
as the music event is on wednesday i dont thnk they´ll take anything away before the event...

...out in a car?

That would be quite a coup.

For me, the podcast always comes early Wednesday. And who knows...they can delay updating the iTunes store and the podcast until after any announcements. In the past they've delayed updating the store a day when new products were released.

:D

well, we´ll see.
to repeat my question:
is there anyway to participate as live as possible at the music event?
some kind of stream or news ticker, or sth like that?

just some posts above yours, here on this page ;)

i agree with the many opinions here: it will be the phone, but just beside the main attraction.
maybe an all new ipod mini with new design, and based on flash memory.
or - hopefully - the 5g-ipods with video support, together with itunes 5 and the itunes movie store :D man, i would be happy....

iTunes 4.0 brought was the iTMS, so what will 5.0 bring?
I doubt we'd see 5 until next year at the earliest.

I really dont care about that stoopid phone.

iTunes 5.0 will bring Video Clips and Movies into it...u'll be able to buy video clips and movies on iTMS..and of course sooner or later, they'll release the iPod Video...
I pretty much don't care about the phone too...to me, i just need a handphone that lets me contact people and for me to contact others when needed...other than that, i don't believe in playing games on mobile phones, mp3s on mobilephone and stuffss...

i think you're making that up. The iTMS was pretty much known before it's release and no one's said anything about video clips.

as we have itunes 4.9 now, i dont think well have to wait until next year for 5.0.
and i heard many rumors about apple selling music videos or movies, and possible negotiations with the industry.

i think definitely within this year.
and i hope next wednesday.

To all those who say "Why do you need a video iPod"...I say...

WHY NOT!!!

I have a couple hundred funny commercials, video clips, movie trailers, music videos, and blooper clips that I would love to carry around with me (not to mention almost every Steve Jobs keynote from the last 4-5 years) That if I could have them at hand at all times to show my friends, i think it would be great. Yeah, the appeal may rub off, but it's the idea that the ability is there that is nice. So what if they come out with a video iPod...DON'T BUY IT if you don't want video. Or simply use the extended battery features and don't use it for video playback...

I don't know, I mean when did 4 come out? Start of 2003? This year (if i remember correctly) we've gone from 4.7.1 (Shuffle support) to 4.8 (videos) to 4.9 (podcasts). I don't see 5 coming until Jan at the earliest.

okay, you´re right about that.
would be a really short time between 4.9 and 5 if there would be an new version on wednesday.
but remember how long they´ve been working on quicktime 7 for windows, which is said to be finally released soon. they can´t release itunes 5 without having released the new quicktime also for windows...especially if the next big thing should be video support on upcoming ipods and maybe in the itms.

but i´m very sure about one fact: the new ipod will come together with itunes 5, and it will be featuring video playback and a store for music videos and maybe movies.
and it will be within this year, or at the macworld in january.

I wasnt saying that people shouldnt buy it, i was saying it has no chance of impacting the way an audio ipod did. I was saying that, were it my company to run, id see a video ipod as being a much lower numbers seller than the audio, so if i was going to sell it at all, it would be a higher priced machine in order that the same overall profitability was maintained.

Id also point out that if your intention was (as other have also noted) to show vids to others, the machine strictly ceases to be a personal device...

Could anyone have possibly predicted the impact the iPod would have at the time of its release? It has surely surpassed even Steve Jobs' wildest dreams of success.

Apple will have high hopes for a video iPod and will not price it too high in expectation of lower sales to ensure profitability. Pricing something too high is sure way of getting those reduced sales!

The iPod itself is hardly a personal device. Sure it can be if you use with headphones but what if you use the iTrip or have a line-in cable to a hi-fi? Loads of people can then listen to your tunes. Surely the video iPod like the iPod photo will have a cable that allows you to connect it to a TV and show others your videos or movies?

What's an 'iPod'?

JUST KIDDING!! :p

Wha ever is released, who here will buy it?
Probably me for one!

Especially if it is an iPod video or the like.....

Counting down the days now.....till I max out yet another month on my credit card.....!

My personal preference is to watch movies on a larger and larger scale.... why would i want to spend a load of money on a small device?
Because you won't be watching movies on it. You'll be watching the weather in a 1-minute report. A 2-minute news report. A 3-minute music video. A 4-minute Rocketboom podcast. Things you can get in iTMS right now.

And, because you'll be making phone calls on it. Look at the Moto phones like the e680i. Stereo sound, stereo bluetooth, 2GB mem card yes, but also a 320x240 screen portrait-landscape, MPEG4, etc.

Macosrumors.com posted in May...

"iTunes 5.0, due in about three months, will reportedly include powerful new multimedia features -- all but taking over for QuickTime Player -- designed to work with Apple's developing HD Video Store and HD Media Hub device.... "

...but it is macosrumors.com...

You hit the nail on the head. I have a Motorola E815 and I have a free month of VCAST, Verizon's video service, on here and I want clips from The Daily Show every day. Stuff like that. Plus, this has a transflash slot, so the possibilities are like, endless.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahal. :D Love Macosrumors. They make up everything and always "change" what they said after the fact

"Tiger will come out in June at the earliest"
"Tiger was announced today for April29th as predicted"

And they say grapevine too much.

Not true! The podcast actually arrives Wednesdays, even though it covers music for the day before. This is real evidence. Good job!
