I gave up on apple site and pre-ordered through AT&T, was very smooth, no waiting or loading. Got confirmation email for my 64GB White iPhone 4S immediately. I would suggest anyone having issues try att.com

Funny, I recognise some names here complaining they can't get through to order - the same guys who said they get an Android instead .. I love ze intaweb

I am with AT&T now, but switching to Verizon. Apple store was late starting, so I just ordered on Verizon at about 2:10 AM CT. I just got my order confirmation from Verizon saying my order would arrive on 10/14/11.

Wow alot of you need to open your eyes-- for the att unlimited plan look BELOW and you will see that you can select "4s unlimited plan"
About att white iPhones-- when you are about to add to cart there's a drop down on the right side to select color

Happened to me too, but then in the search box I put "iPhone 4S" and it came up with some cases, but below the pictures of the cases the first link was for the actual iPhone 4S and I was able to order very easily, 64GB White!
so try that maybe?
Anyone Preorder from a carrier site and still able to get the Applecare+?? under the TOC for Applecare+ you have to purchase at time of purchase of device. of course Verizon doesn't give me the option to buy applecare.
Was just going to post this. It sounds like they simply allowed us to reserve so we know a unit now has our name on it and they'll be sending us a link to go back and complete the provider details around plan, etc. later on. That's an acceptable trade-off. I just started trying at 4:45 Eastern, so about 12 minutes worth of effort was worthwhile for me!
