Pretty sure it works in reverse, sharing your opinion keeps you liking them. Also, celebrities are not all Kim Kardashian...one of them is our President right now...one of them used to own Microsoft and is fighting climate change. Bill Gates is a smart guy, he has a message. Should one ignore a good message because a celebrity said it? That's just dumb.

I would hope you’re smart enough to know That there exceptions. If you look at the actual news app you won’t find many Bill Gates.

Also, most celebrities are not as smart as you think they are. It’s all fake. They got people.

yeah, i'm sure they're gonna release the republican hopefuls list any day now, even if it's a small one.

Nope, no way, no can do. You see all of the Republican hopefuls violate every single aspect of decency according to political correctness. Even acknowledging Republicans can run for office is counter to the Silicon Valley elites.

I mean this with no offense whatsoever - It boggles my mind that someone can have the gall to call themselves conservatives but haven't even read any of the foundational literature. Of course you should! They are the most prominent and famous conservatives of our lifetime.

I'm a liberal, I disagree with them on most everything, but I like to read up on all sides. And at least they are intellectual leaders with well thought out ideas. Whether I agree with them or not.
Ah! Thank you for the tip. I'll look them up!

I call myself a conservative, as that is who I always end up voting for, but really politics for me work in reverse (as I think they should for everyone). It starts with me. What are my values? Having that established, what are the values of those currently asking for my vote? Which ones align with mine the most? Okay, I will vote for that person. For example, I tend to agree with Democrats on some of the environmental topics, whereas I agree with Republicans on social and fiscal topics.

Are you implying that things should work from the top down? Or that I should brush up on the history of the party?

That’s the standard right-wing response whenever anyone talks about Trump’s incompetence and corruption, but I genuinely don’t see how any rational person can look at Obama and Trump and not see that Obama is orders of magnitude more intelligent and ethical than Trump. Whether you like Trump’s policies or you don’t, he is clearly not qualified for the job, intellectually, emotionally, or ethically.
Who's Obama.

Apple has its institutional biases as well. This is the company that changed it's gun emoji to a squirt gun because....I don't know, guns are bad? Amazing. The constitution SPECIFICALLY recognizes the right to bare arms (even if you believe it only applies to militias) and a US Company is so contemptuous of it they turn a constitutional right into a toy.

I'm waiting for the Apple dead baby emoji to signal abortion. I say that in jest, but it would not surprise me if they did one. Maybe a baby with an X on each eye.

Wow. All this because Apple News has decided to put together a sub-venue to relay information they gather about Democrats who happen to be running for office in 2020?

Look at it this way. Without that information, maybe more people would think

gee the Dems are hardly even putting anyone up for 2020 against Trump, I guess there's no point in us Trump fans going and casting a vote for him again in the fall because he'll be re-elected by default, won't he?
Sure he will. :p Heh. Trump fans better tell their compadres to buckle up. Apple News sub-venues notwithstanding, there are a bunch of Dems running for the chance to take that dude on. One of them will eventually get the chance. The Dems are probably smart enough to all fervently back whoever that ends up being, too, no matter his or her age and slice of the political spectrum we Dems like to talk about until we have to find the middle of it every four years lol.

I'm looking forward to hearing more of what conservative pundits think of the Democratic Party's 2020 candidates. I do subscribe to some conservative magazines but I'm not made of money and can't subscribe to everything any "side" decides to publish. So the Apple News sub-venue aggregation sounds good to me. I'll see more info without having to make more effort to round it up and without spending the grocery money to get it.

Wow, this thread turned into one big Trump dumpster fire in literally no time at all...

Why am I not surprised. Anything Trump touches starts to rot. That's just who he is and what he does...

I just hope America is strong enough to survive him. This is truly a dark time in our nation's history, but I have to believe we will recover.

I'm sure they will all complain but I'm not sure Apple can keep itself non biased.

Comparing Apple to a newspaper is interesting since all newspaper's appear to be biased to some extent.

We're educated so we can discount for some bias while picking up facts we can use. Kids even up here in the boondocks are being trained to do that sort of critical thinking in middle school. I've seen high school kids write into the local paper to take on older letters-to-editor folks still writing on autopilot from hyperpartisan talking points. They end up in dialogues sometimes, and the elders seem a little bemused.

