I have no problems with my iPhone and I live in Hawaii lol pleople
If the phone is unusable, return it.
The bitching and moaning on this issue has become a joke. Nobody is forcing you to keep your iPhone. If it doesn't meet your needs get a different phone. People act like they are owed something....If I bought a pair of pants with a hole in them but didn't know there was a hole until after I bought them I would return them. I wouldn't bitch and moan that there should be a recall or demand the issue be fixed or feel like the company that made them had to do something for me....I would simply return them and get a different pair of pants
Owed something...like a phone that doesn't eventually drop a signal when you put your finger over a certain part of it? That doesn't seem unreasonable to me. It's not like Apple originally advertised that this was an issue either, this came to the table because of consumer complaints and 3rd party testing. Apple acted like it wasn't an issue and they are now facing bad PR because of it.
I can understand why people are mad. They bought a phone that can potentially drop calls because of the way they naturally hold it. Granted, some people don't have this issue, but this is probably to due to the fact that: 1) The location where they are testing it has a very strong signal, which can obviously change if they travel at all, and thus cannot produce the issue. 2) Have a certain skin type that doesn't cause the problem. 3) They naturally hold it in a way that doesn't produce the signal dropping. 4) Something else I'm missing here?
My understanding is this isn't because of some special iPhone 4 they have. Instead, it's because the unique circumstances they are in don't allow for the problem to be an issue.
Sure, people can return it. People should speak with their wallet. That doesn't mean they can't be pissed about it. They bought a phone with certain expectations (that I think are pretty reasonable) and they weren't met. I'd be pissed if I bought a phone that had an issue that the company denied.
I don't own an iPhone 4. I'm on the fence and what Apple says tomorrow might dictate whether or not I get one. FWIW, I was able to replicate the issue with the 3 iPhone 4s I have used so it doesn't surprise me that this might be relatively widespread.
For all the good he's done, it's time for Steve Jobs to step down. This is a really basic decision, and he failed his company, his customers and his investors. When form causes the basic function of the product to fail, it's time to rethink your design. Doesn't get much more simple than that.
I love how those who don't have the issue call those who do whiners. Such hypocrites in this forum.
Your argument was based on someone simply not liking a Mac, which is purely a matter of taste, not blatant deficiencies.
Jesus Christ, are you kidding me? Are there people who still actually buy the age old nonsense that government advocates for us? IT'S a ********** PHONE dumbass! Go back to murdering innocent women and children in distant lands for our "freedoms" you grandstanding, narcissistic. self-proclaimed manager of everyone's lives.
Why should iPhone4 be any different? If it's bad, then take it back. And don't give me the "but I bought all these apps so I'm locked into the iPhone," bullcrap. It would be no different if you were a new Mac user who ended up not liking it so you switch back to PC. You think you are getting a refund on the software you bought? Not likely.
Over a speed-bump?For all the good he's done, it's time for Steve Jobs to step down. This is a really basic decision, and he failed his company, his customers and his investors. When form causes the basic function of the product to fail, it's time to rethink your design. Doesn't get much more simple than that.
You are ignorant. Apple has no obligation to continue releasing iPhones, let alone working ones. %!#$ happens. You have no rights. I love your doofus badge of honor signature. You lonely, lonely person.
Agreed. I was perfectly happy with the PHONE portion of my 3G. No dropped calls, call quality good, could walk around my house with it and never worry.
With the IPhone 4, I get virtually no service in the house, walking around inside the house is an invitation to disaster (dropped call after dropped call). Even riding down the street on a major interstate I can watch the no. of bars go from 5 to 1 and back up again, and the phone is sitting in the seat beside me at the time.
I'll be the first to admit that I drank the kool aid at the keynote. I saw the iPhone 4, heard about FaceTime, retina display, 2 cameras, etc, and HAD TO HAVE IT!
I really wish I had waited. So far, this has been the worst phone experience of my life. And I've had a TON of phones over the years, going back to the old motorola bag phones.
C'mon Steve. Help a brother out. I really want to keep this phone. I love the feel. I love the style. But I have to be able to make phone calls consistently!
You are ignorant. Apple has no obligation to continue releasing iPhones, let alone working ones. %!#$ happens. You have no rights. I love your doofus badge of honor signature. You lonely, lonely person.
