I'd like it if the Macbook were a bit thinner/lighter. Not as thin/light as the air, but moreso than now. Also, w/ the multitouch trackpad of the MBP and an LED screen :)

I wholeheartedly agree. But think about it: If the MB comes too close to the thinness and especially weight of the MBA, then the latter loses its reason to exist. All those bucks Steve spent on developing, marketing, general hoopla raising down the drain. That ain't going to happen.

Maybe slightly more realistic (just slightly) to yearn for a 12" MBP; but even this begins to make the MBA irrelevant.

But yes, a bit of trimming/lightening up and maybe the LED would make the MB significantly more appealing...

I agree with you except for the 12" MBP, because even the MB overpowers the Air, by far. A 12" MBP (or more likely, a 13.3" MBP) is a completely different machine, that doesn't even snip sales from the Air. If anything, it would be sales from the BlackBook, or the 15" MBP, as those combined are the 2 machines closest to the replacement for the 12" Powerbook we all wish they had.

Hopefully, this is the least Apple will do.

MacBook:
Aluminum Case
LED screen (optional hi-res 1440x900) optional matte/glossy
Speakers (on the sides of the keyboard - but the power button is NOT on the speakers)
multi-touch, oversized track pad
black, back-lit keyboard (or silver....)
rounded edges
more ports
more like that mock up ^
aaannnd....
available (anodized aluminum) bright (or dark....) cooolors!
Yellow
Blue (light)
Red
Green (light)
Silver (default)
Black

(white keyboards for colored laptops, and black keyboards for silver and black)
MacBook Pro:
LED screen, high-res, optional matte/glossy
Move the power button away from the speakers :D
Magnetic latch, instead of button
more ports
multi-touch, oversized trackpad
black, MBA like, back lit keyboard

I think a good strategy to circumvent infringing on the MBA's market would be to simply revamp the look of the MB in addition to a track pad and a spec bump but also just lighten up the thing. I personally have a MBP but when i hold a MB it just feels much more dense and heavy to me. I dont think it would be out of the question to lighten it up a pound or so...

Depends on what you want to remove. The reason it feels so dense is because it has to have nearly everything a MBP does, just in a smaller package.

So far, all the mock ups have been very impressive.

Somehow I've come to believe that no matter what the design apple

has made, the majority of us will love it.

Well, their designs have never failed to impress me.

So I'll just wait for the new Mr MacBook :). I almost bought one till i came across this rumour.

This is by far the best mock up I've ever seen.

Whoever made this should apply for Apple's design dept. :D

How about a, Chip Foose two tone paint and pin stripe.

My parents just sent me $3000.00 to buy one. I aint getting it till the new ones come out.

Hurry up!!!

Haha, oh you guys. All these "zomg new MacBook" mockups - with pretty much every feature from the MacBook Pro, or Air... just admit you're cheap and want MBP features at MB prices and spare YOURSELF any upset when some products never ever ever ever ever ever materialise

When are the new Macbooks predicted to come out? Im in the US in August and have to buy one then.

where does the speculation of june-augest come from? Is it because of montevina's release?

I would love a dedicated video card but Isn't the x4500 (montevina) supposed to be a pretty impressive integrated card?

The x3100 isn't that bad of integrated graphics. 3.5 in vista. Which is a lot better than some other IGPs can boast. I think that the MacBooks could use a definite dedicated card. A little bit more of looking into the 4500 series, they are talking about Q2 this year. It would be nice to see them soon!
