When do we begin the protest at the apple stores. I know some say return the phones, but what of the hundreds we have invested in apps we cannot use in OS X, or transfer/sell our licensees to.

We need to bring as much bad press on apple as possible for them to fix the issue or refund our money spent on apps we cannot use.

If apple screws us tomorrow, that day will be rembered as the day Android won.

Come on really, you can use them for the old 3gs. If you have spent hundred of dollars for apps since the IP4 was available 21 days ago then you are not telling the truth.

I really hope you're joking because that's a retarded idea to seriously claim.
Should Toyota also be reimbursing everyone for air-fresheners, fuzzy dice and car washes? No.

Those things work in other cars, or are consumables that would be consumed regardless of whether I bought a different, fully-functioning, car.

If you live in the UK and have signed up for a 2 year contract and perhaps paid another £100 ish towards the cost of the handset and have been using it the past few weeks.

As you have used the phone, and signed up with the mobile provider for a 2 year contract.

Do you even have the option to cancel it if you don't like what Apple says tomorrow?

No, you can't cancel it. O2 have a 14 day return period which has now expired for those of us who bought their iPhones when it first went on sale.

You are protected by the Sales of Goods Act and you shouldn't have a problem getting an exchange if Apple change the design of the phone to fix the reception issues.

I've been buying since the day the app store went live. I assumed iPhones would work out of the box in my left hand. I know, I expected way too much from apple.

So either return the phone for a refund or return YOUR left hand for a refund.

None of us care which... do one or, maybe, both though.

My original iPhone I got on launch day broke two months ago and I returned my 3GS after I got my iPhone 4.

Good maybe this will will silence the doomsayers and stop the pointless threads about a recall.

Unless the announcement is:

0) we now know it's a real problem. we apologize for false information we gave earlier.

1) we have a software fix coming that will really really fix it. It will be out ____. -OR-

2) we have a hardware fix coming, and all affected owners can get a replacement/repair for free (and we don't mean a stupid free bumper)

then "silence" will be the last thing you'll get - it will blow up in Apple's faces.

Risk. Jobs took a risk with the design. He probably mulled over all the other improvements to the phone made possible by the antenna design and in the end, he took a risk, a gamble.

Jobs and Apple attempted to mitigate the risk with bumpers. Maybe they had statistics that showed most folks use a case regardless. Maybe he was so enamored with the design and battery life improvements he was blinded to the risk. Maybe, maybe, maybe...who knows... Only the folks at the table know for sure and most of them ain't taking. Everything else is pure speculation. Fun to do, not terribly informative, and most always never proven.

So let's accept he made a mistake. Let's concede the point that the design is flawed. Does anyone really think Apple would be sitting on billions in cash had Jobs and the company not taken risks over the last 10 years?

iPod...just another MP3 player. You'd have to be crazy to attempt to lasso the music industry into a digital music ecosystem. Too risky...

iPhone...the cell industry is mature and strong, competent companies have been making great phones for a while. Just too risky to jump into this market having NEVER made a phone before.

iPad...nobody wants a tablet. The world is crazy for netbooks! No keyboard? No USB? Just a screen and an OS? Too risky...

Apple TV...it worked for the iPod! Maybe we can lasso the entertainment world! Too risky... Failed (to date).

Great companies take risks. Some risks work out fine and they are rewarded by the marketplace. Some crash and burn, and the company either learns from its mistakes and grow stronger, or they pull into their little world and stop taking risks.

Jobs is not some PC infected "manager" looking to insure a great performance review. He's a flawed leader that's done a rather nice job of delivering some really cool, fun, USEFUL stuff to the world. And he's helped put together a team that produces way more success than failure.

This is not the end of the world. This is not the end of Jobs. This is another risk taken that failed which will inform Jobs' and Apples' decision processes going forward. They will make more mistakes going forward. I'm optimistic this particular issue will help make this company stronger.

If your phone is not what you want. Please, take it back. Vote with your dollars. That will send more of a "message" to Apple in a shorter period of time than any lawsuit, forum post, or rant directed at Jobs' inbox.

What about all the money spent on apps? If a design flaw makes me leave the ecosystem , then the money spent on apps should be returned.

You're kidding me right???

You want full refunds for all the apps you have purchased? Regardless of the fact that:

1) YOU have used the apps for at least a year (I'm assuming you had at least the 3gs before the iPhone 4)

2) YOU agreed to the iTunes terms and conditions before buying any of the apps.

Try calling Microsoft and demanding that you want a full refund for MS office 2007 because you are sick of viruses on windows and you are switching to a Mac.

Grow up and take responsibility for your own actions.

I told you there would be NO recall!

There is no need for a complete recall. Get a bumper. Not hard.

Or just return the damn phone.

or just don't buy the damn phone, which is what I am leaning to if there isn't a real solution tomorrow.

Tool. Return your phone, Apple isn's responsible for what else you bought, that you can use on multiple other platforms. The majority of iphone 4 users are return iphone users. You can use them on other devices.

And ANYONE that buys a newly developed product on the day of launch was stupid for not waiting anyway. Xbox anyone? Always wait a month or two. Welcome to electronics.

