Alright folks... no more whining around from the PowerBook 12" fans please.*
The new MacBook is made for you.

13.3" is not 12". Or the even better size of 10".

These updates are great but they're still not going to satisfy people that want something more portable.

with two graphics cards, will there be some way to drive two monitors? or am i confused?

What about the MINI?

What about the xMac?

What about the <$999 market?

What about a DOCKING STATION capability? No excuse now, that its "your first intel laptops ever".

/There is lots of dark clouds on the Apple computer product horizon.

It's a NOTEBOOK keynote for god's sake!

So rather than trying to make the MBP spec-equivalent with PC laptops at the same price point, they're giving us more of this thinner, lighter stuff? Thinner, lighter, thinner, lighter, thinner, lighter. Same old game.

Is more robust functionality too much to ask for?

Was looking forward to getting a Nehalem MBP next year, but a glossy screeen has no place in a pro machine

may have to pick up one of the last of the current models on the cheap now.

Im happy now with my Current MBP....these updates are VERY minor

Huh? Omission of FW notwithstanding, these are truly the best MBs ever. It doesn't obsolete your MB, but don't downplay these b/c you are happy with yours or can't justify the upgrade.

They finally realised that people wanted the smaller macbook pro and so released a 'macbook' which looks like the pro

Not sure I'm liking the glass aspect of the screen but I'll hold judgement until seen in the flesh.

Liking the specs of the macbook (alu) though and the power via display is a nice touch which I'm surprised hasn't been done before.

I expected something cheaper, like pretty much everybody else here. The only difference is that I didn't suddenly forget what I expected once they announced it.
Dude they dropped the price, just because it's not at the price you want, you're crying, people and their expectations.

considering the computer i'm currently still working on... i'm totally sold. just need to figure out which model is best for me right now.

Go. Away. NOTEBOOK UPDATE......

Spotlight turns to notebooks. What a gross overreaction they have a $999 Macbook now.

This stuff is horrible. Everything is damn glossy. I hope they'll lose a lot of customers.

Great, so finally we have the replacement for the 12" Powerbooks. These new Macbooks are just 13.3" MBP's

did anyone mention that it would be glossy only?
btw all the rumors so far were true omg
even the pictures -_- so boring

1599 for a mb
why just dont call i powerbook or 13inch mbp

probably because the white/black ones will be phased out and these will take their place at a lower price point

overall good news for average mb consumers (IMHO) the new alu mbs will be big sellers. expected a wee bit more out of the mbp though, maybe january when the gaga over the new manufacturing process is spent

So mac became less affordable and only glossy screen option is available, less ports .... yah, reminds me ipod nano "upgrade"- that's when I started to hate ipods.

If the display on the MBP was available in matte, I'd be buying it this second. Because it's not, I'm having second thoughts.
