If you're buying the case for protection or visual preference thats one thing, its quite another to buy it to fix a product defect. I'm referring to the apple bumper cases, not 3rd party developers.

Really, to me this is like buying a HP Laptop for example, then having them tell me, "hey the wireless adapter doesn't work it is defective, but for $30 we'll fix it for you!"

The 5 years I've watched keynote addresses, I have not seen apple promote a accessory as much as they did the bumper case, I thought it was blatantly obvious they knew of the problem ahead of time and their fix was to charge you $30 for a bumper case.

It makes me even more angry steve comes out and says its a non-issue and to not hold it that way. Talk about arrogance like no other.

Oh yeah, Apple totally knew. Anyone who doesn't think so has to be a few cards short of a full deck. I mean, out of nowhere they release their first case that ONLY covers the affected area. :p Yeah that glass back is real sturdy being exposed Steve.

Yes, I am satisfied with my phone because I chose to use a case. People who choose to not use a case should get the same performance, and that's where Apple totally messed up. I just wish there were more reasonable people that didn't defend everything Apple does "just because"...

"Mr. Jobs liked the design so much that Apple went ahead with its development".

Yeah, this is exactly what I figured. This is why he said it was no big deal in his emails, and told people to hold it differently.

What a narcissistic douche.

I don't see him admitting any design mistake. So I am guessing he is just going to explain that the design makes the phone both thinner and also more sensitive at lower signal strength and that increased attenuation is an acceptable tradeoff.

This is all very fascinating. A real study in Steve's psychology.

It's not going to be a recall, but an extension of the warranty to replace your iPhone with the rumored new unaffected model if it falls within a certain serial number range. You will most likely get the option to register online to make an appointment to get it replaced.

I hope you're right. Its a real problem. Making me wrap rubber around my phone or "deal with it" are both bad options. Lets fix it and move on.

I don't understand why people are whining like little girls.. didn't apple say you can return the device if you don't like it...

just return the damn device and shut the hell up

The irony of you saying that is absolutely stellar!

The problem with that is when you consider how much money people have invested into the Apps on this Platform.

If Windows 8 couldn't connect to the internet, people would be pissed off.

So true. No one should have to pay for their mistake. Be a fan not a fanboy.

so you still have 2 days, the invoice says it all !! I really do not want to pay the restocking fee though not if their phone isn't working as promised. (my downstream doesn't exceed 800 kpbs and upstream 95 kpbs, unacceptable!!)

No that was just the entry date, not the order date. That was in the computer properly as 15 June and my my return period expired the 14th of July.

And being told you can only return it at cost means Apples on the hook to make it right, they are the ones that say the phones aren't defective.

i just want to say that,

to release a flawed product @ ridiculous price, i chose to say nothing
to bundle with ********* carrier around ATnT and simlocked to it, i chose to say nothing

but thennnnnnnnn? they have this ****ing plastic chinese factory made cheap-ass bumper , which if you don't buy, your signal will be fvcked for life, for 30$??????????? i see what you did thar, you fvcking greedy bastard.

i say **** YOU, steve jobs, YOU ARE NOT GETTING MY MONEY.

Shocking!

No recall who would of thunk it.

LOL.

Are some of you going to be pissed if Apple tells you to return your phone for a refund tomorrow if it does not work? Are you going to return it for a refund?
And if the report are incorrect and Apple provides a "hardware swap" or whatever they choose to call it, will those like you who continue to claim this is a "non-issue" be first in line for the replacement iPhones?

Wait til The Morning,..You may eat your words.

Although.......I like your thinking process :)

Wow, they better have a good answer for the people who don't want to deal with the hardware flaw.

hahahahahahahahaha, like Steve or Apple cares. I am sure they will make something up and move on, so how long till the next revision :D

if the loss of signal doesn't disconnect you, why do we even need to know the technical details (like 24dbm ****** things like that)

I didn't buy an iPad right away because I wanted to wait and see if there were any major issues. I didn't hear about any so I bought one last week and it is totally awesome!

I held off on the iPhone 4 for the same reason. I'm glad I did. I'll definitely wait until Apple gets this sorted.

For all of you who did buy the iPhone 4 and are having problems, you have my sympathy. It's not fun buying a shiny new toy and then finding out that it doesn't work right.

I hope you all get some good news tomorrow.

What Apple Should Do

1. Alter their manufacturing process to minimize the antenna issue.
2. Offer free bumpers
3. Offer to exchange your phone if you are not fully satisfied
4. Keep waiving the restocking fee.

And admit to pushing the envelope of industrial design because "hey, we're Apple."

This whole thing has gotten blown out of proportion. You don't have to buy one, and can get your money back if you want.

Or someone like me who invested into this phone. Iswitched carriers, sold my old phone, bought slot of apps on the first day. A bumper to correct the problem, a car charger, etc. Well over $150 of extras now. Not gonna get all my money back. So yes, I hope there is a hardware fix and I'm up there near the first to get it since I preordered.

I hate how people feel it's their God-given right to use an iPhone. Apple already offers to buy the phone back from you at full cost if you're not happy with it, I don't see why they even need to hold this press conference. People need to realise that there are bigger worries in life.

The real question is after they return the iphone WTF can they buy that does not suck all over. Sure maybe the phone part works but most of the rest just plainly is dung. Even the Evo with that massive large screen does not look like a phone and more in line to a small ipad. I for one was hoping for a smaller iphone on this ver, and in some ways its a little bit smaller easier on the hand.
Not some big bloated screen for watching HD TV, haha.

Sorry but that what my 50 incher is for, with 7.1 to enjoy a movie in all its glory.

can they do option 1) without going thru some kind of process? I don;t think it's that simple... i am sure they need to go thru some legalities
