Well that was a major bust no matter how much of a fan you are. The pricing is just silly, I think this will be a big flop sadly.

I was ready to snap up two new MBs for myself and my wife today if they just had a superdrive, nvidia/x4500, and LED screen at a reasonable (agressive as they put it on the last shareholder conf call) price of $799-899.

$1599 is completely out of the question for two, so Apple lost a would be "switcher" today. Sadly I have to give up the nice design and OSX for the common sense of a Sony Vaio or Dell. A 13" Inspiron c2d 2.0/3gb/250gb AND a mini 9" total in my cart is $1179 and I can do two of the new mid-level Vaios for around $1500 which are nicely designed and have great specs.

I'm glad I waited to see what Apple was coming with, just disappointed with the outcome in my case. AAPL down 4% and dropping as we speak.

Jobs: “Blu-ray is a bag of hurt. I don’t mean from the consumer point of view. It’s great to watch movies, but the licensing is so complex. We’re waiting until things settle down, and waiting until Blu-ray takes off before we burden our customers with the cost of licensing.”

Ahahahahaha. Yes, and DVDs are going away.

Then how come other notebook manufacturers can provide bluray at a lower price point. Seriously come on. Getting behind the curve...

I may be in the minority but disappointed by this:

Jason Chen: Why isn’t HDMI or Blu-ray in there? And Display Port is?

Jobs: “HDMI can’t drive our 30-inch display, so we put in Display Port. Blu-ray is a bag of hurt. I don’t mean from the consumer point of view. Jesus, is EVERYONE a bloody expert?

And how about a Quadro option?

Bah - to hell with Apple, this is bull. The "Transition" is clearly going from Pro-users to Consumers... what a pile of dung.

Form over Function till Death Do Us Part. I'm really happy for those of you who're over the moon with the new offerings, because I love gadgets and all things shiny too. But for fellow creative pros, this is a load of cock.

And GLASS SCREEN??? Seriously I took the mickey out of this in earlier posts because I thought it was fake....but WTF?:confused::mad: (decends into whimpering madness).

You're not going to cram a Quadro FX 3700M or a 9800M GTX into a 0.95" chassis..... you'll find those in 7-10 pound 1.5"-2" thick machines, for the most part.

I don't think everyone will ever be happy with what they do with each upgrade. Sorry, my brain is mush at the moment at 4am

You guys are the biggest group of whiners I have ever seen! This is top notch stuff, and you're expectations are unrealistic.

Get over it, or get out.

Nice attitude, drink the kool-aid or get out? I'm sure glossy is fine for 85% of the Macbook Pro users but for the other 15% of us who have to rely on a color correct, non-glare screen for pantone colors and retouching it is a HUGE mistake.

Apple used to design the most aesthetically pleasing computers in the industry. These look anything but! Overall, I'm decidedly underwhelmed.

Totally agree. I really dont like those black screens. They look cheaper & plastic. I would go with a Macbook Air.

I've tried to keep up with the thread so a million apologies if this has been asked and answered (and you can tar and feather me):

As these are shipping today and in stores tomorrow does that usually indicate a shipping time of around 1 business day on Apple.com?

x2

I love visiting the Macrumors forum after an event. Everyone whines and complains like babies and in a few months the products that they were crying about are the best things since sliced bread and theres a new event and everyone whines and complains about the new products again. You'd think people would have learned their lesson by now.

That won't be true this time. The people who buy it will try to say it is great b/c they have one, but if someone looks at this objectively it was a major disappointment for the price and most of all the specs.

Q: Concern about the glossy screens. Are you going to offer another option?
A: Steve: We're going all glass -- we won't offer another version. Phil: You offset the reflection by the brightness, and consumers love it. One of the great things about a notebook is you can turn it however you want!

The planet !!!

Aluminum can be recycled at the end of the devices life, actually is stronger in everyday use.

I wonder why my Apple alu keyboard is bent then, even I most emphatically did NOT abuse it. (the part with the num pad bends upwards for some odd reason).

Open up apple store! I want to indirectly boost the US economy!*

*And get a new macbook:D

Q: Are you going to have matte screens or just go with glossy glass ones? How about with reflection problems?
A: Just glass, and we’re going to compensate for the reflection from pushing more light through the back. And, since these are notebooks, you can position it any way you want.

Damn