And anyone that purchases a product on the day of launch is what allows a company to refine their product due to unforeseen flaws, bugs, glitches, or feature adds that represent the v2 that YOU purchase. If no one buys v1, then there *is* no v2. Everyone waits a month or two, then it's just a month or two later that any issues are uncovered, and progress slows.

Consumers *need* early adopters, companies with competing products (Droid, WP7), and mass adoption of products we like and the maintenance of accountability and resolution for the problems we encounter along the way.

Heck it's what will allow ipad v2 to be night and day better than v1.

you are incorrect, the sales of goods act clearly states that your purchase has to be fit for purpose, its a friggin phone that does not work correctly as a phone

get real mate , phone companies will not be able to keep you tied to that phone on a contract if its not fit for purpose, but apple would have to admit their was an issue for it to stick

"The iPhone 4 signal issue has exploded in the media in recent days even with New York senator Charles Schumer publishing an open letter to Steve Jobs expressing concerns about the issue. Schumer is known for his efforts in consumer protection. "

Senator Charles Schumer open letter to Apple WTF? who does this guy think he is? What in the hell is this country turning into?

There's a huge difference between taking a risk with features, form factor, or product category, and taking a risk with quality.

Risk. Jobs took a risk with the design. He probably mulled over all the other improvements to the phone made possible by the antenna design and in the end, he took a risk, a gamble.

Developers have no way of knowing who bought their apps, and if they, out of the goodness of their heart, decide to trust everyone and refund the money out of their pocket, they're out the 30% apple keeps.

Software returns are done through Apple, and in a case like this, where the fault is Apple's, I don't think it's ethically right to even ask developers to pay customers money they never even received.

Gee I am such a troll that I expect my phone to work in my left hand. I'm just a troll like that.

Downgrade to the 3GS then wait till it is fixed and quit bitching, it is quite simple.
Or buy a Android Headset and an iPod touch and quit bitching.
Or just quit bitching.

My original iPhone I got on launch day broke two months ago and I returned my 3GS after I got my iPhone 4.

Oh, we got a victim here. He is a veteran of bad experiences. Poor guy.

Apple or any company is only responsible for what they developed. Wait till tomorrow big guy(or gal). This does seem like something that will be fixable. Your life will not end because of a cell phone. Next time wait to buy it, and don't get it right away.

Off topic, Does your toyota's accelerator get stuck too?

When I purchased the phone I wanted the phone that was sold to me, not one with a bumper. I will not be happy with a free bumper.

I want an iPhone that works. I don't want to return it. I have had the 2G, 3G, and 3GS with no problems.

It needs either a software or hardware fix. Either way, a fix that does not affect the cosmetics of the phone in a poor way (like a bumper). If it takes Apple 2 months to get me that fix, fine, just at least tell me they are going to FIX the problem, not HIDE it with a bumper.

Do the right thing Apple.

So either return the phone for a refund or return YOUR left hand for a refund.

None of us care which... do one or, maybe, both though.

yeah. completely ignore the fact that this is an epic failure from apple and everyone should still continue to support them, right?

not every apple user on this forum is as daft as you lunatic fanboys who would jump off a bridge for steve jobs. speak for yourself next time.

I doubt it. They have been remarkably stupid.

+1

Refund and research or shut up.

I don't care anymore. Apple failed. enough said. they are so arrogant still not to admit hardware design flaw. I don't think that they could fix this damn problem by simply software update. I said it before. it's unpleasant. RECALL please.

So Apple failed huh? Do you even own an iPhone? if you do and it happens to be an iPhone 4 and you are experiencing the antenna issues why don't you just return it for a full refund and stop being a moaning baby???

What a Dbag u are. Ur the typical whiner that can just fix its problems but chooses to just sit behind a screen and complain.

Yes, there's a problem for a certain amount of iPhone customers and unless you are a clairvoyant u don't even know what Apple will offer as a solution in the near future.

BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR DEVICE JUST RETURN IT FOR A FULL REFUND AND SHUT THE F£$%CK UP.

Now for all the others that actually want to keep your iPhones 4 (without the flaws) I hope you get some good news in the upcoming days.

End of the day Apple has a good record of rectifying their wrongs despite what haters might say(facts not fiction) and thats also why they are in the spotlight right now cause every hater is just waiting for Jobs and Co to fail miserably (which I think they will not despite f&^$ing up every now and then, but that's just my personal opinion).

I'm not loyal to any brand, I use a MacBook yes, but I also use a Canon DSLR, a Philips LED TV, I drink Peroni beer but sometimes I drink Amstel, I DJ with native instruments products, and most important all this brands have been chosen in the past 7 to 10 years over other brands I used to work with like Microsoft, Heineken, Genius and Sony Vaio's.

So what I'm trying to say (and it doesn't only applies to the iPhone 4 signal issue) is that if you are disappointed with a device just jump for the next option you find best.

Hating Apple (or even taking it to the personal point of hating Steve Jobs [whooha, get a life]) is a form of "fanboy-ism" as much as the guy waiting in line for an Apple product.

Seriously not only get over it, get smart and return what u dont want and wait until they get it right or another company gets it right, GET SMART!!!

Peace dudes...
