You know what they are trying to do with that $999 MacBook, right? They want to say they have a sub-$1,000 notebook, affordable to the masses. But, that BS won't fly with the majority of somewhat intelligent people.

So, now there are basically 5 different MacBook iterations CURRENT. Entry level MB, "top of the line" MB, "new" MBP, "current" 17" MBP, and the Air. Can you say, confused much!

So rather than trying to make the MBP spec-equivalent with PC laptops at the same price point, they're giving us more of this thinner, lighter stuff? Thinner, lighter, thinner, lighter, thinner, lighter. Same old game.

Is more robust functionality too much to ask for?

Price Point

I'm really disappointed with the supposed price drop. Gee, I can still get the white plastic macbook for $999?? Heck, I can get it for less refurbed... I have told more than a few folks to wait for the new products because they were supposedly going to be a bit cheaper,,, what a drag...

Ah well, I'll keep using my white Macbook and my 17"MBP and be happy Guess I'll get all my folks to buy refurb...

I love visiting the Macrumors forum after an event. Everyone whines and complains like babies and in a few months the products that they were crying about are the best things since sliced bread and theres a new event and everyone whines and complains about the new products again. You'd think people would have learned their lesson by now.

The alu macbooks look like just the ticket. How much do they weigh?

aluminum? who gives crap? As long as plastic is durable enough I am fine with it. Aluminum dents and scratches more easily.

Aluminum can be recycled at the end of the devices life, actually is stronger in everyday use.
