Man, I wanted to order as soon as the shop comes alive.
Now I really have second thoughts. These glass displays are a big turnoff. Do they break easily? How about being in a train next to the window and constantly getting changing reflections on the screen - really bad...:(

There seems to be less of a distinction between the MacBook and MacBook Pro lines, however, it almost gives the impression that the Pro is even more professionally oriented. ...Probably because less "consumers" will buy the Pro line simply for aesthetics.

So rather than trying to make the MBP spec-equivalent with PC laptops at the same price point
Never, ever going to happen.
You know, Apple is a premium manufacturer with big margins.
13.3" is not 12". Or the even better size of 10"
Come on.
What's this obsession about size all about?
These things fit well along your usual papers and sheets for university and the like.
The PB 12" weighs around 2.1 kg.
MacBooks won't be much more.

So these new MacBooks are just as portable as the PB 12" ever was.

You guys are the biggest group of whiners I have ever seen! This is top notch stuff, and you're expectations are unrealistic.

Get over it, or get out.

I'm not. I'm happy with the updated macbooks. It was just what I wanted

Huh? Omission of FW notwithstanding, these are truly the best MBs ever. It doesn't obsolete your MB, but don't downplay these b/c you are happy with yours or can't justify the upgrade.

Just saying the update was not worth it to me....and I'm glad I bought it when I did. Things like Blu-ray, faster processor, ect...would have been nice. It'll come soon though:cool: And you are right, they are the best yet...I do have the money to get one (if I wanted)...but I won't. Differences are too minor...

jesus christ all these "apple is now officially form over function" people make it sound like macs are completely usesless, just dead wieght, cant even turn on.

Well, I was hesitant between the MB and the MBP before... The MBP was really tempting because of the matt screen and the faster GPU (for Windows Vista). Now, everything gets that stupid glossy screen, and the integrated GPU of the MB is probably good enough for Vista or even for playing the occasionnal World of Warcraft.
So, no reason to go for the MBP anymore. Thank you Apple for making me save my money. I will just buy the MB and use the saved money to buy a decent 24" LCD from HP for when I'm home... The MB will be less pleasant to use outside, but then, so will the MBP anyway - bigger screen only means more shine in my face...

I’m disappointed….. This $1,299 model is actually a processor step down from the previous one. The intel graphics of the old one were crap for sure, but this new Nvidia one is still integrated graphics. Shareholders aren’t going to like this… Apple is going to have a tough time convincing people to buy these. Everybody is making macbook-inspired laptops these days for less than $1,000 and with better hardware (like 4 gigs of RAM and bigger hard drives).

4GB of ram ? Maybe, but Vista 32 bit can not utilise (or recognise) more than a tad over 3GB.

People wasting money this sounds like.

a.

Nice Macbook Air update, think I will keep the current SSD one for the moment though.

Regarding the MBP, initial feelings, nice on the inside, not so nice on the outside although will have to take a closer look

This stuff is horrible. Everything is damn glossy. I hope they'll lose a lot of customers.

umm a lot actully want a system thats screams 2008 not 1993

you dont like it, dont buy it, simple as that people. just quit wining as no one cares nor listens to you
