To those who preordered through Sprints website - have you received a confirmation email yet? I see they charged my CC immediately, but I have yet to receive any type of email from Sprint. Then when I go to chec my order status on their site it says it's down. Wtf....

no, i ordered through Sprint last night around 2am PST and didn't get an email...but i was able to check the order status site and it acknowledged my order as having gone through.
 
I ordered through apple and I have the charges pending already in my bank account.

Same for me with my VISA CC. Normally Apple does not charge your CC until they ship, so this tells me they are shipping right away. I suspect some of us will get phones a day or so early like last time.

Okay thanks that makes me feel better. I didn't write down that ridiculously long order saris number because I just figured I'd receive a confirmation email immediately so now I have no way of checking my order on their website ad no email lol. Frustrating....

They aren't charged, the charge is pending. Like at a restaurant when they pend the charges before putting in the final amount that you add a tip to. It's not finalized until they enter the tip amount and finalize the charge. We'll have to see if these "pending" charges go through in the next 2 or 3 days or if they remain pending until they actually ship.
 
Just ordered

I stayed up late to order worrying they might run out or the phone would ship later. Site issues took forever and didn't end up getting one bought.

Went to sleep, woke up late and first try went through on Apple's site with still a current delivery date of Oct. 14th.
 
Placed my order bright and early this morning. Hoping to get it early on launch day! Can't wait, so tired of my virtually unusable 3G.

3 hours later, still no confirmation email, finally after many tries got to the order status page, but it says no orders associated with this account, and can't get through to apple on the phone <sigh>

when the 4 came out with Verizon, I did it through Verizon cause apple was down and got my phone 3 days earlier than everyone else.... i'm hoping this happens again!

No worries. They just took that page down. Says "We'll Be Back Soon" if you try to check the status of your order. I'm assuming it was not working.

Funny the live chat help went offline around 7:30. Stupid Chrome crashed on me after I waited 30 mins for the live chat (45 min wait time)

That's what you get for using Google huh? :p I kid I kid, not a fanboy here.
 
For all those people complaining about upgrade fees, plan changes, and so on... Can't you just buy the phone and move the sim card from your old phone to the new? I know someone who did this moving from an original iPhone to a 3GS and it worked perfectly; no fees, no plan changes.

They usually won't let you buy the phone without accepting the changes. or making it really hard to find the option to keep your existing plan.
 
Tried a couple of times after Midnight California Time...

... and the site was down.

Went to sleep.

Right before leaving for work, 07:30am, I had no trouble signing on.

I woke up to try and order at 2am. After repeated attempts on the Apple website, I decided that sleeping was a better use of my time.

Unfortunately, this morning I'm getting the following error message when trying to per-order at Apple.com:

"Order Already Exists"

"Please cancel the other order before processing further."

I never entered a CC or confirmed an order.. so I have nothing to 'cancel.'

Calling Apples is obviously a waste right now.. Any one stuck in a similar dilemma? Any suggestions?

Try purchasing as a guest. Log out of your Apple ID

Just got mine by walking into AT&T store 20 minutes ago. No lines. No waiting. Sublime experience actually.

I wasn't logged in with an Apple ID, then or now. I go through choosing the phone, put in my AT&T account information, then it gives me that error message. I can't even get to the point where I am given a choice to enter as a guest or with an Apple ID.

I stayed up yesterday till 4 am and couldn't go through the system ... went to sleep and when I wake up at 9 am, ordered without any problems from iPhone app. Delivery estimate is still oct 14 :)

PS. just got my order confirmation two hours later.

Well, I wanted to try and order from apple (better returns policy) but the apple store doesn't allow me to confirm my 5$/200 text plan, but will allow me to confirm my 30$ unlimited data plan. So, no go there.

With AT&T now, when I try to checkout, it says my data plan "unlimited for iphone" is not available or applicable, which we KNOW is not the case.

So, it would appear that NO order is possible at this time.

Yep. Exact same thing happened for me. So frustrating.:mad:

I actually was naive enough to call Apple to try to resolve it and after actually getting through and escalating through 3 CSRs, it still is not resolved. I couldn't hold any longer as I DO have other things to do today. :)
 
yep the process last night was a mess. I tried several times at Apple and then AT&T and nothing. Suddenly out of the blue around 12:50PT AT&T start to work flawlessly and I was able to snatch a 32gig Black 4S.

Crazy stuff. They need to figure this thing out by now. Unless Apple wants to have thousands in front of their retail stores. Maybe they do. :rolleyes:
 
After giving up last night, I got right through with the iPhone app this am and ordered a 16G white ATT phone. It's been 2 hours and I still haven't gotten a confirmation email, but...

After over an hour of trying to access my order history on the Apple site, I finally got in and see my order, and...

My credit card has a temporary charge.

So, I'm feeling like this worked :) Delivery on the 14th.
 
Funny...
Got up a little before 3AM est to get my preorder. AT&T and Apple were down or didn't have anything for preorder.

I was about to go to bed around 3:30 and call it a day, then Apple started working. I got through one order all the way to the end then it failed.

I kept trying to get all the way through until about 4:15 and it didn't work.

Tried via the Apple Store App on my phone and it got to the end and it failed.
App sitting at the same spot trying to verify my AT&T account.
I went to bed.

Got up around 7:35 to get ready for work and the App was sitting at the same spot, hit Done. It went through, 1 minute later my 32GB Black 4S was preordered for Oct 14th Delivery!