First off, sound quality is a matter of opinion. An equivalent scenario would be if the speakers you bought would only play music out of one speaker for every other song. That would be Sony lying to their customers.
Second, yes the "buying apps" is a valid argument.
Finally, the only way you could relate it to a buying a Mac and then switching would be if Apple only put out one computer capable of running OSX and then that computer not being able to connect to wifi if you were more than 10ft from the router. Your argument was based on someone simply not liking a Mac, which is purely a matter of taste, not blatant deficiencies.
You see the difference now? The part where you said "It would be no different if you were a new Mac user who ended up not liking it so you switch back to PC", well, it just does not work that way. It is different. I request you amend your false and misleading analogy.
If there was a way I could resell my iPhone apps, like I could my OS X or Windows ones, then that would be acceptable. However, I cannot. I hope you see the difference, I think everyone else can.
How is "buying apps" a valid argument? If you choose to buy apps for a phone that you consider defective, how is that Apple's fault? If you previously had an iPhone, you could always go back to it or trade the 4 in for the 3GS. Or get a good cheap phone and get an iPod touch for the apps; best of both worlds! Besides, I'd be willing to bet that Apple would refund new app purchases for iPhone users who return the 4; they've done it for lesser things. If you've been a long term user of iPhones how can you expect a refund for Apps because you are moving on?
This is not a Blatant deficiency. Neither my wife nor I have had any problems whatsoever with our iPhone4s. Neither does my brother, cousin or anyone else I personally know.
A separate note: You know this is an media-driven overblown event when "Breaking News" on CNBC consists of (paraphrasing) "Rush Limbaugh reports his phone works fine!" Oh Lord, Apocalypse Now, please!![]()
If Apple locks you down to their platform, they ARE obligated to keep releasing products that run it.
Before you attack, calm down and read, my friend: I said NEW Mac user. If you return your Mac within the return window, you are not going to be able to return your software. Sure, you could resell it, but you'd still experience a loss.
Another hole in your theory is that you can never resell your apps under any circumstances, even if you just decided to leave the iPhone platform for no reason and sell your iPhone. That's just the way any purchase in the iTunes store is licensed and you knew that when you bought them. The risk is entirely yours.
Besides, you are assuming Apple wouldn't refund your app purchases. If you are a NEW iPhone user and you decide to return your iPhone4 because you consider it defective I'd be willing to bet that Apple will refund those app purchases. My experience has been that they've refunded for lesser things, even just because I don't like an app. I've never had trouble with this, even up to 2 weeks from the time I purchased the app.
Apple has no obligation to continue releasing iPhones, let alone working ones? You really can't be serious with that quote right there. That's beyond fanboyism, at least fanboys defend apple quality. You basically just said "apple is so great they don't even have to release a working iphone, and you better like it!" you've just taken being a fanboy to a whole new level. If Apple locks you down to their platform, they ARE obligated to keep releasing products that run it. if not, sorry apple, you're gonna be dead. Looks like you've just proven your intellectual inferiority. And i like my doofus badge of honor, thank you very much. Calling people lonely while sitting in a corner crying that people are dissing the new iPhone seems pretty lonely and pathetic to me.
PS- I hope you never become the CEO of ANYTHING.
This is the core of my issue. If I leave because I don't like the platform, then that is my decision. However, if I leave because calls cannot be made while holding the phone in the left hand, then that is something else in my opinion. I don't mean to be an ass, but I have a long catalog of apps, and Apple says to either return it and loose the use of my apps on my phone or accept not being able to make calls while holding the phone in my left hand. Is that fair?
I've been an iPhone user since 6:10 PM EST June 29th 2007, when my iPhone was activated after waiting 6 hours in line.
Do you own, or have you used a Quad 27" iMac?Well, now we know the 27" iMac will never be recalled either, especially if they're not even going to bother recalling the iPhone.
This, we'll find out more about, tomorrow.I don't have an iPhone, but this is getting ridiculous. I'm starting to think Apple knew about these problems and defects with their products before they were released. Apple, get your act together.
But I hold it in my left hand when making calls. I have zero issues. Have you considered putting a case on it. Then you can have use of your apps and the phone too.
What if Apple discontinues iPhone tomorrow? Will you be expecting a refund for all the apps you bought over the last 3 years?
Kindly refer to my reply to likemyorbs above.
If you have to leave, because Apple does not support iPhone usage in the left hand, ...
