99.99999999% of the people would agree, but that is there right. Free speech gives them the right to offend whom ever they'd like.
Of course they absolutely have the right to freedom of speech. I am not denying that. But I also have the right to peacefully disagree and support who I feel best represents my beliefs. If it's SPLC then I could dontate to them. If it's some other organization then so be it. Apple is only saying that this is who we support and if you would like to do the same you can use the link. If not go about your business and purchase your movie, book, app or whatever it is that you came to do.

Supporting the fight against bigotry and racism is a worthy cause. Tim Cook needs to stop donating Apple Co. money to worthy causes. That is not his money, its the stockholders' money. The stockholders need to get their dividend checks and then decide to donate their money.

Your whining about "targeting the white population" is patently false.
They have listed the Nation Of Islam (a black and muslim/islam group) as a hate group, New Black Panther Party (a black and anti-semitic group) as a hate group and have a whole file on the Black Separatist ideology for being anti-white among other things.
What you really meant is that you don't like when the SPLC speaks up against nazism.

Im a jew, so nazis does not exactly like me. They would gas and burn me if they could. I hate nazis, but what I hate even more, are leftist morons who play the nazi card is someone is a smudge more right-oriented than them.

I could be wrong but aren't they quite a hateful borderline racist group? Why would Apple support this?

Because Tim Cook is a busybody who knows more about telling other people how to live than about making great products. Because board member Al Gore has made tens of millions from his seat, despite having never worked a private sector job in his life, besides as a reporter for six months. Because VP Lisa Jackson was a key Obama lieutenant, who used fraudulent email aliases as a federal employee to avoid FOIA requests.

SJ's politics were left wing, but at least he had the common decency to keep them to himself and focus his public energies on making the best products possible for everyone on earth, even people he didn't agree with.

I wish Apple stayed out of politics.

Sadly, It appears that all large corporations are getting involved and it's not good. Sure in this instance it might be okay, but there will be a day when the message might be yours.

At first they came for my.......

You guys would think Toys'R'Us was a left wing terrorist organization if Fox News told you it.
Assume you think anyone who speaks on Fox news is a representative of Fox news therefore knows nothing on the topic being discussed? And who said anything about Fox news anyway? This is about the scam group SPLC not Fox news.

This is the Tim Cook Apple vs the Steve Jobs Apple. I don't recall Apple taking political stances under Jobs. But hey, I guess it's more important to virtue signal from the ivory tower than it is to just make great products that potentially revolutionize an industry.

Last you checked? That's such an adorable (and overused) trope.

Apple chose to address an issue that is affecting the US. As a US-based company, there is nothing wrong with that.

"It seems to want to be a SJW in America but kow-tow to oppressive governments where it needs to build marketshare."

Don't like that or the positions Apple chooses to take? Please, standup up, be courageous, and vote with your wallet. There are loads of tech choices out there.

I generally like theirs products but prefer not to have an activist tell me me how to think. Abandoning a platform I have used since 1989 would be a big, expensive pain. More and more, the stances of CEOs sound like, "If you do not support us, you are _________." Which I resent. So I'm totally screwed.

Or maybe all the battles have loudly moved out into public view since Jobs died? I don't recall Steve Jobs being alive during GamerGate, the alt-right's test run temper tantrum.

Oh, and:

Imagine the **** Apple would get if they used that today...

That's great, but this article is talking about donating due to a recent protest involving NeoNazis who were even chanting "Jews will not replace us", so I'm not sure why you are disputing the mention of nazism in my original post?

No, nothing wrong with that. But why now? SLPC has been around for a very long time. It's just NOW that Apple want's in. Racism, the KKK, Neo-Nazis... not new. Didn't start in Charlottesville. So it takes a sick-o to run down protesters for Apple to want to start taking donations for a wholly unrelated group that really doesn't need money? Yes, sounds like grand standing to me. C'ville was a tragedy but it wasn't a natural disaster.

I don't care what social positions Apple takes but they should be consistent. That is my point. Apple (and other companies) like to rush in when the publicity factor is ramped up to make itself look good. But then it conveniently ignores similar issues in other countries it does business, has offices, factories.

They likely are consistent internally (I loved Jobs' perfectionism and his vision, but he was a modern hippie). The CEO/SJW hybrid model has been evolving for a number of years and TC is on trend. It has become so common, I think Apple/TC feel it is safe to virtue signal whenever they get an opportunity.

Thanks Tim, we know you always do the right thing behind closed doors and out of the spotlight.

Thanks also for contributing to ADL, or Anti-Defamation League, responsible for actually defaming innocent individuals on the 'alt-lite' who don't spread or spew hate, and have nothing to do with white supremacy, with clear intentions to cause violence and harm to them and discredit their journalism by association of putting them on this same list with scumbags like Richard Spencer, titled "From Alt Right to Alt Lite: Naming the Hate":

Mike Cernovich is JEWISH, and his wife is Persian, and he has a Persian CHILD.
What a racist and anti-Semite, amirite?

Jack Posobiec is a Navy vet and his fiancé is an immigrant.

and Milo and Lucian Wintrich, are GAY dudes.

Great job, ADL and Tim.

I can see why Democrats want to remove the statues of the Democrat segregationists and Democrat KKK members all over the south. It must be embarrassing to admit that it is their history. That is a TRUE "Inconvenient History".

No one can approve of the Dixiecrats of whom you speak. Of course, modern day southern Republicans are the new Dixiecrats.
I would add that it was a Democrat who championed the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act. Nixon's bigotry is well documented and he understood the lingering racial issues in the south which lead him to develop his "southern strategy".
Racism is racism. There is no sugar coating people who stand on the wrong side of a moral issue, including so many clergymen.
Oh yeah, no one is erasing history by removing confederate monuments. The history is still there. It's funny when I hear of confederate monuments in states that were either in the North or not even states. Why is there a Jefferson Davis highway in Arizona?
Regardless, Cook is the CEO of Apple and is responsible and held accountable to Apple's Board. He can direct Apple to contribute to any organization he desires. He take any political position he chooses, just as other CEO's do.
Someone said "grandstanding" but I think it was just a message being sent by Cook who is obviously a man of deep convictions.

Same

As a conservative Apple supporter...I threw up a little bit in my mouth when I saw this. Why not just give AntiFa and BLM billion dollar donations and then brag about it? This is definitely a chink (I know some PC liberal will get triggered by this word but look it up...) in Apple's armor. All these companies that are anti-(fill in the blank) make me NOT want to buy their stuff anymore. Virtue signaling of the worst kind.....