The kids are great, feisty and independent and using their minds and voices. They're reading for news they can use, and handing the rest back fairly politely as "you're entitled to your views..." I suppose the teachers may have to lean on them to stay civil, but they manage it despite encountering some terrible adult examples the kids must run into on the net.

Your point earlier about omitted stories is important though. I would definitely expect some conservative input to that sub-venue Apple's putting together, and feel confident it will show up. They'll welcome the opportunity to shine in a venue they may never have expected would have a niche for their views.

The category is "Dem candidates for prez in 2020" but it's good to know what some leading voices on the right will have to say about Trump's eventual opposition. I personally read National Review and a couple of Christian-focused magazines to get some flavor of what traditional conservatives, a few mavericks and some evangelicals think about Demo politics when they do opine on it. But there's more out there, and I won't mind if Apple News rounds up some of it for their curated offering.

Agree... I think many here are trump University graduates. And most graduating with honors.

Why are they being held in June? Iowa is six months out. I get it, every Tom, Dick, and Harry wants to unseat the guy but do we really have to slog through this sensationalist nonsense for 16 months?

Trump is going to bring it home so hard, heads will spin. The left has gone off the rails to the point of certifiable, and people can see it. Shame, I’m a lefty, but not like this.
Free this free that lmao nothing is free

Just a bunch of people trying to become Biden's VP.

Here is what I think will happen: Assuming Biden doesn't do something to royally screw up his chances (possible), Biden will hold Hillary's 2016 states and take Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin where he does well with blue collar workers and is polling well ahead of Trump. Biden is also ahead in Florida but by not as much and I think Trump may keep that. Biden wins 278-259, making it one of the narrowest electoral college victories. The win further divides the country, and Trump challenges the results (maybe in Wisconsin, where the results may be narrower), which divides things even more. Can't wait for that crap show. The Republicans retain the Senate completely blocking Biden's agenda, there are new investigations because of course there will be, and nothing meaningful ever happens aside from mass protests and more gun violence.

The rest of the nominations are relative no-names, aside from maybe Sanders, who doesn't have a chance in hell at winning against Trump. Of those no-names, the ones currently leading the polls include two females (still don't think the country is ready for that) and a man who is gay (the country is definitely not ready for that, although he is a veteran and very well spoken, has only run a smaller city). To be clear, I'm not personally saying these people wouldn't be good leaders, but that as a whole Americans are probably too biased to vote for them, by my estimation. Biden is the only realistic chance the democrats have to unseat Trump being more moderate than the other candidates and being a household name. Hillary struggled to mobilize minority voters the way Obama did, and I think Biden can play to those strengths and effectively use Obama in his campaign. The sooner they realize this and rally around him, the better their chances at success. Either way the most liberal of voters would still vote for Biden over Trump, so I don't think it's an issue that he is more moderate. And quite frankly, I think it would be great to have someone who is more moderate running the country. Although I would prefer a viable third party candidate. Maybe someday.

Overall I'm just tired of this political circus and wish that presidential elections weren't so frequent. Maybe every six years limited to one term? I think Obama and Trump both have abused executive orders and that needs to be reigned in with new legislation. The position of president shouldn't be as powerful as it has become. We need to emphasize more local and state elections, which is where people are more likely to be affected by government. The only people I ever see at my local elections are super old, majority male, and about 99% white. That's really unfortunate.

So in other words, we can debate the merits of a new Mac Pro on this site for 6 years, but being exposed to discussion that will effect the future of our country for 16 months is just too much for you to bear?
Hmmmm

What are you talking about? My point was Apple has its own biases (really with the squirt gun?). You just kind of ran off the rails there about telling people to buckle up or something.

By the time the general rolls around, they will be putting people in jail for making fun of Democrats.

it’s not the left that locking children in cages after separating them from their parents, it’s not the left rolling back environmental protections and ignoring climate change and it’s not the left trying to drag us into a war with Iran.

Let's see here- kids were in cages under Obama. Climate Change comes form many sources and has been going on for millions of years. I don't see Trump wanting to go to war with Iran.
