Keep trying on AT&T: I just got mine preordered. They seem to be better than Apple store
 
Successful order on AT&T?

A few people have said they were able to order on AT&T...how?? I click the "Preorder now" button and put in all my info on the "AT&T Upgrader", it tells me I am eligible for upgrade, and then brings me to the "Choose your iPhone" page. This page only lists the iPhone 3gs and iPhone 4...no iPhone 4s anywhere. Anyone else having this problem?!

Also, a few people have said they called AT&T or Apple to place their orders on the phone. I have tried both but I thought all their phone service centers were closed at this time of night.
 
Funny, I recognise some names here complaining they can't get through to order - the same guys who said they get an Android instead .. I love ze intaweb :p
 
I was able to order through att.com just fine. I had no problems and went all the way the first time. How come I don't feel comfortable about my order?

The order confirmation says "Your order is expected to be delivered on 10/14/2011. See details below*."

The details below say:
"Actual shipment date and receipt of your order is not guaranteed and may be subject to delays for reasons that include, but are not limited to, product availability, inventory, credit issues, number porting or carrier delays, and completion of other required AT&T business processes."

That part about "product availability" makes me a little nervous.

I am a premier customer on hold with 611 now as well... really frustrating at 4:52 AM when I have work tomorrow.

EDIT: Tried one last time to access the Apple.com order while I was on hold, and when I selected the phone, it said they had an iPhone order for me, and to please enter my apple id. Then it reserved the phone and sent me the reservation e-mail. Hopefully AT&T will let apple complete the order with the premier info.

Att finally works!

After two hours of bouncing between apple.com and AT&T.com AT&T finally processed my order with a delivery date 10/14/11. Guess I just made it under the wire. FYI I ordered the 64gb white
 
ATT bogged down

Been getting errors from ATT.com:

"There was a problem with your request.
Code: 
P1234: We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are unable to support this request online. Please contact Premier Support at 1-866-499-8008 Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time for assistance with your request. Please reference Error P1234 if you speak to a representative about this error."

AND Apple.com during the AT&T verification process:

Code: 
"Your request couldn’t be processed.

We’re sorry, but there was an error processing your request. Please try again later."

on the phone now, on hold with ATT... hopefully I'll eventually get through...

Did mine on the apple store app via the iPhone - had no luck on AT&T or apple sites
 
to order from att...you have to login in to your wireless account ..then go into the upgrade option and pick the line you want to upgrade. Thats how i did it from my family plan.

ATT rep stated that all grandfathered iPhone customers will be able to keep it but you may get stuck having to call in to confirm it after ordering. And that ATT would only give you 30 days to do so.

Try AT&T site from your phone. I got through after a nightmare evening. My Internet went out at exactly midnight, kept trying from iPad (3G ) then as last ditch went to AT&T from phone and got it. Good luck.

I'm guessing this phone isn't as much of a "disappointment" as we thought.

Remember, the hard core fans are the ones up at 2am-5am trying to get this. My guess is that within a day or two the order site will be pretty smooth, though the shipping times will increase a bit. Apple has 2 product releases a year that get this kind of instant volume (iPhone and iPad). It doesn't make much sense to invest in capacity that is used twice a year.

At&t

I was hoping to pre-order to stand in line at Apple (it is a yearly tradition after all!). I couldn't get through, but was able to upgrade three lines just fine from AT&T's website. Good news is I can sleep in on the 14th!
 
Was getting the "planned outage" message, but just now got in and ordered a 64GB Black on AT&T.
 
Looks like Apple took out the eligibility check and ordering and went straight to a reservation to send people later to spread out the load.
 
Now that was a smart move by Apple..... just give folks a reservation number and screw the online interface to the carriers. I just ordered two of these in black 64GB in a matter of seconds. This should have happened two hours ago.
